- The Dig was a major adventure game development from LucasArts. It featured a concept from Steven Spielberg, dialogue written by Orson Scott Card and the main character's voice work was performed by actor Robert Patrick (Terminator 2). It expanded on the SCUMM/iMUSE combo with a system called INSANE for cutscenes. The soundtrack features work from veteran LucasArts composer Michael Land.
The game is somewhat a departure from their other adventure work thanks to its more serious tone. From Wiki : "A radio telescope in Borneo detects the approach of a large asteroid on a collision course with Earth; authorities dub it "Attila" after the ancient conqueror Attila the Hun. Scientists determine explosives planted on the surface of the asteroid may divert it into a stable orbit around Earth. A five-person expedition use the Space Shuttle Atlantis to rendezvous with the asteroid and plant the charges."
Golden age of point-and-click. And of Lucasarts.
The OST in this game is a masterpiece.
This game totally blew me away as a kid, the intro was the most cinematic thing I'd ever seen in an adventure game up to that point - or any game really. Like all games back then it came in a big-box with full artwork. Gorgeous holographic box with a foldout cover. The latest and greatest LucasArts adventure at the time, impossible not to buy this full-price on day one for me. MEMORIES :*(
one of the best games OF ALL time
This game and Full Throttle. Those were the good old days
Ahh the memories! I will never forget this wonderful game.
Absolutely one of the best games ever!
This game demands a film adaptation.
I mean, a film produced by Spielberg (from his own original concept, no less!) from a game with dialog by Orson Scott Card and then adapted into a novel by Alan Dean Foster which filled in even more details?
That's a best selling summer flick if ever there was one.
Originally it was mean to be an episode for a TV show, then thought to be a film, but it showed so expensive to film (back then) they decided to turn it into a videogame.

4:30 that's just beautiful the music in this game is on another level
This really feels like a Spielberg movie
Thinking on remaking the opening.

This was my first CD-ROM game
The Dig intro remake is ready :) visit my channel 2 check it out.
The atmosphere in this game is incredible. LucasArts magnus opus!
remember this game - lot of hype for 1995 release, was over rated and very complicated i thought when a kid so i bought full throttle and warcraft 1 instead. I remember this game also came out about the same time as Dark forces another Lucas Hit game that had better graphics than doom and ran fast on a 486 dx4 100mhz
It's the T-1000 model
