It may seem crazy but there are actually still a lot of people who remember when trucks were not like the massive full size trucks out there today. To a lot of us a "normal" truck doesn't have to cost house money and be that big.

Honestly i think the Maverick is what the Ranger should have been, small, capable and cheap. The new ranger feels like a reskinned F150...it isn't much smaller then a 150 either, as for styling I personally say that the Maverick is the first good looking truck Ford has made in 15 years. Its the only new vehicle I'd ever consider owning or driving
I don’t want or need a vehicle that can tow a house. I want a vehicle I can stick my bloody fishing and hunting gear into without stinking up the the the danm interior. I don’t need a 4x4 to get me to the boat or camp/ hunting grounds. My ego can handle it just fine without the bro-dozer crap as well.

Just look at the popularity of the trucks from 2006 and before, especially the s10 & ranger, as well the proliferation of japanese truck imports. They just opted to make trucks, the bread n butter of the blue collar worker, filled with features that no one wants so they can charge more & more, pricing them out of the market to serve suburban office drones.
As a Maverick owner for about 20 hours I think this trucklette will suite my needs better than my F150. The heaviest thing I put in the 150 was a paddle board and some mulch. My hybrid XLT was $24K, that price point is going to be difficult for other manufacturers to do. Big downside is that I did have to wait 16 months to get it.
Maverick hybrid owner here, love ours after 6 months. What's your spec? We went with an Area 51 XLT. The area 51 color pairs very well with the orange/light gray/blue interior of the XLT imo.

If it looks like that awesome yellow concept Toyota showed off awhile ago, I'm totally going to get one.

I ordered a 2023 Hybrid Maverick Lariat back in September because I’ve wanted a truck that gets 40+ mpg FOREVER! This is the only truck on earth that finally delivered consumers what we’ve been waiting for. When we eventually have another gas price crisis (it will happen again) these hybrid trucks will hold their value better than any other truck on the market.
I ordered mine about the same time you did (Sept 17th), I just got my VIN the other day. Build is happening end of MAY (I'm guessing I'll see at the end of June).
Coming from a Maverick owner, I absolutely adore this truck! I've had my Area 51 Lariat for almost a year now and have not had any issues with it. It's the perfect size, has all the safety features and creature comforts I could ever want, it's easy to park, gets great fuel economy despite having the bigger 2.0L Ecoboost with AWD (averaging 25-28 mpg) and looks the part. That's why the latter attribute is where I disagree with you. To me, this is a great looking truck. I can't tell you how many looks and compliments I get with it. It's not too flashy in its design and has a genuine but unique look at the same time. It does look like a proper truck, just minimized. If you want to talk ugly, the Hyundai definitely suits it. That is one of the reasons why the Maverick outsells the SC so much other than price. I don't think this is the ugliest truck Ford's ever made, not in the slightest. To me that's a bold statement.

Area 51 XLT hybrid owner here, it's an amazing machine. Wasn't a fan of Area 51 in reveal pics/photos. But as I'm sure you'll agree, it's an amazing looking color in person. I especially love it when there's a bit of overcast and it has that rich teal look to it.

I bout one of these for my son. He wanted a pickup for all of his sports gear and his dirt bike. This was a great option. He loves it. Ecoboost is averaging 24mpg.
It's based on the Escape/Bronco Sport architecture and it took everyone by surprise with how in demand it is. I read somewhere the highest areas for pre-orders were around big cities like NYC and LA. Small mild-mannered commuter that can get dirty on the weekends. I agree with you, the styling (front) is not Ford's best work 🤦♂️

Appreciate the honest & good review of the Maverick, it's not for everyone but for a lot of people that's never owned a truck & have no need for a full-size V8 engine that can tow a trailer or a boat this is perfect for them. I'm retired & have placed an order for a Maverick Lariat Tremor because it checks all the boxes for me. I'm not looking to tow anything, maybe a little light off-roading like campgrounds, dirt roads & trips to Home Depot or Lowe's. It'll do everything that I need it to do. I've owned F150's & Rangers before but have no need for them. The price of the Maverick is reasonable in my opinion. Thanks for your review!!!

