He can touch it as long as he has re-established back on the inbound court with both feet - which he did not do - if you watch carefully he rec'd the pass with only one foot on the inbound court and then the second foot touched the floor on the jump shot....no bucket....refs blew it.

This is the rule that would apply in this case: If a player goes out of bounds without the ball, they can go back inbounds at any time but they can’t influence the play or touch the ball until they have rejoined inbounds by placing both feet within the borderlines. And I agree - shouldnt have counted that basket. It would have resulted in a turnover of possession to Rutgers at half court with whatever time was left on the clock at the time of the infraction.

Video also shows Holden standing out of bounds when the ball is passed to him. He leaps onto the court at the same time that he catches the pass, which also is a violation. The rules say he must first establish position on the court before he can touch the ball. Holden didn’t appear to do that.

I was at this game, and let me tell you it was easily the most exciting game I’ve been to. Rutgers played amazing defense the whole game, but Ohio State found a way. And the whole arena was rocking after this shot! ⭕️🙌
They found a way to break the rules without being caught. Refs were too afraid to review it since yall are savages when things don't go your way. Biggest scandal so far this season in NCAA BB.

I remember MLB in George Bret’s pine tar game had to go back to ump’s mistake, correct it then restarted the game at that point weeks later. NFL, NBA, NCAA doesn’t do that. Refs should be suspended a game for missing the fact that BOTH players were out of bounds (#2 at 0:42 and #0 at 0:44 was not re-established in-bounds before touching the ball).
Refs should have reviewed this one. By rule - If a player goes out of bounds without the ball, they can go back inbounds at any time but they can’t influence the play or touch the ball until they have rejoined inbounds by placing both feet within the borderlines.
Watch carefully you can see that the player rec'd the pass with only one foot on the inbound side of the court then the second foot touched the floor on the jump for the shot.... by rule this shot should not have counted. - turnover to the other team at the midcourt sideline.
Bucket should have not counted. The shooter cannot touch the ball after he was out of bounds.
Rutgers actually was the winner. Kid was voluntarily out of bounds... which precludes him from being the first person to touch the ball. REFS missed it and B1G apologized to Rutgers.
Here after Rutgers finished in the first four out. This game probably cost them a tournament spot…

then becomes the first player to touch the ball after returning to the playing

Terrible blown CALLS by the refs. Everyone saw both involved passer and shooter outta bounds on that play. A win on paper but nobody wants to see refs keep getting it wrong. They lucky they were home but the players better learn the rules if they're trying to stay ranked.
