It is easy to escape it: just get hunger low on 0.5 hp, then if a guard comes and gives you food and he tells you:"eat it"(or so) then you just say no... In the end, he hits you and you die... Becouse there is no respawn bed in there, you'll respawn in your home/spawnpoint
Stop calling it a prison. It is an escape room. A real prison will not let the prisoner out easily while allowing visitors to go in and out and interact with the prisoner fairly easily. An escape room is this, a puzzle in which a specific set of actions is used to escape.
After getting the powdered snow, you could have place it where you broke the unreachable crafting table to push towards you, getting one more block.
