I used to work for a guy like that. Their criminality sneaks up on you. One time I told him, "You choose prison as a life style choice? Look, don't involve me in your hare-brained schemes." And he never did again.

This type of insurance fraud is very common. My car was hit from behind while in a parking lot. So not traveling fast at all. The person who hit my car claimed all sorts of bodily injury, not a scratch on their truck. They claimed $100,000. My insurance company researched their history and there was a string of claims like this over the last few years. They settled for $6000. These people are predators.
I thought crashes in parking lots were no-fault., each person covers their own car.

What a case, and what a disgusting criminal- one who brought his own children, and other perhaps vulnerable people into his self-serving scams.

I feel badly for the daughter. I come from a similar family and I did not want a part of what they did. My mother even stole from a friend who was dying of cancer so she could take a trip to Europe (she was very envious of that friend's "charisma"). She brought me to the woman's funeral, which the family had to borrow money to pay for because someone had embezzled their money. I was 5, it was my first funeral, and I know why my mother brought me that day (a relative died that same year but I was too young to attend that funeral). When you come from a family like this, they target you for being "different" and they think that you see yourself as "better". Their whole worldview is about better vs worse, weak vs strong, and they suspect everyone of thinking the way they do and having their motivations. My family hid theirs well behind talk about integrity and family and honor (and we have a good pedigree, we're descended from Puritans) and only when I was a young adult and targeted by them with a smear campaign did I see their deceit. I still don't know what they were worried that I would expose, I had no knowledge of anything and especially had no desire to be a part of what they did. It is awful to be born into these "families" and yet these families think they are superior and have given their children a gift by having them unless they aren't natural schemers too, then they try to ruin them.

Oh you are so right ! What a scumbag this guy is to involve children in his felonious venture. Never would a legit dealer even consider involing their kid . I argue the point of dealing is so you get your kids into a position in life for them to not have to sink to such levels.
Can you do an episode about cops that get caught lying. This includes prosecutors district attorneys public officials judges and other people held in the public trust. The Cincinnati judge might be a good place to start. She had to be carried out of the courtroom after her conviction.

Bill must have done a good job switching things up, because liability insurers have access to more than one national database of insurance claimants with info on the type of claim, date, damages, persons involved, etc. Most large insurance companies have their own fraud divisions to investigate and deny questionable claims and offer support in the prosecution of criminal fraud cases.

I have lived in Washington most of my life. My mother had a theory that criminals and crazies that were running from the law looked at maps and figured Washington was the furthest spot from the rest of the country and had lots of forests to hide in.

@@cherylmillard2067 The Sky King pilot! I remember him! I live near the point on the west side of the Nisqually River mouth and was outside when he stole the plane. I was trying to see the jet as he was doing his maneuvers over the Sound but never got a clear view.
I have driven by the Pancake House numerous times when I was staying in Wenatchee but never stopped there. For almost 20 years I would spend a few days there at conferences every summer. Always enjoyed every visit there. It is a very nice small city.
A video about that lawyer Tom Girardi would be interesting. He allegedly stole money from his clients. His wife.. a Real Housewives cast member who was over the top with her spending... may or may not have known the money was stolen. Her $750,000 (now 1.3 million) dollar earring controversy. All very interesting. Especially when you add in the divorce that might be just a way to hide money, or the debate about whether or not he actually has cognitive deficiencies.

I think bill was correct about the victimless crime aspect, aside from the permanent injuries and those that were not paid. If you want to think an insurance company would try their best to keep costs down while helping their customers as much as possible, that's purposeful cognitive dissonance. The truth is they will squeeze everything they can out of people, The deductible is a perfect example of their attempt to keep more of their customer's money and more can be pointed to as proof of their greed, such as the lack of coverage due to "acts of god" or whatnot, plus the fact that they battle payouts with lawyers who charge more than the payout request. He is, in essence, acting as the insurance company for their wallet; he ensures the customer gets what they pay for.

The sheer amount of research, data and preparation that Dr. Grande gathers for these videos is beyond impressive. Watching them, with the narrative style he uses, amazes me every time. This was an excellently well put together video. I was just thinking, this guy is actually still out there, and if he were to be super super brilliant, he could watch this explanation of himself and adapt himself to bypass being caught. Imagine a movie about something like this. Where this evil manipulator was about to take over the world, and humanities most brilliant minds were tasked with trying to thwart this super evil manipulator and they sent in a secret agent who can figure a way out to thwart the bad guy. It could be an awesome movie. Like a cerebral James Bond up against someone like an insane Jeff Bezos type of villain.