I have had mine for 3 months and almost 7K on it and I am averaging 44mpg 600+ a tank all day. I also have an F150 but the Maverick is my commuter and I am very happy with it.
Been driving the hybrid version at work for like 7 months. Drove the regular engine for a week but once i got in the hybrid I never went back. Think its out standing for what it is, Plus I am 6 foot 8 and can be comfortable in it

Video made me think back to why i bought the xlt Mav 4 days ago. My Carmax CX5 had no warranty, it had 29000 miles and i wanted that new car smell. I dont even haul stuff. I can think of no other reason besides price and it was on the lot but so far no regrets. ❤

I actually like the maverick I live in Florida so I’m surrounded by f-150s but I’m not trying to pay f-150 gas prices 😂 even though the mave is unibody I’m sure I can still lift it and hook it up nice
@Deacon Guidry that is good mpg for a big truck. I don't need a full size so one of my recent videos shows the 2 new Mav XLTs I bought cost just $300 more than 1 new F-150 XLT.
The old Ford Ranger didn’t make Ford a lot of money. People would walk in looking for the cheapest truck ford sold, cutting into their f150 sales. They discontinued it, only to lose customers to other brands. They reintroduced it, but it was more like what the f150 used to be, however they were still missing customers who just wanted a small truck. Bringing their European vehicles this was was smart. New designs without having to spend as much on development, plus they filled that gap they made.
I was never really a truck guy. I had 2 67 Cougars a 93 Mustang LX 5.0, 94 Cobra Mustang and 94 Mustang. I acquired some property, sold the Mustang I had and bought a 2014 F150 V8 crew cab 4x4. I think I love that truck more then my cars. So much room in the back seat area it’s unbelievable. Smooth ride, good power and comfy!! I wouldn’t like that little back seat area in the Maverick.

I never understood why Ford stopped making the old small Rangers. I had two of them and they were great for a broke teen/young adult when I had them. I prefer a full size now but I can see why this is so popular. It’s a nice vehicle for the money. I’ve noticed a lot of old guys are buying them probably because they are easier to climb into than a full size truck
I've been wanting a pickup truck since 2010. But the F150 was too expensive and the Ranger wasn't that much less expensive. So i drove an 04' Taurus and then a 17' Focus because my income wasn't enough to get what i wanted. It's not a matter of not knowing if i wanted a pickup truck. So in 2021 when i heard of the Maverick starts at 20,000 & my 17' Focus could be traded in for $9,500. Now i finally have a pickup truck and barely was able to get all the options i wanted for $37,000 .... that's just $2,000 more than the starting price for an F150 😆.
I have a hybrid XLT and love it. I ordered July of 21 and got it August of 22. It was worth the wait! Personally I love the look of the Maverick! Ford was smart. The Maverick is back to what trucks should be. Everything most people need in a truck and nothing you don't!
@@MrBig617 I think most people want the rear seat room. I have a family and need it. I also have been moving full size couches without an issue the past few weekends. Even with a full size truck I would still need to put the tailgate down..

@@MrBig617 My wife has a minivan (Dodge Grand Caravan). Couch would not fit in it. I also fit a full kitchen table with 5 chairs in the Maverick while everyone was in the truck. Wouldn't be able to do that in the mini van. Also getting 40+mpg while the mini van has been getting around 20. The Maverick does everything I need a truck to do.

