    scenario 1 - Hope well get Sarr and maybe Holland will drop enough to draft him as well as a pair (or Cronin will try to move up). That will be probably the most defensive team we can build around. Scenario 2 - Buzelis and Kel'el pair will be nice.. since scoot is not much of a shooter he needs to have a lights out shooters at SG SF and stretch big. 2nds round picks purely depending on who we draft in the lottery..

    Regarding the draft: Since 2017 (the Zach Collins draft) I actually think we've done a really good job of drafting: 2018 brought us Gary and Ant, who have both developed into rotation level players at bare minimum, which is good/great value for late first/early second round. 2019 we drafted Nassir Little, who has not panned out into anything especially good but also had some unfortunate injury luck and also can't really be pointed at as the "guy before a big hit" in the draft. Sure, you have a guy like Claxton or Gafford but do they move the needle? Maybe a miss but not a big one. 2020 we had one 2nd rounder and spent it on a 2nd round talent in CJ Elleby. Not much doing there. Maybe we could've gotten Sam Merrill instead. 2021 we had no picks but brought in Trendon who was really solid for an undrafted FA (until we cut him, of course). 2022 we drafted Shaedon and Jabari, who both look promising relative to draft position. 2023 we drafted Scoot, Kris and Rayan, who haven't necessarily impressed yet, but also it's easy to go with "too early to tell" and the potential is there. Plus we acquired Camara and Reath, who look like steals relative to (un)draft(ed) position. I think the issue is moreso how we've managed the selections we don't make due to trades, and constructing the roster with the assets we acquire or divest. Overpaying and underselling on CJ, RoCo, Norm, Larry Nance and Josh Hart doomed us to running back an under talented team around Dame for a few years before the wheels fully came off. And it's gonna take more work than just hoping we get better to build back up to where you can look at the team as even potentially contending one day. Realistically, we're in no position to shed draft capital and there will have to be a few more contracts moved to avoid the luxury tax bill. I think it's unlikely we prioritize winning over hunkering down for the future. #CaptureTheFlagg

    Saying that the "Blazers need to win now" is one of the absolutely most irresponsible and ridiculous comment to make during a rebuild. Where do we get talent if not high draft picks? Now that Dame has been traded, this is the 1st year for the rebuild. Joe has done a good job thus far. Danny Marang said it, and he is 100% right... This fan base is not ready for this rebuild. We suck, and we need to suck for years until we draft well enough that we have a young talented team. Ie OKC and Boston. Tank more than this year for Cooper Flagg next year. Rip City.

    • @FromTheLogo
      @FromTheLogo Před 8 dny

      I'd argue the tanking started Dame's last season so this isn't year 1 of the rebuild. Not so much win now, but see some development from the prospects at least. This team will most likely be the worst team in the West next season even without tanking. Seeing some flashes from the prospects and some cohesiveness between the young guys would be nice, as even if say Scoot and Shaedon play well together it's not likely to lead you to wins to make a difference. My best guess is blazers have a bottom 4 record again next season, but it would be nice to see the young guys including the rookies playing well together for at least a stretch before shutting the whole team down.

      Capture the Flagg would be great. I do think it's an overall directive for players to have "injuries" for the tank and to not rush back. Some of the knee contusions could likely be played through.

    I understand losing isn't fun in the moment, but winning now is absolutely not the right move. If we try to "win now" we will be the kings pre the last 2 years.. In order to pivot towards winning you need an established difference maker, maybe two. Name me one player on the Blazers who is an established top tier talent? We have some intriguing pieces, that is all. Next year's draft is full of top tier potential, this year's has some guys that hopefully will be nba starters. The tank is going on for at the very least one more year and it's obvious.

      @FromTheLogo it's incredibly frustrating that Jody still hasn't sold the team. I think Phil Knight is the perfect person to revitalize the team and make some necessary improvements that have gone ignored. Who else is even interested that has roots here? IMHO, I think Monty Williams would be a great replacement for Chauncey. He's taken a real beating with the Pistons, but he has a great resume and has coached here before. Definitely somebody who could bring a true vision to Portland and the front office could get for cheap given the current Detroit woes. It would also be hilarious to see him chase Ayton out of town 🤣

    @scootover7 Před 9 dny

    Until after the draft lottery, I'm not making a mock draft, this draft is all over the place, I"m thinking Sarr will go one depending on who first pick, I just can't see Detroit taking Sarr (unless they play him at the 4) Blazers if you take Sarr and you think he's the real deal,, then you either play Grant at the 3 or move him, From what I've seen from Knecht he can score but didn't see hardly any defense, there's so many unknowns , and I usually just watch highlights of foreign players because I can't understand the announcers . Okay so if the Blazers take a wing with the first selection, what are your thoughts about Ware with the second selection, I don't see Clingan being there ( I think he'll go top ten maybe even five)

