  • This video summarizes a two-day workshop in June 2022 on building a hydrostatic masonry bridge model. The bridge design is based on Emil Adiels and Chris Williams' work on utilising the earth fill in a bridge in the form finding. You can read more about the concept and background in the paper 'The construction of new masonry bridges inspired by Paul Séjourné' by Emil Adiels and Chris Williams.

The workshop is part of the course 'Virtual Tools in a Material Culture' at Chalmers University of Technology. The course aims to train students to use computational design tools, such as Grasshopper3d, in the architectural design process. The participants were students in the Architecture and Engineering program.
Workshop organisers: Emil Adiels, Erik Wigh, & Chris J K Williams
Thanks to the Digital Twin Cities Centre at Chalmers, who supported the workshop.
I would also like to thank Mats Ander, Peter Lindblom, Klas Modin, Tabita Nilsson, and Karl-Gunnar Olsson at Chalmers University.
The video was recorded and edited by Emil Adiels in 2022.