I've been waiting for 18 months to get my Ford Maverick. I have a Toyota Tacoma in the household that is good for driving around town, but gets about 22-23mpg at the most on the highway. The Maverick getting an average of 37mpg is a no brainer for someone that wants a pickup truck bed, but not the pickup truck mpg. This truck fits the market perfectly since the Ranger is about the size of a late 90s F-150 and the F-150 is just gigantic.
Mike doing a Maverick review definitely threw me off. I really love the Maverick and I’m considering it for my next vehicle. The hybrid engine and the design is very attractive to me. Would like to wait for the refresh in a year or two.
I got in on the order bank and was told that I may need to wait until December (about 6 months) for my Maverick, I told them I am totally OK with that I think it's worth the wait. It's everything that I wanted in a truck. I don't need a gigantic behemoth that gets 2 miles per gallon, I just want the utility of a truck bed and good gas mileage. I'm not going to be towing 10,000lb RVs or anything so it will be perfect. Super excited.
As a 60 year old F150 owner, I can see getting older this is a pretty neat lil truck, get in and out easily and put stuff in the bed and able to get it out easily, not there yet but 7 more years who knows,
This truck brings back the small pickup. The day of the old S10s and Ford Ranger when they were SMALL. This is a market that got neglected because trucks just got bigger and bigger. The current Ranger is the size of maybe even bigger than an older F150. I hope this market gets pursued by other automakers. We need small trucks back.
@@Christoph-sd3zisure but your atlas also costs twice as much brand new and you still have limited height to work with. There's also the people who want an open bed for carrying things that they would prefer to keep out of the interior of the vehicle. It's much easier to just hose down the bed than the interior of an SUV.
I have seen a couple Mavericks around the valley where I live. I think it is pretty decent looking. The Hyundai Santa Cruz I have also seen in person. It is a bit strange looking; less truck looking than the Maverick. The Maverick has a similar wheelbase to my 2004 Ford Ranger, but way more cabin room than my truck.
I own the hybrid,the e-cvt is a great transmission, and no, before anyone asks, e-cvts don't have any of the shortcoming of a belt driven cvt like the ones Nissan uses.
I have a F150 Powerboost and a Launch Edition Gladiator but ordered a XLT Hybrid Maverick when I want to get around 40 mpg. Ordered it 16 months ago and it’s being built as I type this comment. Hopefully it’s worth the wait!
Is it true hybrid with electric motor and regular gas engine? Cause I think more hybrids need to be done cause much better than a full ev car or truck and also better on mileage than regular gas. But yet seems the market trying skit straight from engine to ev which I don’t understand

Picked mine up yesterday, ordered 10/27/21 (16 months). Took around a month to arrive after it was built. Hope you were able to get/use Ford's private offer. A rebate of $2750 did help with the pain of waiting

Just got my maverick at the end of December of last year. It's an ecoboost xlt awd fx4 a/t tires. I love it and definitely not ugly lol. Been putting mods on it and will do do this spring and summer.

Josh, the Mav isn't quite the Hellcat in your name but the turbo AWD I show in videos on my channel is like a little race truck. After the warranty is up I will get a tune to over 300 HP. Uses a lot less gas than a Hellcat too.

