the exact reason i came here I think they are related. There is no way on earth that overwatch did not derive most of its ideas from other games and I dont mean that in a bad way. It just seems that seeing this game get turned into a piece of crap call of duty clone and fail seems to be the main impetus for the creation of overwatch. The reactions to overstrike were like a proof of concept for blizzard so it got the green light. I've been playing overwatch for a while and after watching this again the resemblance is uncanny and even the story is similar. I would not be surprised if some of the developers on this also worked on overwatch.
Overwatch derived most of its ideas from Project Titan, It's just that Blizzard don't have to give a shit about what EA's focus groups of 15 year olds say, so they can release colourful and fun shootmans games Fuck EA.

Actually Imsomniac called in focus groups to judge the game. It was aimed at an older audience, but the kids stated that the game looked too cartoonish and that "it would be a game that they'd see their younger brother play." So yeah. EA had nothing to do with it, it was the focus groups judging that made the game what it is today.
I was 10 when this game was announced before the change thinking it looked cool the way it was. A cartoony style shooter one I actually would played had the studio not listen to those 12 years old. looking back those same teen who are older by now probably regret saying the game looked too cartoony
came back to this when I heard the song in the new suicide game, its the same damn song, maybe after 10 years we are finally getting a game very much like this.
Overstrike definitely used both Ratchet & Clank and Resistance in its design, story and game play. Enough for either a Teen or Mature rating, eitherway it would have been awesome. And I'm one of the few who enjoys Fuse.

Just because it has the word Over in it... I like Overwatch, but what are these comments on aboit "like Overwatch", this would've been a Campaign game, with levels and a story in the game, not just bios and comics not in game but on a website. It has a comedy, but not the same tone of colorful variety cartoony that Overwatch has.
YES, FOUND THE FREAKIN' GAME!! I remembered the white guy with a shield and a black guy sniper who were agents and that's it, so vaguely too! Then? As I kept trying to remember, I just recalled the song.. tick, tick, tick BOOM and dun-dun-duna dun-dun as I was chatting with my friend who played the beta with another old friend of ours and did not remember at all and called me crazy, that it was some made up game. So eventually I found that song as I was desperately asking help from him to assist me in finding the game, then I looked up a game trailer with a bomb sort of kind of song, eventually found Fuse attached to it and then I knew once I saw the picture of the cover. That's the game, that is the game my mind suppressed and I FINALLY found it. Hard to hear that it was an EA mess up, but sort of hilarious to realize just how long they've been at messing things up with their crookedness! P.S. I even tried to use Akinator and it could not figure it out lol so thankful to have this pointless burden lifted off of my shoulders.

Today, I saw a Whatculturegaming video and finally found out the horrible truth about what happened to that awesome game who's E3 trailer had me pumped. I had forgotten the name and had not been able to look it up. The video called it Fused and when I looked into it I was mortified. Who tf listens to 12 year olds when it comes to mature content. All adult humor, sexual innuendos, and references will fly over their heads cuz they're 12! We had the quirky, smartass captain that everyone woulda loved and his band of misfits. The trailer was mature enough by the gore and violence standards. Throw in more of that humor they debuted along with really fleshed out, unique, zaney characters and they woulda had a smash hit. Look at Borderlands and its cel shading art style! A mature game with crude jokes, violence, and sexual theme. But most importantly it was not defined by its art style and changed to fit a mold..so mad

I remember seeing a trailer on CZcams and being excited, but not following the industry at the time and it just suddenly disappeared, I only recently realised that this game became fuse ....... what a showering shit show in a shallow spunk pool of disappointment!
I want future people to know that this game did in fact come out under the name Fuse, and it was not as this trailer originally promised. All of the humor and life was drained from it script and replaced by safe, slandered shooter game play and visuals. It was the first major disappointment in EA I've ever had, but it certainly want the last.
This original trailer looked like it had so much personality and smart writing. The game we finally got wreaked of the 'trying way to hard to be cool' attitude that 12 year old white kids exhibit when they first fall in love with rap music...
Even after 5 years I'm still pissed that this wasn't the game we got :(
