Ragtimers San Diego '91

The St. Louis Ragtimers appeared in the San Diego Thanksgiving Jazz Festival several times in the 1990's. In this first appearance, a full television crew (4 cameras and with live switching by a Director) was used to record the one hour concert appearance. The audio quality is excellent. This live recording captured exceptionally good tone from the small spinet piano that seems to blend with the band and have a much warmer presence in the mix. The only video recording that compares, is the Public Television Festival recording in St. Louis on the Goldenrod Showboat. Personally, I think this may be the best playing I've heard by Trebor Tichenor in a live gig. While the lighting is not great, there are many telephoto closeups that bring us into the group.