I absolutely love my 2022 ford maverick XLT Fx4 in Area 51. I’ve had it since October 30, 2021 it’s been great, fits my vehicle needs. My channel has some mods I’ve done to mine.
The point most people and especially CZcams presenters miss is that if you need a TRUCK and want to do truck things, buy an F150. If you like the look and idea of a Prius shaped truck get a Maverick. Complaining that a Maverick cannot perform like an F150 is like complaining that a Prius does not perform like a Porsche.
I've always loved smaller trucks and was sad when the days of smaller trucks ended back in the late 90s early 2000s. I always loved the super small Nissan trucks, and the Chevy S10s were also highly sought after in the late 90s when I was still in Highschool. Happy to see a smaller truck on the market! It's a great looking vehicle! The wheels/rims are ugly as hell, but I'd just upgrade those to something else! I honestly don't think I like that it's front wheel drive though! I'd prefer it to be RWD or even AWD. That's the only thing about this truck that makes me feel a little hesitant about it.
The Mav has AWD with the turbo engine. I show videos from this winter in Park City climbing steep snow covered streets with just the street tires no problem.
I've had two Rangers ('91 & '95) and I was wanting another small truck. Ford killed the Ranger and also the Explorer Sport Trac, and here we are 10+ years later and Ford finally realized how stupid they were. The "new" Ranger wasn't it (more like an F-100 size, imo). When they announced the Maverick, my first thought was "This is what the Ranger should've been in the first place". I just got my VIN number, been waiting since last year and I'm excited about getting my CHEAP truck.
This looks pretty cool. It surprices me it took so long they bring it on. Back in the 90's there were some small pick up. Remember the Toyota Highlux (UK Top Gear did amazing things with🤣🤣), the Vokkswagen Taro. Chevrolet S10. In the East part of the world and Africa continent ghey are more comin.
I got a Maverick on the way from Ford. I have always driven Hatchbacks. The size isn't the reason am getting this, its the price. Mine is going to cost 28k. good luck getting a new truck for 28k anywhere else, plus the MPG keeps the cost down on my 80 mile commute.
I too had my doubts about this truck. My neighbor ordered one. After only about 10 months, it finally came in--a Lariat trim. I think it's a good niche truck for old geezers who no longer can buy a Buick. My neighbor's has 4-doors and all-wheel drive. I personally like the dedicated buttons for the heated steering wheel and seats.
I would think that many of the owners of a Maverick are not first time owners of a pick up. We are owners of previous small trucks. I myself have owned 2 S-10s and 2 Dodge Dakota's. We bought this because we don't want a full size truck. Both because we want the better fuel mileage and because we don't want to feel like we are driving a tank around the streets. I love my little Maverick. Decent size back seat for my teenage daughter and plenty of room for the baby seat for the grand kid. Also, the bed is a bit smaller, but if you put the tailgate down can carry a sheet of plywood or drywall easily. My FIL has a full size Dodge Ram and his bed is only one foot longer than mine. I can do everything he can (with better gas mileage) except tow the camper which was never my goal in the first place.
Jason, the S10, Courier, Baja, B2000, and the original Tacoma are some of the small pickups that were discontinued even though they were popular. My videos show size comparisons to the Maverick.
My father had a small Mazda truck when I was a kid...he now owns a Maverick he custom ordered.... Cactus Gray base model with the only option being a sunroof.
Friend of ours got the first one in Arizona. Had problems with the gas tank and ended up fighting with Ford and finally replaced it after keeping it for weeks
Love everything about this truck, but I do question the long term reliability with it being a Ford - I could be wrong. That’s the only reason I went with a Tacoma.
Toyota is coming out with their version. I'm waiting for that model. All I need is to haul material and not pay for towing and off road capabilities. I love how middle age guys buy the huge $60k+ trucks, install hot wheel style rims just to be pavement princess 😂
If they offered a small cab long bed option I'd buy one. Imagine how many more units they'd sell by offering this option also. Service techs, fleet vehicles, Tradesmen and Tradeswomen need room for stuff more than room for passengers. I get needing room for families if that's who buys one. But a "small" truck that gets good gas mileage and has a 6' bed would also be perfect for electricians, plumbers etc. A 4 1/2' bed is too small for lightweight bulky items and I'd end up trashing the rear seats sized for children by putting gear back there. Even putting the rear seats down and throwing construction gear on top of them would trash that rear storage space in no time. The gas mileage the Maverick gets and the msrp are much more appealing than buying a Ranger.
Would it? I would imagine that the demand for a manual transmission maverick would be so limited that it wouldn't be worth allocating factory space and equipment time. It would probably end up costing more.
I was with right up until you commented on its looks. Being a aesthetics expert for over 50 years, I’ve got say, you are so wrong! In fact, I’ll even go as far as to say that you are off by 180 degrees! By all stands, the Ford Maverick is, proportionally, about as close to “ideal” as one can get in truck world, regard;es of make or model. Of course, I am jesting and you are right, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally think this. Maverick is gorgeous. I’ve always loved small “boxy” trucks. My last being a 1989 GMC S-15. Very similar in general shape. Interesting fact. My 89 S-15 with 4.3 v6 cost me around $13k in 1989. This Maverick beats tgat truck in every way possible plus it’s fast, safer and gets almost twice the mileage and allowing for inflation both cost roughy the same! The cars of yesterday weren’t better by anyone’s standards. I love my Ford Maverick. It’s a great truck and a better idea from Ford that has all its competitors scrambling!

That's why the latter attribute is where I disagree with you. To me, this is a great looking truck. I can't tell you how many looks and compliments I get with it. It's not too flashy in its design and has a genuine but unique look at the same time. It does look like a proper truck, just minimized. If you want to talk ugly, the Hyundai definitely suits it. That is one of the reasons why the Maverick outsells the SC so much other than price. I don't think this is the ugliest truck Ford's ever made, not in the slightest. To me that's a bold statement.

Area 51 XLT hybrid owner here, it's an amazing machine. Wasn't a fan of Area 51 in reveal pics/photos. But as I'm sure you'll agree, it's an amazing looking color in person. I especially love it when there's a bit of overcast and it has that rich teal look to it.

