- Since purchasing my Maverick, I have had an amazing time owning and driving it. As time wore on, and the rose-colored glasses faded, I was able to see both the good and bad things about it, and make this video. To spoil everything, I greatly enjoy the Maverick, and it perfectly suits my usage. But whether or not that applies to you is something only you can decide. I hope this video can help you get started, and best of luck.
I think you have a bright future in Car Reviews. I'm a sales rep by trade and I can tell you honesty is golden and yours flows through your presentation. Bravo!
I echo that... nicely done!
The only thing I would change is eliminating all the very fast text you put in.
Didn’t even realize this man has only 134 subs (at the time of watching) because of how nice the video was, funny but not intrusive edits with a well put together commentary.
And 10 days later he has 310 after my sub... let's get this man more!
Love the comparison to a Swiss Army Knife: Useful for a lot of things, but not always the optimum tool.
Great job and I'm not even in the market for the Maverick. Loved the presentation.
This unibody platform is basically the same as my 2013 Ford Escape with the 2.0 Ecoboost motor and AWD drivetrain. With 240 HP, it is peppy and fun to drive. Now that I have 10 years and 120.000 miles on this platform, it is still very solid. With full synthetic oil changes every 5k miles, the engine still runs strong and uses no oil between changes. Making the body into a light pickup just adds to the utility of a solid platform that I am still enjoying after 10 years.
Thanks for the input!
Does it drive like the Escape? If so then no thanks.
I just need a truck without any 🤪
We got 170k miles out of my wife's 2013 2.0 escape before we traded it in for a 2018.
Your escape has the 8 speed?
Really good review Alex. No BS, to the point, honest, good sense of humor. I was curious how these new micro trucks behave in the real world and your review was excellent insight into actually living with one.
"Go pound sand" - I love it. I wish more people took that attitude rather than bowing to those so easily offended.
Great job! I have a new Bronco and I'm not in the market for a Maverick but I watched this to the end because you did such a good job!
I've watched a lot of car reviews. This was perfect, straight to the point and genuine.
Thank you.
Happy to be here before the first thousand subscribers!
Maaaan you need to keep making videos! I your presentation is amazing and the small messages throughout the video were fun to read! You got a good thing going here!
I like to thank you for h the our review on the Maverick turbo, I was undecided about hybrid or eco boost and you just gave me the answer. Thank you, you are the man of the excellent honest review
Wow! A great and thorough review. Keep it up man! The price seems good for what you get.
Hi Alex, nice work on the Maverick video here. One of the nicest, big bang for the buck, I purchased cheap Amazon Basics sound deadening for the rear wall and doors, it worked rather well.
The design of the cup holders is my favorite part the fact that it holds any size bottle really well is awesome
Saw the link from the Facebook group. Great video! I’m about to hit 9,000 miles. I agree with everything. My only gripe is having some panels come loose already but nothing some new clips can’t fix.
Absolutely terrific review. The best on CZcams!
Someone who knows how 2 do a review video!👏 Stated the topic, stayed on the topic and had no BS banter about some other "off-topic" noise. Stated, clear and precise. Keep up the good work. Now a subscriber.
Appreciate the kind words
This is a great review and I really liked the text edits!
Your comment about “gear hunting” has me and my Taco crying 😂😭 great video!
Excellent video! I've been on the fence, but everyday i'm getting more convinced that I should get myself a Maverick.
Loved this review! Looking at getting a Maverick for myself! I live in Jamestown so it’s awesome to see you driving down local streets that I drive as well!!!
Ah cool! Feel free to say hi, I'd be happy to show you the car. Ive been bringing it to cars and coffee a lot
Awesome work, really enjoyed this. Came up outta nowhere on my CZcams front page.. it knows I've been thinking about a maverick.. but seriously glad it showed me your video. Subbed and eager for more
Appreciate the kind words. Neck deep in fixing two cars at the moment, but I would like to video them later.
Hands 🙌 down I mean up 🆙 on thee best info / opinion /review on the Ford Maverick. Thank you 🙏 so very much. 😎👍
I watch A LOT of reviews of machines. You are very good. You do it a bit differently than the others. Do more. Good job.
I much appreciate the zoomer humor style editing with the flashy pop up words. Great work!
Great review. Comprehensive and easy to listen to. Most reviews suck. Not this one. Listened to the end.
My Maverick Hybrid order is on the way from Antarctica since October last year….
Great review. Subscribed
It's a weird day to be watching truck videos and have your tiny hometown of Havelock, NC (and the sick hard core off roading course at the CP golf course) pop up in front of your face hahaha. Great video!
Great video and the graphics made it really entertaining
great review video very thorough hope more people see it
Thanks for the honest review. I ordered one in January and finally have a build date of late October. But, I'm relying on reviews as I have still never driven one!
Got my Maverick in Oct 2021 and since then I’ve put 17k miles on mine. Only complaint is that the Apple CarPlay is a little glitchy at times. But overall, love the Maverick
excellent video never seen any content from you before and you already earned a like and sub!
