Did you happen to try the Motorcraft friction additive? It's roughly a 10oz bottle. I think it was 10 or 11 bucks.
Fixed my 4R70W right up!! Shifts and pulls like new now.

Hey, thanks for watching my video. ...
I have read about that additive and saw mixed reviews in regards to of it works or not.
What transmission problems where you having before you used that additive?

@@pantherwavecrownvics I had sluggish shifts through all gears and every once in awhile a shudder going into overdrive. I don't remember exactly where I heard about this additive. My local parts house had to order for me. Which only took a day. But I can honestly say that it's made a noticeable difference. I'm normally pretty skeptical when it comes to additives. But I'd stand behind this one. I mean no, it's not going to fix a transmission that's all clapped out or a converter that's smoked. But it did fix up my issues.

      @@abitoffcenter383 Hmmmm 🤔🧐........
Thanks for the feedback, I currently have the shudder fix additive in the fluid now. On my trans, I feel like the converter is slipping when in overdrive. My rpms are slightly higher at cruising speeds. I used to get almost get 30mpg on the highway now it's like I have a 3.73 gear and only can get 22-25mpg on the highway on a road trip.
On my next fluid change I will try that Ford additive.
My trans shifts pretty good at times, one moment it shifts snappy on 1-2 shifts and the other times it's lazy/jerky.
In the future I want to install a built valve body.

@@pantherwavecrownvics Well hopefully that additive will work for you until you're able to do more in depth work on it.

How often should you drain and refill your trans fluid I have a 99 with 64000 on it .

Wow thats awesome... 64k that's unheard of for a 99.... About three years ago I bought my 99 with 86k on it and now it has 122k. The manual says change trans fluid every 30k. I am about do for another fluid change my self.

Mine says change the fluid at 150k, 30k if for the trucks

How do you align drain plug to the hole?

      Thanks for watching my video.
I used a socket and breaker bar to rotate the engine clockwise, until I can feel the little screw on the torque converter thru the hole.

How many quarts did you drain from the pan and torque converter? Idk how much trans fluid to buy

My last transmission fluid pan drop and torque converter drain, it was 3 gallons of fluid.

@@oOgy172 I bumped it close with the starter, then used a long breaker bar to turn the engine until I felt the drain plug with my hand.

Fluid was dirty but not horrible. I am still having converter slippage tho. I was informed it maybe a wirring issue for torque converter switch solenoid.

@@pantherwavecrownvics I just did mine 2 days ago. 2002. After seeing how horrible the bottom of my pan and magnet looked I decided to leave the TC alone. I also discovered the pan had never been dropped due to the dip stick plug which was still in the pan from the factory. You would have never known by the dip stick because my fluid still showed red and transparent on a paper towel but once I got the pan down it was indeed very dark . The magnet was over capacity on what it could hold so the bottom of the pan had quite a bit of sludge. I was pretty nervous man….. but believe it or not …. With new fluid it quite shuddering , for now. I will probably drop the pan again next oil change to see how dirty is is next go round.

@@danielsmith8659 nice, yeah my fluid had been changed at least once or twice before i purchased the car. When I did my first official transmission fluid change I had my pan dropped, then i had a dorman pan with drain plug installed, new filter and fluid. After that it was doing fine for awhile. Then i took a second road trip and was noticing my rpms was higher than normal cruising. Basically like if i had a 3.55 gear installed.
So my next thing to do is probably let my fluid drain again, drop pan, install new filter and refill with proper fluid.
Hopefully this can help with ,y torque converter slippage. It goes thru all the gears and overdive pretty much perfectly.
My fluid did the same thing to me it showed bright red on stick and paper but when fluid was drained it was dark red.

@@pantherwavecrownvics when the time comes I’m gonna rebuild it , hopefully that’s way in the future . I just hope that , it’s normal wear parts that fail, and I don’t strip a splined part or anything like that.

@@danielsmith8659one more thing I figured out that I should have done after I drained my torque converter, l should have reset the computer so that the computer can adjust the transmission controls with the new fluid in torque converter.