I bout one of these for my son. He wanted a pickup for all of his sports gear and his dirt bike. This was a great option. He loves it. Ecoboost is averaging 24mpg.
Love my maverick but wish it had a manual option or at least paddle shifters. I went from my f250 to the Maverick and don't regret it at all.

It's based on the Escape/Bronco Sport architecture and it took everyone by surprise with how in demand it is. I read somewhere the highest areas for pre-orders were around big cities like NYC and LA. Small mild-mannered commuter that can get dirty on the weekends. I agree with you, the styling (front) is not Ford's best work 🤦♂️

Appreciate the honest & good review of the Maverick, it's not for everyone but for a lot of people that's never owned a truck & have no need for a full-size V8 engine that can tow a trailer or a boat this is perfect for them. I'm retired & have placed an order for a Maverick Lariat Tremor because it checks all the boxes for me. I'm not looking to tow anything, maybe a little light off-roading like campgrounds, dirt roads & trips to Home Depot or Lowe's. It'll do everything that I need it to do. I've owned F150's & Rangers before but have no need for them. The price of the Maverick is reasonable in my opinion. Thanks for your review!!!

I have had mine for 3 months and almost 7K on it and I am averaging 44mpg 600+ a tank all day. I also have an F150 but the Maverick is my commuter and I am very happy with it.
Been driving the hybrid version at work for like 7 months. Drove the regular engine for a week but once i got in the hybrid I never went back. Think its out standing for what it is, Plus I am 6 foot 8 and can be comfortable in it

@Deacon Guidry that is good mpg for a big truck. I don't need a full size so one of my recent videos shows the 2 new Mav XLTs I bought cost just $300 more than 1 new F-150 XLT.
The old Ford Ranger didn’t make Ford a lot of money. People would walk in looking for the cheapest truck ford sold, cutting into their f150 sales. They discontinued it, only to lose customers to other brands. They reintroduced it, but it was more like what the f150 used to be, however they were still missing customers who just wanted a small truck. Bringing their European vehicles this was was smart. New designs without having to spend as much on development, plus they filled that gap they made.
The platform is from overseas, but this and the Bronc Sport were designed in and for NA, the Ranger is and was designed in Australia.
I compare this to the Honda Ridgeline, and the battery system sounds like a Prius.

I was never really a truck guy. I had 2 67 Cougars a 93 Mustang LX 5.0, 94 Cobra Mustang and 94 Mustang. I acquired some property, sold the Mustang I had and bought a 2014 F150 V8 crew cab 4x4. I think I love that truck more then my cars. So much room in the back seat area it’s unbelievable. Smooth ride, good power and comfy!! I wouldn’t like that little back seat area in the Maverick.

I never understood why Ford stopped making the old small Rangers. I had two of them and they were great for a broke teen/young adult when I had them. I prefer a full size now but I can see why this is so popular. It’s a nice vehicle for the money. I’ve noticed a lot of old guys are buying them probably because they are easier to climb into than a full size truck

I've been wanting a pickup truck since 2010. But the F150 was too expensive and the Ranger wasn't that much less expensive. So i drove an 04' Taurus and then a 17' Focus because my income wasn't enough to get what i wanted. It's not a matter of not knowing if i wanted a pickup truck.
So in 2021 when i heard of the Maverick starts at 20,000 & my 17' Focus could be traded in for $9,500. Now i finally have a pickup truck and barely was able to get all the options i wanted for $37,000 .... that's just $2,000 more than the starting price for an F150 😆.
I have a hybrid XLT and love it. I ordered July of 21 and got it August of 22. It was worth the wait! Personally I love the look of the Maverick! Ford was smart. The Maverick is back to what trucks should be. Everything most people need in a truck and nothing you don't!
We don't need a full size rear seat. We need a small truck with a larger bed.

@@MrBig617 My wife has a minivan (Dodge Grand Caravan). Couch would not fit in it. I also fit a full kitchen table with 5 chairs in the Maverick while everyone was in the truck. Wouldn't be able to do that in the mini van. Also getting 40+mpg while the mini van has been getting around 20. The Maverick does everything I need a truck to do.

