One of the best games ever made - the artwork, script, voices and music are all just brilliant. This was my first Monkey Island, and I absolutely love it.
Walmaker I’d love to see the entire thing redrawn in HD but with the same art style! Unfortunately the original animations are locked to only 640x480 resolution, so it would need to be entirely redrawn, but it would still be awesome I think to see it remade totally. (Also, some new advances in AI upscale create some really impressive results, and the art style scales really well in that way, so the game might be able to be upscaled to 1440x1080 and then manually redrawn in places, which could create nearly perfect HD animation!)
After playing the first two games when I was younger, I always passed this one to a day when I felt ready to return. A few month ago, I installed it and when this logo and the theme music appeard it gave me goosebumps. Felt just like coming home *sniff*
This intro is a 10/10 awesome in the awesomeness scale, I still get shivers down my spine when I remember the first time I saw it :) It's a pity they don't make 'em like this anymore, today's games are all designed to lure the masses with awesome new technological tricks that get old in a couple years, however games like this one are timeless.
I remembery playing this game in 1997 when it just came out. I was 11 (and a non-native english speaker) I still think it's the best of the series. The voice-acting was spot-on, the graphics were great, colorfull and rich. They didn't require more than that. No fancy animations needed. The music was epic and the jokes are actually really good, even as a 30+ year old. "I... I can't.. I'm washing my hear tonight..." XD
I remember when I was a kid and bought this game at the mall, thinking it would be awesome. I was wrong. ITS SUPER AWESOME, and it made me love whole Monkey Island series (Except Escape, I kinda dislike that game)
This is what I shall be playing during Christmas. I played the game when it first came out and I still have the CD. Then need to either make another game or come out with a movie.
1960: Ralph Baer designs the Odyssey 1977: Apple II part of the big three 1980: Golden age of arcade games 1990: Golden age of PC games 1997: I discover Monkey Island 2 2002: I discover this Gem 2021: I now have my childhood games all set Thank you internet
I got a collection they released of the trilogy, loved the first two and kind of "just liked" this third installment. I still have fond memories of it. But looking back at it... man, it was terrible when compared to the first two. The animation's pretty lame, the jokes don't land as well... it's pretty bad.
Oh man that sucks, but understandable. I loved every single one of them and played them to death when I was younger, The Curse of, was the fist one I played which is probably why I will always consider it the best one. There is just so much I would consider amazing in this game and its like they rounded off all the edges and made it bigger. I mean, this version of the Theme tune alone is as perfect as it could ever sound. Composing of mostly steel drums giving the song that texture. Mix that with the art style and how the voice actors not only suit the characters but some of the lines they deliver, wow. From this game along I cant hear the end of theme on the ost without hearing LeChuck shouting "FIRE!" the way he does. Or even the way the artists build the scene up and up right from the start to deliver that "Voodoo cannon ball" line is a demonstration of good pacing and build up to a crescendo within art. I guess the whole voodoo cannon ball thing might seem like nothing now, but back in the 90's it was like hearing something technical, mystical and worrying. I guess I agree with the comedy being better in the other games I especially favor the comedy in Escape from, but even that isnt until you move away from the first island.
This was genuinely one of the greatest moments in Gaming History - hearing Guybrush talk for the first time!

Perfection incarnate. Nothing can touch this game.
What if somebody tried to remake it (Would you rather prefer just a widescreen reanimated remake or a full live-action Disney remake)?
@@walmaker8372 It would be a SIN to just so much as touch the art style, graphics, anything. Maybe widecreen or a bit higher res, nothing else.
I loved it, was kinda disappointed the newer games were made in 3d

Monkey Island 2 can
If you’re here, reading this then we are United in common bond of a wonderful experience.
This game is a genuine monument to perfection.
Best rendition of the main theme EVER! It's joyous.
2:12 still gives me chills
"Neptune's naval... that was a close one!"
One of the most memorable lines...

i wish more games were made in this style.

This is number 2. There is absolutely no way of beating the Secret of Monkey Island.
@@samtheguru To my shame, I never played that one. I was first introduced to MI with this one.
If this was a cartoon I'd watch the HELL out of it!
We need this TV show!!!
One of my favorite games of all time. A total comfort game for me.
This game always cheers me up when I'm feeling down.
This is THE greatest original intro music ever composed! Thank you Michael Land!
Am I the only one who says that the animation is amazing! Even for a 1998 game
This was just waaaaaaaaaaaay ahead of its time. I wish the new one had this same style.
Return to monkey island 2022 let’s go!
02:09 This does it. The screams, the build up.
Deep in the internet... Monkey Island fans... Loving their nostalgia 😅
Yes lol
I remember when I was a kid and bought this game at the mall, thinking it would be awesome. I was wrong. ITS SUPER AWESOME, and it made me love whole Monkey Island series (Except Escape, I kinda dislike that game)
It doesn't need a remake.
6:38 Amazing, a blink-and-you'll-miss "Monty Python Life of Brian" reference!
Yes, spiwit!
Best art, best music, best punch lines. Peak Monkey.
2.12 - Goosebumps!
Best Freaking opening to a game! I was in love the moment I saw this for the first time.
Best game ever made! :D
The clock on the bell tower was in real time! Blew me away when I realised that!
Powerful intro theme, love it
Me and my family were absolutely hooked on this game.
La meilleure des intros d'un jeu !!!
RIP Earl Boen.
This game is totally unique!
This is what I shall be playing during Christmas. I played the game when it first came out and I still have the CD. Then need to either make another game or come out with a movie.
I rather want LucasArts or some director company go make an animated 2D series in this artstyle. I would watch it.
Precisely. GOG has to get into that, quickly.
this game had best graphics in my opinion
im about to try it again 1st time in 2 years :P
Living in brazil is like that 2:05
I own all of the monkey island games and I LOVE THEM!!! =3
😊 The flaming voodoo cannonball ? how does it work?
if this was remade i'd buy it, heh
First picture of the island is same as the island in Force awakens
They should do a remaster of this game!
It needs a re-release!
Yeah man.
What type of dance could you choreograph to this? It's not quite a mambo or a merengue beat.
it sure is :)
Am I the only one with a huge crush on Guybrush...?
Alexandra Boyd is my favourite of the two Elaines
It needs only one thing. Higher res
thx!!
MURRAY!
When computer games were good and held their roots.
looks like Daffy alright :P

Is that... Daffy Duck in the clouds? 4:52
I will likely be killed for this but:
#ZeldaCDIRemake
me 2 :P
Soooo… if this is just a fantasy of a child who’s elder brother is LeChuck: who’s Elaine in the “real” world??
It wasn't a fantasy that Guybrush had. That was part of LeChuck's curse on Guybrush. They were never brothers.
Imagine if this game was ported to PS1 .
This would be an amazing addition to the Playstation Library .
