- Today, I'm showing you the easiest way I know to sew inseam pockets. I love pockets as much as the next person, and I wish more clothes had them! This tutorial will show you how to make them for your next sewing project. Use this technique to add pockets to your favorite pair of pants or skirt too!

This is probably the best video online about how to make side seam pockets, short, clear and easy to follow. One suggestion would be that if you are ever thinking of re-making this video, to perhaps use fabric that clearly has a right and wrong side, as in a print fabric. Understanding how to get the right sides INSIDE the pocket can be tricky for a newbie.

I did this today for the first ever pocket I sewed into my first ever me-made dress (the pattern doesn't include pockets, sacrilegious!), and it worked like a charm! The instructions were so easy to follow and the result looks great. Thanks a lot for making this video!

Excellent tutorial thank you. Very to the point, I love it. Could you please explain how best to finish off the raw edges of the pocket, and is it best done before or after you’ve sewn in the pockets? Many thanks again xx
An overcast stitch or pinking shears are probably the easiest ways. Depending on the pocket shape, you could also bind all the seam allowances. It really depends on the project and how fancy you want to get!
