- StorytellHER tells the stories of two different women living in Jamaica at two different point in time, class and circumstances while experiencing the raw emotions of love and pain. The film highlights the fact that we are all different, yet so similar. StorytellHER also explores the idea that love & pain are synonymous and often times follows the other.
What is so beautiful about the treatment of this film is that each story can stand on its own while still being beautifully impactful, authentic and true.
“My Child” tells the story of a mother wrapped in the grieving memory of her daughter who was kidnapped, raped, and murdered by a man 3 years ago. Even though some time has passed, the pain is still fresh to this mother who lost her only child. Drowning in depression, guilt, alcoholism, and anger she confronts her daughter’s killer in an unconventional way.
“Words of An Abused Woman” is set in Jamaica in the 1950s and focuses on domestic violence. A woman now in an interrogation room unremorsefully explains to the investigator what lead to the murder of her boyfriend. Though not promoting violence, StorytellHER explores another unspoken truth and sometimes the end result of domestic violence. We see her go through the motions of love gain and love lost throughout the story.

Melessa Vassell and her team are set to do AMAZING THINGS. Talk about use of platform. Not only were the stories moving moving, but her delivery brought each character to life. It felt like sitting at the feet of each and absorbing the wisdom and folly of their lives. I can even imagine the iterations to come. LOVE! LOVE! Love it... A beautiful soul doing extraordinary things!

I love the flashbacksThis is such a beautiful example of how cinematography can and should be done in Jamaica. I love the care that was put into this project and I can’t wait to see the other stories that you have to show us.

Impressive writing , really liked the narration in the intro , could feel the emotions emitting from the story and your character played as a mother loosing her own to being a abused woman living her life on the streets
To dealing with aggressive emotions of a seemingly decent man at the initial point of meeting then unveiling his abusive nature of responses in different situations transitioning to having enough and physically killing not only the relationship but your partner and not having anyone judging your actions until they have had that experience for themselves ending with the similarities of stories and how powerful they are when told
