- In 2018, Beverly Downen of Downen Creative Studios went viral with her incredible Hela costume and super accurate (and adjustable!) headdress. For New York Comic Con 2019, she rebuilt and improved her suit, which in part included a technique of adding texture to fabric that totally impressed Adam Savage!

ArchangelExile She made it for Smoothon. They have her original Hela suit as well. You can’t see it but I made the stand (3D head scan/print) the headdress is sitting on.
@@coregeek Ah, thanks for the info. Figured she'd have a headdress for herself too since she's all dressed up. And I wish they showed the stand that you had made. I actually kind of expected the camera to pan towards the stand when Adam placed the headdress back. But, alas, it was not meant to be.
Adam's enthusiasm is infectious. I love how he blends fan boy excitedness with his expertise knowledge base. He compares notes with materials and techniques that few other people that interview could probably pull off. He also never attempts to instruct or be condescending which is just wonderful when watching someone of his experience. At the same time those he interviews seem to value his input and often give credit to him when applicable. Just a wonderful thing to watch.
So beautiful to see Adam show case makers and cosplayers aswell from time to time. Great to see.

Those of you wanting to see full outfit shots check out her instagram or website. I it seems like she doesn't wear the wig when wearing the headpiece so she may not have been able to wear it during the interview if she' was wearing a wig or if it was her real hair she might need to put it up. But I agree some shots edited in would have been nice.
wwaxwork I wish it had been possible to make that happen! But you’re right, it takes me several hours to prep my hair, etc to wear the helmet, and I just didn’t have the ability to borrow the helmet and prep in the same day. Logistics didn’t work out that day, but it was great to chat about it with Adam! ☺️

Ok so I’m not a cosplayer (too old) but what I’d like to know is with so many materials in a costume like this how is it cleaned?, You can’t just throw it in the washing machine and I’m sure no dry cleaning company would touch it.
Spray bottle filled with vodka is a common cosplay cleaning technique to wipe down the inside of the body suit. It sterilizes and is unscented.
What the ... how did you just have a 10 minute video and NOT let us see Beverly wear the darn thing ?
