    I think that the exterior looks of the B8 is so sexy so it looks better than the B8.5, however, I think that the whole interior of the B8.5 is way more cool than the B8.

    for me personally the lines on the front end of the b8 look better, the way the hood lines follow through to the bottom of the front bumper. but the rear of the b8.5 is better imo.

    I hear of a lot of different issues with the transmission in the B8, mainly being the G676 sensor. Should I just focus on the B8.5 cause of that or is the issue the same on those? I’m simply looking at getting one and just going stage one and probably not much more, can the stock trans and stock clutch handle that? Thanks for the great info!

  • @jah_fiel2171

    Missed the most important thing to look for imo which is timing chain rattle on start-up. The only way to tell is to have the car sit over night and see if the oil drains from the tensioners. While common and supposedly not catastrophic, it's annoying and definitely something to consider when looking for any supercharged 3.Ot.

    • @TommyLinebarger
      @TommyLinebarger  Před 3 lety

      Not as common for these vehicles. I also didn’t touch on as much stuff that could fit in this video of some of the mechanic things too look for. Mostly just meant to be a part/package picker video

    went with the b8.5 because of the steering wheel, the newer mmi (still outdated compared to new ones, was thinking about putting a different screen in there for android auto and stuff), the shift was a big one, and i just like the look of the grille, headlights, and taillights so much better. used to like the b8's headlights more, but overtime it grew soft. I love the aggressive look on the b8.5 so much more now. and any time i see a b8, i just cant get an imagine of that god AWFUL shift knob out of my head LMAO.

  • @sociaaljessie5431
    @sociaaljessie5431 Před 3 lety

    These differences are only for the US market. In Europe we don't get flat bottom steering wheels unless its a top spec S and Pro line model. Same goes for the shifters unfortunately :(

    I own a 2012 Lincoln MKS eco boost it’s a 3.5l v6 twin turbo awd and i love it but it seems to be broken every couple months, i have heard the B8.5 is more reliable than the B8 but wasn’t sure if that was completely true. Been looking into this and a Cadillac ATS-v but this would be the cheaper option. I have never owned a foreign car because my dad is an engineer on classic muscle cars and he always tells me to stay away from them because of how expensive the repairs are. Please let me know!

  • @ryuhayabusa2458
    @ryuhayabusa2458 Před 4 lety

    the mmi is an optional thing, i have a b8.5 and unfortunatly the first ower cheaped out on the mmi system, so i can only make calls with bluetooth, not even blast music with it ( so not just a b8 thing ) .. the solution i found for that and made my car music suitable is buying a Tune2air with the audi mmi cable which can then be plugged in into the mmi adapter and the connection seems to be solid so far (using it for half a year ) i can also vouch for getting the sport diff aswell (even thought i don't have it) the s4 tend to oversteer quite easily when going to fast into corners, can be fixed by NOT going fast into a corner & blast your throttle once you're in it but still.. im hoping to fix this with H&R Sway bars in the future ( wish i just had the sport diff though ) overall the car seems to be pretty solid as a daily driver.. me personally im not the type of guy who needs a full option car, as long as i have decent seats, a sun roof and in this case a DSG automatic i'm happy, it also came with carbon trims & a full black interior with half alcantara seats, so basically all i desire, except for not having the sport diff that is.

      another option is b8society on instagram. they sell precut s4/supercharged emblem overlays with plenty of different colors for just a few bucks. Really easy to put on. I did gold for mine, and i really like it. Adds just a little bit more personality/uniqueness to the car. Since most people do the same mods (ecs cf diffuser, cf lip spoiler, cf front splitter, etc), you probably dont wanna look the same as everyone else lol.

Keep looking, deals are out there.

    • @jimmynewtron221
      @jimmynewtron221 Před 3 lety

      The manuals are not rare BUT getting all the desirable options can be like looking for a unicorn. Most folks did not order the excellent B&O stereo, the drive select option was more common but and the amazing trick diff had a very low take rate so tough to find.
      Great cars when you get them properly equipped but it's a search for sure as most folks selling them often just list them as "loaded" when they are anything but. To really know, look at the panel covering the spare wheel in the trunk and take a photo of the option list. Then decode them using one of the online tools to really see what is on the car...

    You said that your 100k miles is a high mileage car...
    Did you actually mean that? I.e. 100k miles for this make/model/trim is actually a worrisome?

    • @TommyLinebarger
      @TommyLinebarger  Před 2 lety

      In general, 100k miles is quite a bit for European cars. Bushing, lines, gaskets all start aging. parts get mileaged out or they weather causing decay. Inevitable fate with cars.

    • @ArtemLokhovitskiy
      @ArtemLokhovitskiy Před 2 lety

      @@TommyLinebarger well... That's a given.
      What I mean is for some cars 100k could mean it's time for a regular maintenance and replacement of parts that expected to give up (like some rubber components). And for some cars it could mean "if you are rich and financially irresponsible then continue to own the car and be ready for major components (like drivetrain or electrical) to fail soon regardless of maintenance and it will cost a lot".
      So... Within the diapason described above where does b8.5 S4 stand?
