I get a lump im my throat when Stuart addresses the crowd here. I became a lifelong fan of Big Country when I saw them live on their first American tour. I was 17 and it was one of the most electrifying, emotional and inspiring concerts I've been to. I was absolutely sure that they were going to take America by storm and become huge here. Shame on my fellow Yanks for not embracing such an incredibly talented and passionate band. It's their loss. God bless Stuart always. A beautiful human being.
I was lucky enough to have Stuart hand me and my girlfriend a couple of beers back in 1993. They were playing a small venue in Vancouver called the Town Pump. Maybe 80-100 people in there. Played their asses off and then took a break between sets. The whole band sat down at the table next to us (I was wondering why it was empty!). Stuart was wiping his face and then leaned over and asked if we were enjoying the show (man, were we!). A tableful of beer was dropped off after they all sat down and he picked up two of them and handed them over to us. For the next half-hour they signed autographs and chatted with every fan who came over. What an awesome night, seeing a band of this caliber in such a tiny venue. I cried like a baby when he died. RIP, Stuart...
Met Stuart more times than I care to remember and I was lucky enough to have Stuart serve me a couple of drinks in his pub in Dunfermline more than once, and one time his whole family ,Kirsten,Callum and Sandra sat at our table in the pub and chatted away for about 20 mins,he was a genuine humble guy ...one of the nicest people I have ever met..
I so miss that guy. When I think about what he could have done in the years to come as well. Great talent and from what I've heard - a genuinely good guy too.
Absolutely agree. The audience needed Stuart and Stuart needed the audience, that was the fuel for his guitar. I occasionally hear a Stuart Adamson chord or two in some new stuff from other people and I have to double take . Just glad there's so many live albums and bootlegs to bring back the memories.
Truly gifted musician, and deep man (classical subjects in songs - Lost Patrol, Porroh Man, etc), and an Adonis to boot. Seems like he would have just been a really amazing person to know, to chat with. A terrible loss, irreplaceable.
Saw BC about 15 times & each time Stu had us all eating out of his hands. He could have told us to do anything & we would have done it. the man was AWESOME!!!
Great cover done by a great band. The musicianship, the passion,Stuarts great vocals and stage presence, pure magic.I love this video. Thanks Isabelle.God Bless Stuart.
I post a lot to BC on youtube. I don't often hear about Stuart's incredible range and fidelity in singing. The guy was better live than in studio! No one is like that now. In fact, BC were better live than in studio... Best we can do is spread the word.
I have to say, that I am, so, jealous of all you people, that did get to meet Stewart & The rest of the guys in BC 😔 I just sit & watch their music and videos for hours!!!
Was lucky to meet the band in an undercover gig in Tonbridge shared some drink and chat in the beer garden saw them around 115 times as a mate interviewed Bruce and Stuart remembered him ....amazing under rated talent .....got after show a few times.....also saw them at HMV Oxford street and the odd convention so humble r.i.p Stuart.
was at the Memorial in Dunfermline and the tribute gig Barrowlands highly emotional evenings seeing Jim Leishman former manager of Dunfermline cry said it all.
Look of realizing he was near the end..so sad for a man of his talent...Sadly missed..genius,and all round genuine guy..Genuinely broken hearted when he died..Rip Great man.
@Nigelxman I could not agree with you more. This band should have been as big as any of them. How a band can have as many great songs as this band and yet be considered a one hit wonder is so unfair.i think that a huge mistake was made by not getting a second hit song out of the album The Crossing.I think that "Chance" should have been released as a second single in North America. It is a great song and i think it would have given them a second hit and a bit more momentum in America.Canadian Fan.
double yeah, in fact any of their songs is far better live than original. Perhaps it is related with the genuine fame of Stuart, as 'the scottish Endrix'.
I've only seen this song played better than Neil and crazy horse and that was Big Country ( and this is not the best version) and Pearl Jam. Still miss you Stuart.
@swassontelus no one's stealing anything...who are the fools exactly? This is just Big Country having a good old time on stage, you do know that right? I think it's ok to do a cover every so often after pumping out boat loads of brilliant original material, which is clearly and readily displayed to the right of this video. By that time, they created 9 years worth of brilliance, or put another way, a whole Hell of a lot more than 2 tunes. And BC fans don't throw donuts.
@sandilands2 Hey s***stick, you are correct, I was too busy listening to Slayer. To be honest, I read my previous rants and I know I was on rum. Yeesch. Since that post, I've lost 20 lbs and picked up a guitar and bought every album from Big Country. Peace bud.
I don't need lectures on depression or any other mental illnesses. GIve me a break. I was not asking why Stuart killed himself. Duh. Save your diatribes. And CAPITALIZING text doesn't make anyone read it with greater interest. Stop yelling. I love that BC chose to cover this Neil classic. Focus on the music. I know very well that Stuart suffered. I'd rather remember his brilliant compassion for humanity.

Agreed 100 % !

Mark
Thank you for sharing your story :)
One of the best bands I've ever seen.

Well said , and that was STUART a GREAT GUY ! .
way cool! BC rocks!
Lucky you . :)
Those where the days when you went to a concert to see a great band and listen to great music, and not stand with a mobile phone in the air 🎸🎤
It's impossible to believe that you're are dead, Stuart!! Great musician, great person! The whole world miss you!!
Stuart Adamson.....One of the most under-rated guitar players ever.........and that was the least of his talents. A true musical genius!
The greatest band in the history of music..Why,Stuart ,Why.. ? :(
A word for Bruce as well please....
I so miss that guy.
When I think about what he could have done in the years to come as well.
Great talent and from what I've heard - a genuinely good guy too.

