First time I seen this dude play was back in 1997. My homie and I went to Tye Tribbett's church to visit in Camden NJ. He was the church drummer at that time.

They’re nice, but they’re way to expensive, imo.
You got to admit though, the finishes are extremely nice. And if you can’t afford the collectors, you have 3 other options, pdp, performance, or design.
Been 3-4 years since your presence that I'm aware of. Yeah, you had to manuver some drumsticks during accented breaks, yup, you never let that stop your mission, respect!!!

I think for the style he’s playing, they sound great. DW make something for pretty much any drummer, but there are a lot of other great drum company alternatives. Find what works for you enjoy it & let other people enjoy what they like. Life’s too short to complain as much as people seem to these days, we must have it too good... LOL 😂🤪😎🤗👌🏼👍🏼😀
I have a DW collector's from 2000 and the sustain is unbelievable. They are also surprisingly loud. But I agree that their youtube demonstration videos do not do the drums justice. Even with great headphones or monitors, the different series are indistinguishable from each other. Dw drums needs to take a better look at their video editing options.

Are those ambassador weight heads? Finally DW drums tuned up where they should be! Everyone always has DW's tuned so low they sound like a cardboard box.

Comments are rude ...i would feel sad if i was Endorsed by DW and get bad review...It could cost is Endorsement Contract....Its freakin hard to get a Support from any company...if you dont like the sound/tone of is kit maybee you guys should get Knowledge about ROOM mics....HE IS IN A WAREHOUSE #1 and is Level are maybe not set for it #2. and #3?? What did he do ?to be bullied by you guys...??
that's the best I've heard DW 's sound live, although the snare is dead. nice laying and drum tunings.

How is the Gong Drum / other bass drum mounted??
Just assuming here but it's most likely a tom mount (double or single idk) but one on each side. prolly a 9000 series stand to hold that big mama jama of a drum lol
It has two DWSM2141 clamps on each side (4 total) with a 1/2" bar connecting them. From there is connects to the stand (on each side) using a short boom arm (912s) into a mg-3 clamp. The boom arm has the regular tilter swapped out with a puppy bone (dwsm2031) tilter so it can hold on to the 1/2" bar. That bar is called a doobie bar which normally is used to connect woofers to bass drums.

Reminds me of the finish Tama came out with for their starclassic jungle quilted bubinga. The Tama finish looks better imo.

Idk... Every DW series sounds almost identical. Shells just dont sing, they sound pre-eq’d. Just flat live. The hardware is seriously deadening the shells. Way too much hype behind the name DW, never heard a kit that made me say “wow”. Even Sonor is making bigger waves. It just sounds ok, but not at the prices they try to justify.

I have heard some good sounding DW drums before, BUT these aren't them. Very dead sounding, needs to take off the bottom heads to let the sound out in my humble opinion. Let them drums ring out for fuck sake...
That makes sense. The way DW likes to tune their drums (batter head higher than the resonant head) doesn't do the drums justice. I have a DW Collectors Series Maple kit and for the toms, I tune the resonant heads a fifth higher than the batter heads. This way, I get a perfect marriage of attack and tone. That method of tuning really does the drums justice.
You must be listening on your ph speaker again! Get a decent pair of monitors or headphones and listen again! Or are you tone deaf?

Great player, bad sounding drums. They are dead sounding drums, I'm suprised because DW usually puts out quality drums. Or maybe he isn't tuning them right or something.
I would recommend taking off the bottom heads and letting those drums ring out more. They sound like they have muffles on them. He needs to open them drums up and let them breathe...
They do sound dead. However, it's the way he is tuning them. I would recommend tuning the resonant heads much higher than the batter heads. This way, you get a marriage of attack and tone that really do the drums justice.
