His advice about no swing thoughts during the swing is sooo good. Played a round today and I hit it so pure.

This book helped me enjoy games and life itself again. I feel like I have no pressure. I see the difference in how free and fun I feel playing Overwatch or how I talk to others. Life changing and enjoyable.

5 minutes in... I have read countless books, textbooks, journal articles... Sat through a lifetime of lectures and audiobooks. This man has talent. This is legitimate. Carry on...

Where I play , we are sent right out to begin a round of golf. I say to the starter that I’m ready to lose my first ball. I don’t let Mark Twain’s expression bother me. The expression was, that golf is a ruined walk in nature.

Pursuing to be a professional disc golfer and have been told to listen to this. I’ve worked on my mental game a lot recently and this has had the greatest impact. I listened to it yesterday, this morning and on my way to play a league round after work. I shot a 1000 rated round with no bogies and an ace! I won in the advanced division winning $146. I think I’ll listen to some more Bob Rotella.

I am a 52 year old who has been an athlete my entire life, I've played all kinds of sports from recreational things like bowling and darts all the way to ice hockey, baseball and of course golf. I've been into fitness since age 14 and never before in my life have I encountered a sport which is as complex and counter intuitive as golf. My personal experience has been that the harder I try and the harder I swing, in other words, the more effort I put into the swing, the worse I play. On the other hand, if I hit the ball as though I don't care where it goes, I hit it well and straight. I first figured this out about 2 years ago while I was hitting into a net at a golf course before my round. It occurred to me that I really made good contact and miss-hit VERY few shots when I was in front of that net. But on the golf course I thin and chunk about 20% of the time. So I came to a place where there was and is a battle inside my head between 'letting go' and trying hard. It is a fascinating bit of human psychology and despite having the self discipline required to eat clean and train as often as I want to, I can't seem to master this, the art of swinging loose and carefree.

Quitting golf was the best decision of my.

Best golf book ever. This book changed my game. From a high single digit player to someone firmly 4-5 strokes lower. Finally conquering the mental aspect of the game after 40 years of playing the game

Yesterday, on the 4th hole the water is in play along the side of the tee box, for about 50 yards on the right. I hit 2 balls into the drink with my 5 wood, I hit my 5 iron and carried on. Finishing early I decided to play another 9. Got onto the tee box of the 4th hole again and pulled out my driver, which had come to life after my nightmare hole and proceeded to hit 2 more balls into the water. My exact thought at the top of my down swing was 'imagine I hit another two into the water'. Hence listen to this book today😅

I'm sure Tiger imagined holing that chip shot when he practiced during Masters. What a great tip. I will try to pick a spot where I chip to hole it vs get it close.

Wait what? I had no idea this was a thing. I read this book twice. Now, I'm going to listening to it.

I am re-listening to this 7 years after the last time I did. I no longer pursue ball golf competitively but I have started playing disc golf and I want to be competitive. This book carries over in every way. It’s all mental.

  • @rajp3667

Incredible book, will definitely be listening to it a couple more times! The mental game is equally important to the mechanical game, but the beauty is that this portion actually teaches you to enjoy the game more and have positive experiences on the course regardless of the results. It truly frees your mind! Nicely done Doc!! 👏👏👏

The hotstreak feels so good, then swing thoughts swarm in and I lose my focus… really, golf is a mental game.

  • @gnomekilla299

Bro it's so crazy that so much of my game came from this book. I read this and putting out of your mind like 15-20 years ago. Listening to them now, I realize just how important they were to improving my game.
