Hi guys, greetings from Oamaru. I loved the reference to signing a check regarding putting - so true! I too have been reminded of the silly phrase "never up, never in" from my playing partners when I leave a putt 6 inches short. My answer to that is "I've never seen a putt that's gone 3 feet past the cup go in either"! Thanks for uploading.

According to the National Science Foundation, 84.6% of all putts that come up short is the direct result of some degree of de acceleration through the ball impact area. They concluded in their study, a collaboration between NSF and the USGA that the causal effect of putts coming up short is a mechanical issue and not a mis read of the speed of the green.
So the next time you hear 'never up never in' just remember they're unknowingly saying there was deacceleration in your putting stroke. Accelerate through the ball and you'll eliminate the chance of the ball coming up short while improving the odds of the ball finding the hole. ⛳️
