  • ‘Scanxiety’ - it’s a word that resonates with many prostate cancer patients and embodies the whirlwind of underdoing numerous scans, awaiting results and confronting the unknown. This month’s vodcast is focused on the challenges faced with scanning and how men can overcome some of the potential barriers.
This Vodcast was hosted by Matthew Britland (Managing Director at MedWise Consulting), along with panelists Prof. Rod Hicks (Founder and CMO of PreMIT), Dr. Paul Conway (Radiation oncologist at ICON Cancer Centre Richmond), Katherine Lyons (Clinical Nurse consultant at MTIC) and Will McDonald (Nine News Presenter and patient advocate).

I'm recently diagnosed with 4+3=7 prostate cancer. I concur very much with the notion that the waiting game from the decision to have an image made and then receipt of the outcome of the scan is very difficult. I have a pcma pet scan set for next week. The wait and the delays are very stressful. I feel as though my life is in suspended animation. Thank you for this video.

I concur with the notion of the waiting game. My cancer is stage 4 and is in the lymph nodes. The treatment will be apalutamide tablets + 3 monthly injections of Leuprorelin. Now is the question if it brings the psa down which at the last count was 78 and I'm curious if it works whence the waiting game. Thanks for the video it does give me an understanding of how things work.
