    Great video, I just use the C series been my experience the baked on just rubs through anyway not ever really on the barrel but the handguard will and if you carry it a lot for hunting ( I do a lot of predator in the winter) it'll rub through around the mag well, trigger opening on your trigger finger side the safety, bolt release and mag release and when it does its bare shiny metal showing through on my factory finished baked Cerakoted rifle that's why I prefer black anodized, cpq'd and just clean with acetone and Cerakote w/ C series air dried and when it does eventually wear through it'll be just the black anodized surface peeking through in some spots and much easier to do Camo patterns with to as well as all my scopes Bipods mags I'm in the coatings industry anyway and applied all kinds different different stuff so I just set it up in my shed hang my parts with electrical wire or hangers from a 2x4 set on ladder rungs between 2 different ladders I'll do solid colors in no time keep up the great videos thx

      I appreciate the feedback bNICE and thanks for watching the channel. I wasn’t going to be too particular on the barrel but shiny steel really didn’t match the setup. I don’t normally Cerakote my guns but when I do, it is usually done this way.

      H and elite series cerakote does just rub off from carrying the firearm. More than likely there were issues the application itself. I messed up on quite a few projects before I got it down.

      I think most people are surprised when they see it done the proper way. Layering Cerakote adds a whole new dimension when done properly. Timing is critical, dry Cerakote won’t adhere properly to itself if the flash time is off.

  • @archangel20031

    I guess some kind of tape might do, but for a real solid cover, heat shrink tubing is best for sand and bead blasting as it stays tight and will not unwind.
    Just pull it off before baking.
    Almost the same prep for Parkerizing but you let it soak in hot Parkerizing fluid, then rinse in hot water, then soak in hot oil that is allowed to cool.
    The oil will be impregnated into the Parkerized coating.

  • @conservativesniperhunter7439

    Nice video! I just put up a two part series on Cerakoting at home. My equipment is a bit more cruder than yours (and yes, I am jealous lol). I wanted to do Cerakoting gun parts on my channel but already got a warning for an AR video I did (which YT took down) so am keeping my Cerakoting videos to knives and such. One quick question, Cerakote is pretty adamant about using 18:1 ratios on their Elite line, I'm assuming a slightly higher ratio doesn't impact it any? I've used elite series successfully at 18:1 and do a lot in their H series, which gives you a pretty wide latitude in your ratios. Was wondering how much runway you have on either side of 18:1 for the elite series there is. Thanks again for the great video.

  • @brettmathews3191
    @brettmathews3191 Před 4 lety +1

    nice video. great set up you have. 2 tips, you don't have to zero the scale. just add the catalyst until you get the proper total. And don't tip your gun when you get to the bottom if the stroke. tiny things, but. used to mix paint, and paint cars, if you angle the gun, the paint applies slightly different. could be a problem with touchy colors. not trying to not pick, just passing on experience

    • @XRING
      @XRING  Před 4 lety +2

      Depending on the desired sheen. For more gloss go into the oven immediately. For a matte finish let flash for 15 mins. You can also modify the sheen by adjusting the ratio but Cerakote does recommend 18:1 for Elite series.

      @@matthewcordova359 depending on your budget, Ruger makes awsome precision rifles. I have one in .223 and it is an absolute tack driver at 60 yards. I'm talking rounds through existing holes accuracy. I have heard a lot of good things of the other calibers they have it in such as, 6.5 creedmore. .308. Prices here in Canada are obviously higher that ANYWHERE ELSE in the world so I paid 1800 plus tax, but it is an awsome gun. Looking forward to stretching g it out to further distances soon.

    • @XRING

      Good question Jerry. Many people do Camo incorrectly. Dried Cerakote does not adhere well to itself. It’s all about timing and applying stencils before the base colors and those above have fully cured. If done incorrectly the top layers can flake prematurely.

    @loginavoidence12 Před 3 lety +1

    it's always good to have an inline desiccant filter also to remove latent moisture from the product spray. very inexpensive, and noticable results sometimes (especially if using a cheap small compressor)

    You have a nice paint booth and setup with the sandblasting and painting. I'm guessing you paint your own vehicles and other stuff etc. Great video.
    I havent painted my rifles yet but I have painted and blasted industrial and vehicles, well not blasting vehicles more like sanding well you understand.

    The oven is worth more than all of that guy at Branson Cerakote. A trick I leaned with taping off areas? Wrap the tape sticky side out so it doesn't stick to the part.

    how thick is the Ceracoat layer? I use DuraCoat instead and the thickness of it is only .001 so i never have issues with screws not fitting. I had Ceracoated guns in the shop where i had to chase the threads to mount scope bases, I never have that issue with Duracoat.

    • @XRING
      @XRING  Před 4 lety

      Great question Smithers Gunworks. It think it all has to do with the applicator. Cerakote measures .001 as well so the thickness should be the same as Duracoat.

    Is this your setup or did you have to use someone else's with the ovens and sand blaster? Either way it's an awesome setup.

    Doesn't mind getting simple green on hand putting barrel in, lifts up tray to take barrel out so you don't get simple green on your hands... why didn't you use that process to put the barrel in lol. Either way, just wanted to poke fun, great video!

    Seeing that socom elite, makes me a little sad, somehow lost mine recently, after only having it for like 1.5 weeks or so. Oh well, it’s only “stuff” I guess.