OMG Stuart, really nailed that one.Absolutely amazing in everyway.Looks like the crowd thought the same.
Wonderful cover. Normally I don't acknowledge covers of Neil, this is wonderful. It even captures his anger and frustration.

I was there - a fantastic concert!

What a band what a voice. Greatest live band ever. They where really that good.
I've seen Big Country live and they were awesome. This is a great version of one of my favourite Neil Young songs.
4:24 I wonder what was inside his head in that moment.
Even doing cover tunes Stuart just made it his song, truly one of the greatest artists of all time, Rock and roll hall of fame? Should be there
I have to say, that I am, so, jealous of all you people, that did get to meet Stewart & The rest of the guys in BC 😔 I just sit & watch their music and videos for hours!!!
Met them all in '82, amazing band.....
He is a God in motion in this video.

Very cool cover Big fan of Big country!!!!
Love Stuart x
Yes, indeed. "We are all responsible for this world."
Well said moonvapors such a talented man was lucky enough to see him perform rip legend
Just love it. Saw him with Big Country once. Were special. My top band
Stuart was a beautiful caring person and some of the remarks here about sizes aren't worthy of fans of this band.
Topless and Superb Big Country but his sad eyes gave it away @ 4.27. Saddens anyone when he addressed the crowd. RIP Stuart.
Is there really anything better than a bunch of out-of-control awesome sexy guys holding hands after a smokin' performance? I think not.
Sweet...
I'd never heard them do this song but when I did I thought it was fan"fuckin"tastic. Their style was just incredible and will be hard to match.
Respect to Stuart, God bless man
Stuart younggggg adamson eterrrrrrrrnooooooooo😊❤
Super Job Isabelll´sche.
Keep on posting in the free world
Pure awesomeness
Eddie Vedder eat your heart out. This guy can sing and play some kickass bagpiping riffs. ;-)
there are some men who just shouldn't take their shirt off. stuart was not one of them:)
@stayalive378 wow. miss Stuart so much more every day. He was truly my hero and I wonder every day why we left us.
Superb, thanks for sharing this one.
God, they were good.
Oasis, Nirvana, Foo Fighters, Nickelback and the other "giants" can't hold a candle to them.
Best ever take
I'm with you on this, I was brought up with Mark on drums. :-)
How is it that everyone missed that look in his eyes?
henewitwasoverithink
Look of realizing he was near the end..so sad for a man of his talent...Sadly missed..genius,and all round genuine guy..Genuinely broken hearted when he died..Rip Great man.
'It's a great big world out there and all of us are responsible for it'
The covers Big Country played were tracks they loved themselves , so deal with it !!!!

💖💖💖
HA CHA, indeed!
We will never know why Stuart Adamson couldn't take his own best advice and "stayed alive".
A talented troubled soul finds peace...
Where was Mark Brzezicki?
That's Chris Bell of Spear of Destiny on drums, I think.
This must have been the shirtless tour!
double yeah, in fact any of their songs is far better live than original. Perhaps it is related with the genuine fame of Stuart, as 'the scottish Endrix'.
I've only seen this song played better than Neil and crazy horse and that was Big Country ( and this is not the best version) and Pearl Jam. Still miss you Stuart.
After the end of the song, it looks like Tony gives Stuart a pinch on the rear end.
Great crowd - a bit hot I think ??!!!!

Thanks for post.....anyone at the gig? any idea why they are all shirtless..presume hot night.....but all of them ???
Hihii, one little mistake at 0:15 : Am instead of C !
Add U2 to that list as well!
"The nude version" 🤣
must be hot if the keyboard player has his top off lol.
Put some shirts on!
Not a bad take on the song at ALL.
someone forgot to turn on the distortion devices.it's not lame.it's TAME.
@Baxx2008 He was hoping the camera added 10 pounds. I can't believe the fans never threw donuts on stage for these artsie dudes.
I hope they earned enough money from this gig to buy shirts.
@sandilands2 Hey s***stick, you are correct, I was too busy listening to Slayer. To be honest, I read my previous rants and I know I was on rum. Yeesch. Since that post, I've lost 20 lbs and picked up a guitar and bought every album from Big Country. Peace bud.
why didn't they wear their shirts? Ha Ha
Ellen Perks because they all have great physiques , and it's hot hot hot 👅
@MrHistorian123 Mmmm not sure. Love Big Country, but Nirvana and the Foo's are as good in their different ways.
Who´s the drummer?
That sir is the legendary Mr Mark Brzezickis....
I didnt recognize him!´Yes, legendary. GREAT, GREAT MUSICIAN AND GREAT GROUP! Thank you very much, Roy!
Roy Meadows thats not brz. he had left the band at that time, possibly pat ahern maybe
wildheart Thank you WH!
Sorry..your right..Apparently it`s a guy called Chris Bell...Great drummer .

This is pretty bad if you've ever seen "shakey" do it or PJ but can't do justice always :)
sorry ................some people should have a shirt on
Any top 100 guitarist of all times not including S. Adamson is worthless...
