All Railroad Crossings on MBTA's Fitchburg Line

  • A total of 39 railroad crossings on non-private roadways.
    Towns include Somerville, Cambridge, Belmont, Waltham, Weston, Lincoln, Concord, Acton, Boxborough, Littleton, Ayer, and Shirley.
    This video also features a rail washer train. These are used to remove fallen leaves that have been stuck to the rails. These leaves result in reduced friction and wheel slip problems. High pressurized water is used to spray them off the rails.

    I didn't know Devens has a Railroad crossing

      Apparently it's in Shirley, just on the edge of Devens. When going through all the locations, Google Maps told me it was Devens mistakenly.

    I fear what may become of the commuter rail - especially these longer lines - if working from home becomes the new normal...they were hemorrhaging cash in 2020

      It's on the edge of Devens, not sure why Google maps pin-pointed that as Devens even when their own town line shows it in Shirley
