  • 2011 Audi S4 Review featuring a model with almost 100k miles. This used Audi S4 has had the rear mufflers cut and is slightly lowered. The 2011 B8 S4 models are at an attractive price in the used market. See my Audi S7 Review here: • 2015 Audi S7 Sportback...
I have also driven a newer 2018 Audi S4 with a turbocharged V6 engine. I feel the older generation Audis tend to have more character in the way they drive. The 2011 B8 Audi S4 with its supercharged V6 and snappy dual-clutch transmission made for a very fun experience.

@@slo.asf.s386 are you thinking of the last generations V8? I haven't heard anything about timing issues with the 3.0 supercharged. I had a B8.5 and we loved that car. Had the DSG and dog went. Having a manual would be the way to go and that would be a really fun street car.

i have a B8 laser red Audi S4, i love that car. Like you said, the B8 S4 ages really well and i get compliments on the car all the time. As far as reliability goes mine has been pretty reliable the last 2 years. 81k miles to 88k currently, its not my daily driver but i still drive it a fair amount. Mine does have the dreaded "Gearbox Malfunction, you can keep driving" error code, unfortunately. The car drives perfectly fine but the error code is coming from a sensor in the DSG transmission. The only way to fix it is to pull the whole transmission out. Ive decided to wait until something else seriously goes wrong with the transmission and ill replace the whole thing with a B8.5 tranny.
I still recommended this car to anyone who wants a nice high performance sedan, the Audi quattro is unmatched. I recommend an S4 over an M3 any day. If you dont have little extra money for maintenance and if you dont have any shops(besides an Audi Dealer) near you that can work on Audis i dont recommend this car to you.

On the other hand I'm stage 2 430HP, 0-60 in 4.0 seconds and I love this car. Too many mods to list. 84000 miles at this point and I can still out run most things on the road, while getting 18/26 mileage. Interior and paint are almost perfect because I maintain it.

My 2010 S4 was purchased in 2014 with low miles and since then not one thing has failed on it. Most expensive repairs done are the brakes and spark plugs. It has 475hp and is a torque monster and you have to touch the throttle gently or it can spin all 4wheels if you are abrupt. None of my quattros spun wheels before. I always own several Audi and Porsche cars at all times like the red one in the pic.

This car is a base model with no options. Doesn't have a sport diff, No B&O, No color display. There is a spare tire normally it's missing in this case ( i've never tried to fit a full sized rim though). Fully recommend one. I have a manual stage 2+ even on the stock clutch and cooling and it's pretty indestructible for normal daily life. 93k mile car issues include, thermostat, water pump, fuel pump control module, carbon cleaning (was AWFUL), serpentine belt tensioner squeal. The only thing i hate about the car is the manuals have a clutch depression switch issue where you can't start it without pushing hard on the clutch which gets worse with wear.

I recently got a 2010 Infiniti G37x and crashed so it might be a total. That's got me slightly shopping for something else. It's funny when you hear this Audi S4 has a 6 cylinder with 330hp and AWD. My 2010 G37x has AWD and 328hp WITHOUT a supercharger. Probably slightly more reliable than a German car. But I know all cars have issues if you look hard enough... so I'm watching these videos and curious on owners who've actually had these cars for a long time and high mileage think about long term ownership experiences...

I bought a 2010 Audi S4 B8 that was really high milage, close to 300,000 kilometers on the chasis and approximately 150,000 on the motor. Common engine fault codes at this high are normally O2 sensors and an Air Control Circut issue. Generally speaking, if you also buy one high-milage (because yes, regardless of KM's, its a very quick car and awd, so for 10,000 or less, you literally cannot beat it) but generally, get a Carbon Cleaning done on the intake valves and ensure your MEC Unit (in the transmission) has been serviced already and the front coolant bypass has been done. Luckily mine had the ARP coolant bypass, an upgraded pully and a tune. It leaks oil from somewhere lol but other than that, really solid machine for being 20 years young.

I've got a '12, APR Stage 2+, dual pulley car with Armytrix cat back, HR Lowering springs, sway bars, APR Big Brake Kit, intake, some sick cosmetic stuffs. I've got 64K miles, I know, that's nothing as it stays in the garage a lot but I keep the oil very fresh, have changed tranny fluid one time, and that's about it. I've not had any repairs needed to be done other than when Audi recalled it in like '15 for the thermostat and replaced that for free, which is good since it's under the supercharger.
For farts and giggles I may get an ultra charger. All in all, this is a very strong car, very attractive and plenty quick so you can dust up the Camaro and mustang crowd which is always big fun.

Now I know that's alot for this kind of car and problems could occur but as long I keep up on the basic maintenance I should be good right?? I also do not beat the shit out of my vehicles and it's a private sale but from an older guy. What should i do I need opinions.. good or bad 😅

Don't need get a warranty, try to get a manual, will not have problems with the transmission and keep the money for potential repairs. Likelihood of repairs more expensive than the warranty is pretty low then. I own a 2010 manual and the only problem I had in 30k miles was a failed ride height sensor. Funnily that was also one of two issues I had with a B8 3.0tdi in 70k miles (the other was 3 failed door locks). B8 is currently probably as reliable as Audis ICE will ever get, they sorted a lot of problems from the past and was the last generation before the crazy emission control stuff.

@@shiftautomotive854 you can do your research. But not much models out there anymore. They're very underrated sleepers. They look like regular audi but with a tune they can do 0-60 in less than 3 sec. People are buying them used like hot cakes. I know because i was looking for one. specially with the manuals.. The facelift B8.5s are very bulletproof cars, that being said there are some issues you should be aware of.
Motor mounts above 50K miles, need to be checked tons of people have had theirs replaced under warranty right before 50K miles.
"creaking noise" on startup, this could be loose chain guides due to a faulty initial design. It's not a very common problem but it can happen. There is a TSB for it for 2013-2014 models, check for this issue before buying.
DSG is bulletproof, as long as it was properly maintained look at service records.
CATS will blow eventually. Even some stock cars will blow through their cats at higher mileage 60-80K. Beware.
Other than that, they are very solid reliable cars.
