  • This home movie from 50 years ago captures scenes of Fairbanks, Alaska, on the cusp of major changes due to the beginning of trans-Alaska pipeline construction. The Golden Days Parade on Second Avenue includes antique cars, horses and riders, marching bands, bicycles, and a float for the Nugget Squares square dancers. Other parade entrants include a Salute to Disney, the Imagine-Nation of KUAC radio and TV, Republican Don Young, the Bureau of Land Management, Democrat Mike Gravel, the Youth Conservation Corps, Wien Air Alaska celebrating its 50th year, the trans-Alaska pipeline, the Alaska Railroad, the Palace Saloon, Alyeska-Bechtel TAPS (Trans-Alaska Pipeline Service), and the Alaskan Floral shop (Color/Silent/Super8mm film).