Great review. You packed a lot in the 10 mins. I considered ordering one but mostly for the wife and she was like not too excited about it. I think the '23 with the black appearance package is quite handsome.
great video ! like the honesty
Great review. If I get the urge to let go of my current ride I may be looking at the Maverick. I used to own an '05 F-150 but wasn't hauling that much with it and it took up a large footprint in the driveway. The Maverick would be more practical in my case for the occasional appliance purchase or hauling stuff to the county dump.
Great Video!!!! THank you for sharing.
Finally a good and honest reviews about that little truck ! Great work with the conversion and being funny 🤗
Love it !!
It’s the first year of the making it so it’s gonna have problems. Ford is pretty reliable, but only after about 2 years of making a model.
Really enjoyed your review! I should have my Maverick by Thanksgiving! I think I met you at Cars and Coffee a few months ago.
Man, you certainly know how to make a great video!
Very good review. I have the same truck in black with all options available except moonroof. I’m very happy with it and just turned 10k as well. I don’t have the dash board rattles fortunately but agree that it’s an awesome vehicle. I truly enjoy driving it everyday and don’t regret the purchase one bit. Looking forward to seeing how it does this winter.
Amazing review!
That's a good review. Been looking to get one for my wife. Thanks.
This is a brilliant review.
Great review, helped a lot.
Great video. Love the truck ❤️ color
The quippy little white captions are a really nice addition on top of the review lol
i must admit your review was GREAT. I have 23 on order.
Great video man! I just got mine after a 9 month wait. Love it :)
I've been waiting 10 months....
@@rickhibdon11 :( sorry my dude
Great video 👍
Great review, patiently waiting for mine to arrive next month.
Hey this is a great review thanks
You definitely should make more car review you are gifted. Thank you kindly.
One of the best reviews I've seen on the Maverick and I've seen a lot. Coming from the someday mine will be built desk
ordered mine last december, still waiting :/ good video!
Great video, just the right amount of sarcasm.
Nice comparison to the Swiss Army knife. McGiver flashbacks started coming to mind. This is the vehicle he would own I’m sure. I like your review, now don’t stop there. Try out the hybrid version and do another review. I would like to hear your feedback. The hybrid is another blade in the McGiver knife….
That was a good review. I own a Maverick Lariat 2.0 Eco 2WD and I am getting 25 mpg in town driving. I love the truck. Have not been on a road trip long enough to get an idea about hwy mpg but I would hope to get 30 driving between 70 and 75. My only complaint is the rattles from the front doors and dash. I plan to have the service dept attempt to fix those rattles when I go in for service.
This is a really well-put together video. you deserve more subscribers
Thank you for your kindness. I just wanted to make the video for its own sake. I'm glad to see people find it helpful.
@@alex_thecarguy I agree this can be helpful for people looking into buying a ford maverick
Great video!
Dude, totally awesome video. Better then most lifetime movies. I wonder what song was playing during the time of the metal core reference??
Excellent review, lots of repetition on this vehicle in similar reviews. Honest real world review, well done.
Great review! Should get my 2023 hybrid Lariat in the next week or so. Can't wait! I am stealing your "Swiss Army Knife" comparison for when anyone asks why I wouldn't just buy a "real" truck. :)
Thank you, good information
Great video
Ford finally gave me a build date on mine. I’m sure I will enjoy it as much as you enjoy yours.
Great “real world” review. Reviews after time and use with a vehicle are more important to me than the “look what I just brought home!” review.
I think a Maverick is my next vehicle. I keep bouncing between it and a used Ridgeline (we currently have 05 and 18 Pilots). I like the increased hauling capacity of the pilot, and well, it’s a Honda. I like the better fuel economy of the Maverick. Looks like it’ll get about 5 miles per gallon more than the Honda. Ultimately, it may depend on pricing when I purchase one in the spring.
I think either of them would be an excellent complement to my Silverado 3500 HD. Good fuel economy with light duty capacity for a daily driver, and the old workhorse when I really need to move something.
If you can find one in the spring lol. Got told by ford that production for a 23 hybrid is a year MIN
@@jfk899 Really? I plan on ordering one 😩
new ridgeline looks much better now. a potential competitor maybe, hmmmm...?
Good video. Thanks. Subscribed
Booyah, 👊😁👍🇺🇲
Still waiting on my hybrid
Cool to see someone from East NC on CZcams! I'd recognize that Havelock visitor center anywhere lol
I make the drive down there every now and then for a range day with my friend. I like that area.
Good choice in music. Been listening to Motionless in White again myself here lately.
The new album definitely comes through my headphones quite a bit
Good review -- I ordered the same colour so you an I can be besties 🤣
I ordered the Lariat just to get the powered rear window 😁
Cheers
Amazing car review.
Thanks for that info.
Nice review
Nice video!
Good video, bro.
Thanks, bro
I currently have a 2014 Fusion with the 2.0 and AWD, it works great and the AWD kicks in without hesitation making it difficult to lose traction in any situation. Unfortunately, the 6 spd auto in my Fusion is definitely subpar. There is always a kick or hesitation from 2nd to 3rd and shift time is rather long in general, and it doesn't like to downshift unless really leaning into gas pedal. The Maverick has been my goal since it launched and now I'm only more convinced I want one! Great review.