I've been waiting for 18 months to get my Ford Maverick. I have a Toyota Tacoma in the household that is good for driving around town, but gets about 22-23mpg at the most on the highway. The Maverick getting an average of 37mpg is a no brainer for someone that wants a pickup truck bed, but not the pickup truck mpg. This truck fits the market perfectly since the Ranger is about the size of a late 90s F-150 and the F-150 is just gigantic.
Mike doing a Maverick review definitely threw me off. I really love the Maverick and I’m considering it for my next vehicle. The hybrid engine and the design is very attractive to me. Would like to wait for the refresh in a year or two.

I got in on the order bank and was told that I may need to wait until December (about 6 months) for my Maverick, I told them I am totally OK with that I think it's worth the wait. It's everything that I wanted in a truck. I don't need a gigantic behemoth that gets 2 miles per gallon, I just want the utility of a truck bed and good gas mileage. I'm not going to be towing 10,000lb RVs or anything so it will be perfect. Super excited.
As a 60 year old F150 owner, I can see getting older this is a pretty neat lil truck, get in and out easily and put stuff in the bed and able to get it out easily, not there yet but 7 more years who knows,
This truck brings back the small pickup. The day of the old S10s and Ford Ranger when they were SMALL.
This is a market that got neglected because trucks just got bigger and bigger. The current Ranger is the size of maybe even bigger than an older F150.
I hope this market gets pursued by other automakers. We need small trucks back.

There's also the people who want an open bed for carrying things that they would prefer to keep out of the interior of the vehicle. It's much easier to just hose down the bed than the interior of an SUV.
I have seen a couple Mavericks around the valley where I live. I think it is pretty decent looking. The Hyundai Santa Cruz I have also seen in person. It is a bit strange looking; less truck looking than the Maverick. The Maverick has a similar wheelbase to my 2004 Ford Ranger, but way more cabin room than my truck.

I own the hybrid,the e-cvt is a great transmission, and no, before anyone asks, e-cvts don't have any of the shortcoming of a belt driven cvt like the ones Nissan uses.

I have a F150 Powerboost and a Launch Edition Gladiator but ordered a XLT Hybrid Maverick when I want to get around 40 mpg. Ordered it 16 months ago and it’s being built as I type this comment. Hopefully it’s worth the wait!
Is it true hybrid with electric motor and regular gas engine? Cause I think more hybrids need to be done cause much better than a full ev car or truck and also better on mileage than regular gas. But yet seems the market trying skit straight from engine to ev which I don’t understand

Just got my maverick at the end of December of last year. It's an ecoboost xlt awd fx4 a/t tires. I love it and definitely not ugly lol. Been putting mods on it and will do do this spring and summer.

Josh, the Mav isn't quite the Hellcat in your name but the turbo AWD I show in videos on my channel is like a little race truck. After the warranty is up I will get a tune to over 300 HP. Uses a lot less gas than a Hellcat too.

I absolutely love my 2022 ford maverick XLT Fx4 in Area 51. I’ve had it since October 30, 2021 it’s been great, fits my vehicle needs. My channel has some mods I’ve done to mine.
Compared to an Avalanche, it looks like a Lambo, so I don’t mind its looks. And, it has cool paint options.
The point most people and especially CZcams presenters miss is that if you need a TRUCK and want to do truck things, buy an F150. If you like the look and idea of a Prius shaped truck get a Maverick. Complaining that a Maverick cannot perform like an F150 is like complaining that a Prius does not perform like a Porsche.

I always loved the super small Nissan trucks, and the Chevy S10s were also highly sought after in the late 90s when I

I'd prefer it to be RWD or even AWD. That's the only thing about this truck that makes me feel a little hesitant about it.
The Mav has AWD with the turbo engine. I show videos from this winter in Park City climbing steep snow covered streets with just the street tires no problem.

I've had two Rangers ('91 & '95) and I was wanting another small truck. Ford killed the Ranger and also the Explorer Sport Trac, and here we are 10+ years later and Ford finally realized how stupid they were. The "new" Ranger wasn't it (more like an F-100 size, imo). When they announced the Maverick, my first thought was "This is what the Ranger should've been in the first place". I just got my VIN number, been waiting since last year and I'm excited about getting my CHEAP truck.