    • @FromTheLogo
      @FromTheLogo Před 8 dny

      Detroit is a mystery but I think they would take Risacher for fit purposes unless they want to move on from Duren already. • @FromTheLogo

      Yeah there is a sliding scale for how much each rookie makes in the draft, with the number 1 pick making over 10 million guaranteed and then slowly descending until the 2nd round, where contracts aren't guaranteed. Great listen! Thanks guys! For our first two picks (#1 - #7 and #13/14), in order, my preferences are Sarr, Holland, Buzelis, Clingan, Knecht, and Salaun. My top two favorites are Sarr and Holland. Holland seems kind of polarizing for some fans; but, for me, I think he'll be really good! The upcoming combine will probably shift people's projections even more once players either measure a couple inches less or more than they had anticipated.

    • @FromTheLogo
      @FromTheLogo Před 8 dny

      Only problems for me personally (Coleton) with Holland is his lack of shooting along with his supposedly shorter than measurement height. If he goes into the combine and is a legit 6'7 or 6'8 he moves up in my eyes.

    • @dellblackman4565
      @dellblackman4565 Před 8 dny

      @@FromTheLogo I understand and I think most who might consider Holland have the same concerns. I've done a lot of research on him and before the season got underway shortly after his 18th birthday; the G League Ignite measured him out at 6'8" w/shoes, 203 lbs, and with a 6'10.5" wingspan. Also, in interviews, he has stated as much. So, that is something I'm really hoping turns out to be true or close to it. I think if he measures between 6'7" and 6'8" while eventually adding an additional 12 lbs or so without compromising his athleticism... that would be good enough to play at the small forward/wing position for us. As for his shooting woes, again, you're not alone in that concern with most fans. For me, I'm not worried about it. Although he was 24% from three this year, he did shoot .728% from the free throw line. And, that also carries a caveat that in the G League, you only get one free throw in the first 46 minutes. So, the true percentages are skewed as the value of each free throw is weighted differently, and he would have probably been closer to 75% had he been playing under non-G League rules. And then, I factor in the fact that he was this young 18-year-old kid shooting from the NBA three-point line as opposed to his college prospect counterparts for example, who shot from a much closer line. Another feather in the cap for me regarding him is that he probably was the only lottery prospect this year who was tasked as his team’s #1 option on offense and yet, also guarded the other team’s top scorers. All while still averaging 22 pts, 7.5 rebounds, 3.3 assists, 2.6 steals, and 1 block per 36 minutes. Ha, I should probably see if he won't consider me as his PR person, right! :)

    This year it really is Edey vs Klingan and Klingan is faster but we will see who will prevail in the national championships 1 on 1. We will see if weight or speed prevails.

    It's the worst. It is almost impossible to lose by 60 in todays league, let alone twice and especially when you only put up 159 total points across both losses in a league where scoring has NEVER been easier. This narrative of "draft pick hope" - I mean what was the last draft pick that really worked out for the Blazers? It was Dame in 2012. Crossing fingers on turning two potential lottery picks into franchise altering stars? - given how fragile the success of almost any pick is in the league these days if even one of them turned into a legitimate franchise leading talent it would be a miracle. But the biggest reason - it's that somehow Billups has managed to avoid any heat based on the "well what can you really do with a bad team" logic. Sure - nobody is saying this roster is the Celts or the Nuggets, but this team has repeatedly quit on him and he does not have the charisma or ability to stop this happening. There is not even anybody on this team even worth watching it's that bad - at least the rehab 'Zers had that. As long as Cronin and Billups are there this franchise is a dumpster fire and the terrible roster is just the cherry on the poop sundae. Oh and Riley is right, Scoot Henderson had everybody fooled - good for him, he got his bag no matter what, he will never need to work another job in his life - but he simply doesn't have the talent on an emotional/intangible level for that caliber of pick in the league.

      May have to push back just a bit. I would say there are more blowouts now than ever before. This is due in part by how the game is played. Shooting 50 three pointers in a game can create wild swings. In the old NBA a ten point lead going into the fourth quarter was a tall task to overcome, now 25 points is not necessarily a safe lead with one quarter to go. You are correct about the ease of scoring but when one team is on and one is not you get really lopsided games. I am in no way sticking up for the team for having lost by 60 twice this year, that's just pathetic.

    To me the year Nate got fired, Andre Miller became Raymond Felton, Luke Babbit getting chalupas was the highlight of the Caleb Kanales season...Oden and Roy retired for medical reasons and Roy signed with the Wolves ....worst season ever.