Yes, this is where I'm at. Have a 2007 Fusion that has seen better days, and when the maverick launched I knew it was the replacement. Now they need to show up on the lot. Or release the order books. Something.
@@mrbillybob444 I see them around but to often. It seems like as soon as one appears on a dealer lot it's sold within a day or two. I think in a year they'll be more readily available once Ford can catch up with their supply chain challenges.
Lmao what up Alex, this showed up in my feed! Good vid
Ben just told me you mentioned it. Crazy stuff, hope you're well.
Great review, you have an excellent vocal intonation and cadence. If you upped your video quality, this channel might really take off!
I'm with you I call em trucks (same for Hyundai's truck) I recently delivered a maverick to a customer (a lariat) and while it didn't drive like a ranger it definitely didn't feel like a crossover. I was throughly impressed with it after driving it 30 miles through city, highway and country roads. Also I'm 6'1 and had room.
the maverick is what the ranger should have evolved into over the years. i have a 94 ranger and for me the maverick makes the most sense as a new vehicle upgrade if i were to get a truck. i dont need all the bed space but i like having it.
I've had the basic Maverick for 10000 miles and you've pretty much hit the nail on the head. I've used it for a little bit of everything. You are 💯 about rolling down the windows. The other minor irritation I would add is that the driving options, eco mode, sport mode, ect are not saved. So every time you shut down the truck, you have to reset your mode. Overall it seems to be a great buy though.
At this point I'm 16500 miles in and I have some new things to say which I'm planning to do at 20k. But yeah I agree, I'm happy with it overall. Still the best daily I've owned.
I have seen a few maverick videos and regarding the radio, one owner said he had to download the update and that fixed the problem.
A 4:3 1080p 60fps video in 2022!? Color me surprised! Great review with good humor. I also appreciate how great your audio quality is seeing the size of your channel. Keep it up!
Great review! I would consider this vehicle if they offered all wheel drive in the hybrid and still low cost. Would love to drive to a remote hunting or fishing site and get 35 plus mpgs. Also wish it was made in the Midwest like Ford originally promised.
If it was made in the midwest they could not have hit that 20,000 price point unless you wanna work for 4.00 an hour like the workers do in mexico which in mexico is a middle class income
I loved the Aussie on the video , he is so pretty.
Man Ford needs to pay you for this awesome Review I going to buy one but right now is hard to find
Lmao dude I love that shot with the Swiss Army knife to the key… cleeeaaaannnn
Btw I will love you forever now. As I’m watching your video depressed I haven’t got my july 6 2021 order, I checked my tracking and I am finally FINALLY in production
@@CodofWar08 Aye congratulations. And yeah I did that clip like 10 times before I was happy with it, lol
Do you ever wish you got the hybrid for the fuel economy? Been debating between the two engines. I want a Maverick but they are marked up to $35k+ in my area so I'd have to order one and wait a while if i want one at MSRP lol
Not really honestly. I needed something to tow with and I've done a good deal of towing since, including bringing a 2800lb focus 3 hours back home through mountains. I also like having the AWD. As for fuel economy, I drove 70 miles all highway yesterday to drop off a cylinder head and made 30 mpg so I'm not upset with that.
If you want one at MSRP, place an order, and pick the options you want. That's what I did.
Got the hybrid and love it. It’s not a tow vehicle, but I didn’t buy it to tow. Running about town you can get 40+ mpg, and 70 on the highway will be 34-36 mpg.
Will consider ordering one when it finally comes out as a full bev. I currently have a Lightning Pro that’s wonderful but it is big. The non-hybrid Maverick mpg is very unremarkable
It's the near exact same I get out of my focus st no surprise makes sense same motor
This guy should open a new account for professional car review. He illustrated all I wanted to know, nice job buddy.
This was exactly the truck I wanted and ordered, but never received. I'm now in a Santa Cruz Limited and I don't regret it. The Maverick is a great little truck, but feature for feature, I think the Santa Cruz is the more compelling option for someone with less truck necessity.
I ordered one in January too. Still on order. I now have a Santa Cruz SEL Premium and love it. So happy that Ford shafted me.
I enjoyed your editorial content. Witty at times.
The independent suspension helps ride and handling a lot. Yours is built like my Jeep Cherokee Trailhawk
As a handyman who freelances as a maintenance man for a few different facilities, this may well be my next truck. I've carved out a nice niche where I'm really not doing big projects for people. I do a bunch of small-middling jobs throughout the week, instead. All I need room for is my tools and some small materials. I really think this would do the trick. Given the added bonus of up to 41 mpg with the hybrid version, it's very tempting.
The box is short for putting 8’ long pieces in, but they have a workaround for that. Hybrid is great for tooling around the city - a gas sipper.
3:00 at 6'1 I find the rear view mirror could be a little higher up, as it blocks some forward visibility out the from windshield, such as taking a large highway right curve, while sitting on the left, some roads, the mirror block a large portion of on-coming traffic. and I cant lower the seat any lower, which would help some.
The intro got me 😂
Good review! With a 6 speed manual this truck would be very fun.
And thieft proof....
good looking machine
