Thanks for tuning in and joining the discussion, trying to be positive during tanking can be tough but we are all one community going through it together. Go Blazers!
@@FromTheLogo I'm not upset at all by tanking or losses, it was bound to happen eventually. Trading Dame was supposed to be us finally picking a direction, but they are still playing the in-between game. There is no reason for Grant or Brodgon to even be on the roster let alone playing 40 minutes. They genuinely tried to win this year and failed miserably. Will they finally choose to rebuild this summer? Doesn't look likely.
Blazers uprise? Yeah, that makes this look like elementary school knowledge compared, jus being honest. I've learned SO incredibly much from them and I haven't enjoyed Torey numerous times, but those dudes fkn love the blazers and have more knowledge about the game and all it's aspects levels n levels above most. Choosing Zachary over sarr is dumb, cuz we shouldn't even grab him at all..I know the nuances to why he looks good because of blazer uprise. He's gonna be good but nowhere good and what we need in sarr. Sarr works absolutely perfect here. We need defense more than anything, 2nd to shooting..but sarr would be the catch n break we needed for this team to really kick in the rebuild successfully
Next year they are tanking, hate to tell you. All signs point that direction and Cooper is available. The need to get a decent haul for Simon's and hand the keys over. What we don't need is 10 more years of two 6 root 2 guards.
The Blazers might be the worst team in the west next year even without tanking. Just want to see some momentum with prospects playing well and cohesive. Totally capture the Flagg, as well as no more 3 guard lineups.
Great listen! Thanks guys! For our first two picks (#1 - #7 and #13/14), in order, my preferences are Sarr, Holland, Buzelis, Clingan, Knecht, and Salaun. My top two favorites are Sarr and Holland. Holland seems kind of polarizing for some fans; but, for me, I think he'll be really good! The upcoming combine will probably shift people's projections even more once players either measure a couple inches less or more than they had anticipated.
Only problems for me personally (Coleton) with Holland is his lack of shooting along with his supposedly shorter than measurement height. If he goes into the combine and is a legit 6'7 or 6'8 he moves up in my eyes.
@@FromTheLogo I understand and I think most who might consider Holland have the same concerns. I've done a lot of research on him and before the season got underway shortly after his 18th birthday; the G League Ignite measured him out at 6'8" w/shoes, 203 lbs, and with a 6'10.5" wingspan. Also, in interviews, he has stated as much. So, that is something I'm really hoping turns out to be true or close to it. I think if he measures between 6'7" and 6'8" while eventually adding an additional 12 lbs or so without compromising his athleticism... that would be good enough to play at the small forward/wing position for us. As for his shooting woes, again, you're not alone in that concern with most fans. For me, I'm not worried about it. Although he was 24% from three this year, he did shoot .728% from the free throw line. And, that also carries a caveat that in the G League, you only get one free throw in the first 46 minutes. So, the true percentages are skewed as the value of each free throw is weighted differently, and he would have probably been closer to 75% had he been playing under non-G League rules. And then, I factor in the fact that he was this young 18-year-old kid shooting from the NBA three-point line as opposed to his college prospect counterparts for example, who shot from a much closer line. Another feather in the cap for me regarding him is that he probably was the only lottery prospect this year who was tasked as his team’s #1 option on offense and yet, also guarded the other team’s top scorers. All while still averaging 22 pts, 7.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.6 steals, and 1 block per 36 minutes. Ha, I should probably see if he won't consider me as his PR person, right! :)
Question for you guys. What is the financial impact to the salary cap depending where they pick? If I remember Wimby's 1st year pay was North of $12 million a year. For a team right at the luxury tax, they may want to draft lower to save money. 🤑🤨 Go Blazers!
Yeah there is a sliding scale for how much each rookie makes in the draft, with the number 1 pick making over 10 million guaranteed and then slowly descending until the 2nd round, where contracts aren't guaranteed. Since the goal is to tank, I think the blazers will be happier the higher they draft, as some payers will get traded this offseason to duck the tax (Brogdon maybe Grant)
the good thing about the draft is with both picks we should be able to fill out a couple positons of need, theres some solid wings/bigs we can pick from
I think franchise player development make just as much of a difference than a prospect’s rating. Look at what the Warriors are doing with their 57th pick, Trayce Jackson-Davis.
True, and you can find contributors late like Jabari walker or Camara. Only problem is I doubt Blazers are going to add 4 more rookies this year, might do something like trade second rounders away.
