people have background singers on records all the time, it's as standard in the music industry as anything else. Michael Jackson and Diana Ross sang background on Stevie Wonder's songs. it would be highly difficult to find ANY record where there aren't background singers or references that weren't sung by other people on demos. and when you look at the liner notes Ashanti is credited on the songs

All he did was let people know ashanti did NOT write I'm real and it was not her singing the song, JLo very much sang the song Irv gotti just left ashantis background vocals on the track which is normal to do in the industry. Ashanti wasn't even an artist at the time, she was just a girl in the studio, she was lucky to be apart of that song.
So the song title should be changed to "I'm NOT real" . Got it.

Many artists keep the reference track from the demo on the final recording, many times it's credited as "background" vocals. It literally happens all of the time, and if you listen you hear that artists vocals on the track. It's not uncommon and not unique to J.Lo.

We know this. For example, I have heard Sia and Ed Sheeran on the songs they have sold people. The issue with JLo is that she can't sing, she is rumored to have done this on many songs while taking full credit and she shamelessly stole music from people. This is why Mariah still doesn't know her and black people feel some kind of way about her. With the exception of my belief that she can't sing

The music business is the oldest scam in the world and J. Lo is just part of it. Like if anything, people should be mad P. I think people are conflating some of the things that happened with Mariah Carey with the revelation that J. Lo sings over demos. There's literally nothing wrong with the practice.

So true, Ashanti was an unknown studio singer at the time who was doing demos before she got her big break, there's no scnadal to it, this is very normal recording studio process. You can tell it's Jlo's voice on the track, her singing voice is not much different from her speaking voice.

Shakira is huge worldwide (even if J. Lo is bigger in the states), has actually sold more records, and has done a lot of even bigger sporting events like the Soccer World Cup (twice). She also has more Facebook likes and followers than anyone other celebrity in the world, and the NFL is probably tryna capitalise on that following. I agree J. Lo can do it by herself but Shakira is bigger internationally.

Almost everyone got background vocals on their records. Even TLC (a GROUP) had background vocalists, ok, they were not strong singers like other girlbands. J.Lo didn't hide anything: everyone is credited on the f*cking credits of her songs. Ashanti is credited as A.Douglas, background vocalist and co-writer on the remixes for I'm Real and Ain't it Funny, both produced by Irv Gotti, who signed and launched Ashanti. She did that before her debut album was out. This is an unnecessary rumor. Girl is taking royalties from those songs and she's for sure happy with it.

Shakira is simply not that girl in the U.S. I mean her last Top 10 hit was over a decade ago. Maybe she's bigger elsewhere, but on the biggest music chart of the world the Billboard Hot 100, she is pretty much nonexistent. She fares better on the Latin charts though. Atleast there's that.
