Welcome to Pink Floyd. I'm delighted you enjoyed your first song. As a life-time PF lover I have some tips:
    1. How to listen: Relax, close your eyes, avoid distractions, slip on some headphones and drift wherever the music takes you. Enjoy the journey/experience.
    2. What to listen to: "Dark Side of the Moon" album from start to finish, no breaks. One track bleeds into the next, even these transitions are worth listening to.

Every song is like a movie. Very album is like a sound track of 10 years worth of life experiences. Together, their collective works are like someone’s entire life.
Their albums are meant to be listened to in their entirety, but the songs are great either way. You’ll notice that most songs I’ll either begin with the last few seconds of the previous song… or they’ll begin with a crazy long intro. The band has both a tragic and wonderful history. They lost their original front man (and group founder) and song writer to mental illness in 1967.
Forced to regroup, they moved forward and struggled for a while, but they eventually found their stride and started pumping out amazing albums. Many consider Pink Floyd to be either the 2nd or 3rd greatest band ever. They seem to swap places with Led Zeppelin - behind only the Beatles.

Every time you listen to Pink Floyd and you think you have them pegged the next song will surprise you! Also you'll notice they don't sing about narcissistic things or girls or how fast my car is or things like that they sing about The Human Condition and life which is one reason Pink Floyd can never be dated when it comes to their sound and their music! They're basically their own genre, nobody sounds like them and they definitely don't sound like anyone else!
Their music is always phenomenally beautiful and their lyrics are second to none! Roger Waters is the main Lyricist and bass player. Then you have David Gilmour the lead singer lead guitarist, Rick Wright the keyboardist who also sings and then Nick Mason who turns out to be the perfect drummer for this group. And you had Syd Barrett who started this group but drugs brought on schizophrenia or vice versa and he had to leave the group but the band never abandoned him they took care of him his whole life.
Try something from Pink Floyd's 1994 Pulse concert if you want to see what they look like in concert which is beyond description you have to see it. Most people suggest "Comfortably Numb" from that concert!! Last thing about the Pulse concert you'll notice 20,000 people sitting as still as a rock because Pink Floyd's music is very mesmerizing!!

The Dark Side of the Moon is among the most critically acclaimed records in history, and is often featured in professional listings of the greatest albums of all time. The record helped to propel Pink Floyd to international fame, bringing wealth and plaudits to all four band members. A blockbuster release of the album era, it also propelled record sales throughout the music industry during the 1970s. The Dark Side of the Moon has been certified 14× platinum in the United Kingdom, and topped the US Billboard Top LPs & Tape chart, where it has charted for 962 weeks in total. With estimated sales of over 45 million copies, it is Pink Floyd's most commercially successful album, and one of the best-selling albums worldwide. In 2012, it was selected for preservation in the United States National Recording Registry by the Library of Congress for being deemed "culturally, historically, or aesthetically significant".

As an older PF fan my strongest advice is do the album The Dark Side of the Moon in 2 hits (side 1 / side 2)
I know sounds OTT but trust me, each track transitions directly into the next and themes follow so if you do single tracks u get weird cut off endings and miss the overall concept 😉

I'm a hip hop fan mostly and I don't care for a lot of rock, but floyd is a MASSIVE exception. The care for each note, the attention to mood, the importance of each word. And the fact that all those components work together in every song of every album after Meddle is truly remarkable. The greatest if all time. Btw highly recommend the song Time and Dogs haha (my favs)

"Time" is the ultimate wake up
"The Great Gig in the Sky" deepest dive into the emotions surrounding Death you will ever hear
"Money" the absurdity of extreme wealth vs extreme poverty
"Us and Them" the most laid back Anti-War Anti-Poverty song ever.
"Brain Damage" & "Eclipse" how easily everything can be taken and how we should treasure what we have.

I worked at a bar in 1976/77 as a lighting tech for bands that would play there. Between sets, the house would sometimes put this album on while the band took a break. If you think this sounds good with headphones, imagine it coming through a dozen high quality speakers and two Altech Voice of the Theater cabinets scattered around the bar. All the effects you hear just swirled around all these speakers! It was incredible.

Pink Floyd is Legendary, they're an Experience! I've been a Pink Floyd fan since the release of their Iconic 1973 album, "Dark Side of the Moon", I was 17 years old.
Pink Floyd was formed in London in 1964, they were really the first British psychedelic band, they have sold over 300 million albums worldwide, (and counting). They are in the top 5 in the sales category, maybe the top 3. They are well known for their long-extended songs, with philosophical lyrics, sound experimentation, and elaborate light and lazer shows.
    Their live performances are astounding!
They are considered by most as the GOAT in Progressive Rock! Their music takes the listener on a cerebral journey, seemingly to another galaxy. lol! They can have a trans-like effect on the listener, some have actually mentioned kind of an "out of body" feeling. I'm not kidding, weed helps!
Check out "Comfortably Numb" from their 1979 The Wall album, and "Time" from their 1973 Dark Side Of The Moon album. Also for some great Live Pink Floyd concerts, check out their 1994 Pulse Concert at Earls Court in London. The members of Pink Floyd were in their late 40s and early 50s at that concert in 1994.

This song is from the Dark Side of the Moon album (1973), an album about the human experiences we have in life and death. Us and Them is about the conflicts that divide us. Verse 1 is about War. Verse 2 is about Racism, and verse 3 is about Poverty. Pink Floyd are in a category of their own. 19 albums and over 218 songs provide a rich playground for music that makes you think (deeply) and takes you on a journey of the soul. In saying that, Floyd wote albums (concept albums) that need to be listened to in order, as song bleed into the next to weave a tapestry of stories, ideas and concepts. Their big four albums are The Dark side of the Moon (1973), Wish You Were Here (1975), Animails, (1977) and The Wall (1979). Research each album and react in song order. Then listen to Meddle (1971), Atom Heart Mother (1970), and The Division Bell (1994). Welcome to the Pink Floyd rabbit hole, a journey that will change your view on music, forever.
