    OMIGAWD! I was trying everything, with no success, and losing sleep and getting crazy trying to create this bootable Windows 10 USB from my Mac to have a way to resurrect my husband's recently demised Lenovo (following the most recent Windows update--Thanks, Microsoft!). Your instructions were VERY clear, easy to follow, and even though I had a bit of a time installing Homebrew (totally on me and my sleep deprivation), I got it to work and created the Windows 10 bootable USB.       When you boot up the custom pc for the first time, do you just have to click the SETUP.EXE files, or was it easy to setup on the custom pc after plugging the usb

    Hey i have a situation that if you could provide a solution for me
    I installed mint on my mac(deleted the macos and installed mint) and then created a windows 10 bootable USB to boot from but when i press the option but the bootable USB doesn't show also when i press cmd+R for recovery mode it shows me a terminal that has bash-3.2# written on it, i want to boot from the USB what solution do you have for me plz?

    Doing everything you did and typing everything in that you typed, all I end up with is "command not found: wimlib". What am I missing here? This seems like it shouldn't be this difficult for me.

    This is an excellent video! Thank you for the clear and concise instruction. Other bulletin boards were stating software purchase was necessary (to create a bootable disk from a Mac) and your video proves it clearly untrue.       you have to follow the steps after the homebrew installation command is executed it was “x” something and then you just follow the instructions on the terminal

      It means enter your normal password. Sudo is usually for programs that need extra privileges.

      No, you still have to split it because the formatting only allow for 4gb.

    Downloaded windows 10 iso 32 bit multi version on my MacBook Air but was wondering why the install.wim is only 3.7gb do I still have to split this file to make a bootable usb. Thanks

      Because you downloaded the 32 bit version instead of the 64 bit version. If you can fit it in the USB without it giving an error, you should be fine.

      No, because it wouldn't let you copy the sources folder because FAT has a limit of 5 gigs. That file is necessary for the USB to work.

      Yes. FAT only supports 4gb. You can try using ExFat, but I haven't tested it.

    If I understand this correctly, you can plug in the boot flash drive that is created and the Mac software will read it? I have a Mac pro a1186 emc 2113 that is 2.66ghz. it is a model from 2006.

      You need to open the macOS boot menu and boot from it that way.

      Try right clicking and hover over "Open With" and see if Disk Image Mounter is there. If it is, click on that.

    Currently having issue when I run the brew install wimlib. It does through all the installing process then get stuck at a point where it just says ==> make. When I click the button to close terminal it says closing terminal will terminate the running process ruby(4), clang(6), make(2), sh.

      Try uninstalling homebrew, re-install and run the command again. It might take some time to install.

      Because I have the community version of IntelliJ which only lets you use java and a handful of other languages. Because VSCode sucks for Java, I use IntelliJ for Java and then for Python, Javascript, etc. I use VSCode.

      You have to boot into the USB. This depends on your motherboard, but usually you restart your computer and push a series of keys to load your BIOS. You can then boot from the USB (depends on your motherboard's instructions).
