Ahhhh Ashlena...where do I start. Ok...Flake (pianist) loves to walk. He often walks a few miles through the city before concerts. The band therefore didn't think the idea of the treadmill was bad. Most people remember this more than the fireworks IN the hall. In German, the words "Du Hast (you have)" and "Du Hasst (You Hate)" sound the same, which in turn means an ambiguity in the song. This means that you can keep your own opinion about it. That's also true 😉. Think about it... Rammstein sings in German.... in France.... Paris.... over 10,000 French fans... and ALL of them sing in German! Rammstein videos are pure art that you shouldn't miss. If one of your Patreons wants the video for "Adieu" that would be the next choice. They're good live anyway. I have RS on my playlist together with (now) The Warning... The entire thing about Du Hast and Du Haast is garbage. This song is about how trust and loyalty tend to be one-sided. It is about how that is typically one way. This is the typical thing that the band has done in the past. It is not about hate, per se. It is about the concept of loyalty typically being one way.

Most Rammstein fans won't think so deeply about the lyrics if the word hasst/hast (hate/have) appears in the song. Not that the fans are stupid, but because with this rhythm you leave the thinking to the philosophers😊. Everyone can interpret the text the way they like it. That's the good thing about the simple text.😅
hast = have or hasst= hate, This possibility exists in the language, so this word can be understood either way. Your reaction was great and if it doesn't work out technically, you can still see the heart behind it

Just wait until you see Till Lindemann set himself on fire, while singing. He is their main Pyrotech, and sets up all of that for the shows. Dudes certifiable, but knows how to put on a live show. They need seven 747 jumbo jets to transport all their stage gear, and 80 semi-trucks to get all of it to the venues. They have one of the largest touring crew in the industry, and sell out a full years worth of shows in a day. The fan base is global and massive. (hint...keep going) 🤘

Hallo. You are right with your Translation. "Du hast" can mean you hate or you have. In german the words for hate and have are only in their way to wright different. The word for hate got two "s" "hasst" and the word for have one "s" in the middle "hast". But these two words sounds simular. When Till Lindemann is singing "Du, du hast, du hast mich" it can be translate to "you, you hate, you hate me" or "you, you have, you have me". Later, when he is ending the sentence, you know what it means: "Du hast mich gefragt" word by word translate to "You have me ask" now not correct in english grammatics. When you read the title you know what it is because the "hast" in the title have only one "s" in the middle, so it means "have". And Flake, the keyboarder, wanted to have something to do during a Show. He said that nobody take notice of him when he is only standing at the Keyboard. So someone had the Idea with the trapmill. But I do not know who. But Flake is walking many miles during each live Show!! Sorry, when my english is Not so good. Many greetings from Duisburg in Germany!

Flake is hyperactive and he quickly gets bored on the keyboard. So he wanted a treadmill. That's basically it.
In the future it is worthwhile to choose the rammstein songs with English subtitles, these exist through fans for almost every song. The official videos usually don't have them. So if you get suggestions for songs, enter English subtitles after the band name and title in the search bar. It would be a shame if you don't understand the mostly profound or even hilarious lyrics.
Flake has said before that it gets boring just standing still while playing, so they gave him a treadmill for that exact purpose. Where did you hear that Flake is hyperactive?😊

This were 2 Shows in 2012 in Paris with 30 cameras and a bit of editing.
The lyrics translation issues are intentional. They use the homonyms "hast" and "hasst" meaning "have" and "hate".
So pick whichever you like. The meaning is only clear with 4 words: "Du has(s)t mich" is "you have/hate me" whereas "Du hast mich gefragt" is clearly "You've asked me"
Rammstein still performs in the original setup from 1994.
Flake on the treadmill uses the treadmill a) as a show effect b) to focus his energy and thoughts

Lyrics in a nutshell:
The first three words are "Du hast mich" (you have me) which at that moment doesn't make any sense in German. But it sounds (intentionally) the same as "Du hasst mich" (you hate me). Later in the song, the first three words are extended to a full sentence: "Du hast mich gefragt und ich hab nichts gesagt." (You asked me and I did not answer.) And then, to show what he was asked, the chorus is a wedding vow: "Willst Du bis der Tod euch scheidet treu ihr sein für alle Tage?" (Do you want to be faithful to her for all days until death do us part?) This is answered first by a kind of female voice "Ja" (yes) and afterwards by Till's harsh voice "Nein!" (No!). These - plus a slightly obscene word play on the wedding vow, that I will not explain here - are the whole lyrics (repeated a few times).
As mentioned in the "making of" of that song it's about the connection within the band. They never had a line-up change since their start in 1994. The lead gitarrist once said, the band is like a marriage without sex.

Aaaaah RAMMSTEIN one of my favorites, saw them live back in 2022 in their north America tour, it was awesome one of the best shows I been, I totally recomended you to listen to armee der tristen, one their song from their lates album.

In an earlier episode of this concert TIlde (the singer) "kills" the synth player. He gets ressuracted with electricuty and that is why he is sparkly and needs to move all the time, he is more a robot now. :D

It's "have" but you can't tell before they complete the sentence as "hast" - have and "hasst" - hate sound the same in German and are only one s apart in written form. So it requires context that they only give you in the later repeats. it goes "you - you have/hate - you have/hate me - you have me asked..." The song is a play on wedding vows where "hate" fits in nicely ;)
They have both awesome videos AND live shows, so you could do double reactions where you watch both, or just make it separate clips and watch the video first if you like.
For live stuff i'd recommend the videos from their Paris and NY MSG shows as they are the best quality. And the videos of their Zeit album all come with decent english subtitles if you use the translate function in youtube. Lyrics for older stuff are mostly not there but you can easily find those online or you can watch them from people like educated marine who likes to add subtitles.

My three favourite bands are Rammstein, Band Maid and The Warning. Their native languages are German, Japanese and Spanish and I don't understand any of them, but kick ass music is a universal language. I became a fan when I first heard Du Hast eight years ago, Till's voice is very distinctive. I'd say like Band Maid and The Warning they don't have any bad songs.

He is on that treadmill the whole show. They have more pyrotechnics than any band out there, and the singer designs it all. They have a fan area called the fire zone or something like that. The singer has recently been accused of serial assault under the stage between songs and at their legendary after parties. Nothing has been proven yet, though, but several accusations have been made.