Not so much win, just see any sign.of a system with prospects playing well. I think we'd be ok with the tank if Shaedon, scoot, our rookies etc. look good out there.
I understand losing isn't fun in the moment, but winning now is absolutely not the right move. If we try to "win now" we will be the kings pre the last 2 years.. In order to pivot towards winning you need an established difference maker, maybe two. Name me one player on the Blazers who is an established top tier talent? We have some intriguing pieces, that is all. Next year's draft is full of top tier potential, this year's has some guys that hopefully will be nba starters. The tank is going on for at the very least one more year and it's obvious.
Yeah maybe not "win now" next season but see some development from the prospects on the team and any sign of cohesiveness from the young guns. This year was tough with the injuries.
@@FromTheLogo Totally. This year didn't tell us much about a lot of things we need answers to. hopefully next season we get to see some young guys take the next step, even if doesn't equal many wins.

@FromTheLogo it's incredibly frustrating that Jody still hasn't sold the team. I think Phil Knight is the perfect person to revitalize the team and make some necessary improvements that have gone ignored. Who else is even interested that has roots here? IMHO, I think Monty Williams would be a great replacement for Chauncey. He's taken a real beating with the Pistons, but he has a great resume and has coached here before. Definitely somebody who could bring a true vision to Portland and the front office could get for cheap given the current Detroit woes. It would also be hilarious to see him chase Ayton out of town 🤣
Until after the draft lottery, I'm not making a mock draft, this draft is all over the place, I"m thinking Sarr will go one depending on who first pick, I just can't see Detroit taking Sarr (unless they play him at the 4) Blazers if you take Sarr and you think he's the real deal,, then you either play Grant at the 3 or move him, From what I've seen from Knecht he can score but didn't see hardly any defense, there's so many unknowns , and I usually just watch highlights of foreign players because I can't understand the announcers . Okay so if the Blazers take a wing with the first selection, what are your thoughts about Ware with the second selection, I don't see Clingan being there ( I think he'll go top ten maybe even five)
Detroit is a mystery but I think they would take Risacher for fit purposes unless they want to move on from Duren already. Ware is a possibility and I'm sure the Blazers will want to go Best player available, but in my mind they take 2 wings in this draft. I could see a big though especially if its Sarr.
Getting Sarr would be amazing but they have to get 1 for that. I just say tank for Cooper Flagg if every single decent player on the team wants to miss every other game next season being soft
Capture the Flagg would be great. I do think it's an overall directive for players to have "injuries" for the tank and to not rush back. Some of the knee contusions could likely be played through.
If not 1, I’m look at Matas. He has that irrational confident to be the guy and can play make at 6’10. Zacch shooting as fallen off shooting wise and has no playmaking ability
Yeah I'm team Matas as well. If the Blazers were at number 5 or so and Sarr Buzellis Cody Williams are gone I'd take Risacher, who's played over 60 games this year and just had a solid last game.
Saying that the "Blazers need to win now" is one of the absolutely most irresponsible and ridiculous comment to make during a rebuild. Where do we get talent if not high draft picks? Now that Dame has been traded, this is the 1st year for the rebuild. Joe has done a good job thus far. Danny Marang said it, and he is 100% right... This fan base is not ready for this rebuild. We suck, and we need to suck for years until we draft well enough that we have a young talented team. Ie OKC and Boston. Tank more than this year for Cooper Flagg next year. Rip City.
I'd argue the tanking started Dame's last season so this isn't year 1 of the rebuild. Not so much win now, but see some development from the prospects at least. This team will most likely be the worst team in the West next season even without tanking. Seeing some flashes from the prospects and some cohesiveness between the young guys would be nice, as even if say Scoot and Shaedon play well together it's not likely to lead you to wins to make a difference. My best guess is blazers have a bottom 4 record again next season, but it would be nice to see the young guys including the rookies playing well together for at least a stretch before shutting the whole team down.
I think the NBA needs to step in and handle this situation. You have a rogue owner, a completely unqualified and malicious GM, and a complete dud of a head coach. This has been a controlled demolition the entire time. The goal is to destory a once great franchise, it wont stop until the league steps in.
The proper way to rebuild would be to tank next year as well.
Yeah that seems to be a popular sentiment. Watching tanking is tough but the payoffs can be worth it!