I own a 2017 F150 STX. Ordered 2023 Maverick XLT hybrid. My F150 won't fit in my garage. I like the look and practicality of the Maverick.
Believe it or not, the Maverick is only 4 inches longer than a Honda Accord.
This looks pretty cool. It surprices me it took so long they bring it on. Back in the 90's there were some small pick up. Remember the Toyota Highlux (UK Top Gear did amazing things with🤣🤣), the Vokkswagen Taro. Chevrolet S10. In the East part of the world and Africa continent ghey are more comin.
I got a Maverick on the way from Ford. I have always driven Hatchbacks. The size isn't the reason am getting this, its the price. Mine is going to cost 28k. good luck getting a new truck for 28k anywhere else, plus the MPG keeps the cost down on my 80 mile commute.

I too had my doubts about this truck. My neighbor ordered one. After only about 10 months, it finally came in--a Lariat trim. I think it's a good niche truck for old geezers who no longer can buy a Buick. My neighbor's has 4-doors and all-wheel drive. I personally like the dedicated buttons for the heated steering wheel and seats.
Honda Ridgeline originally was front wheel drive.
I would think that many of the owners of a Maverick are not first time owners of a pick up. We are owners of previous small trucks. I myself have owned 2 S-10s and 2 Dodge Dakota's. We bought this because we don't want a full size truck. Both because we want the better fuel mileage and because we don't want to feel like we are driving a tank around the streets. I love my little Maverick. Decent size back seat for my teenage daughter and plenty of room for the baby seat for the grand kid. Also, the bed is a bit smaller, but if you put the tailgate down can carry a sheet of plywood or drywall easily. My FIL has a full size Dodge Ram and his bed is only one foot longer than mine. I can do everything he can (with better gas mileage) except tow the camper which was never my goal in the first place.
Jason, the S10, Courier, Baja, B2000, and the original Tacoma are some of the small pickups that were discontinued even though they were popular. My videos show size comparisons to the Maverick.
My father had a small Mazda truck when I was a kid...he now owns a Maverick he custom ordered.... Cactus Gray base model with the only option being a sunroof.

Friend of ours got the first one in Arizona. Had problems with the gas tank and ended up fighting with Ford and finally replaced it after keeping it for weeks

Love everything about this truck, but I do question the long term reliability with it being a Ford - I could be wrong. That’s the only reason I went with a Tacoma.
Toyota is coming out with their version. I'm waiting for that model. All I need is to haul material and not pay for towing and off road capabilities. I love how middle age guys buy the huge $60k+ trucks, install hot wheel style rims just to be pavement princess 😂
If they offered a small cab long bed option I'd buy one. Imagine how many more units they'd sell by offering this option also. Service techs, fleet vehicles, Tradesmen and Tradeswomen need room for stuff more than room for passengers. I get needing room for families if that's who buys one. But a "small" truck that gets good gas mileage and has a 6' bed would also be perfect for electricians, plumbers etc. A 4 1/2' bed is too small for lightweight bulky items and I'd end up trashing the rear seats sized for children by putting gear back there. Even putting the rear seats down and throwing construction gear on top of them would trash that rear storage space in no time. The gas mileage the Maverick gets and the msrp are much more appealing than buying a Ranger.

I was with right up until you commented on its looks. Being a aesthetics expert for over 50 years, I’ve got say, you are so wrong! In fact, I’ll even go as far as to say that you are off by 180 degrees! By all stands, the Ford Maverick is, proportionally, about as close to “ideal” as one can get in truck world, regard;es of make or model. Of course, I am jesting and you are right, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I personally think this. Maverick is gorgeous. I’ve always loved small “boxy” trucks. My last being a 1989 GMC S-15. Very similar in general shape. Interesting fact. My 89 S-15 with 4.3 v6 cost me around $13k in 1989. This Maverick beats tgat truck in every way possible plus it’s fast, safer and gets almost twice the mileage and allowing for inflation both cost roughy the same! The cars of yesterday weren’t better by anyone’s standards. I love my Ford Maverick. It’s a great truck and a better idea from Ford that has all its competitors scrambling!
