Do your homework son. That man in yellow is Mr. Cab Callaway. Look him up. He’s one of the major figures of the Harlem Renaissance. Janet was paying homage to him. He paved the way for many black performers. Thank me later. 😜

The woman dancing with Janet at salon was the great dancer Cyd Charisse and the 2 black older men jumping and dancing with Janet was The Famous Williams Brothers. If you had looked at the opening, their names were on the beginning characters =actors. History young man

This music video was Janet's way of paying homage to performers that inspired her growing up. She watched a lot of 1940s musicals as a kid. The people in the video are Cyd Charisse, The Nicholas Brothers and Cab Calloway. All dancing legends.

In Brooklyn NY there are houses called Brownstones, and Everybody Hates Chris was based in Bedford- Stuyvesant Brooklyn. So, you are correct!

Michael took inspiration from Fred Astare for Smooth Criminal
Janet took her inspirations to create this video
5:07 she enlisted her biggest inspirations for this video thats Cyd Charisse, Cab Calloway and Nicholas Brothers who all were in this video

Dude, this vid is inspired by what street life might have been like in the 1930's - 40's in New York City. The concept was based on the old movies of that era. At the time when Cab Calloway, one of our black musical pioneers, was big. The lady was Cyd Charisse, a famous actress and dancer from those times. the two brothers that was tap dancing was the World-Famous Nicholas Brothers. all major stars during this time. And given that this video was released in 1990, when all of these stars had to be well into their 80's - 90's and still able to perform; deserves nothing but RESPECT. Check out "Jumpin Jive" by Cab Calloway that also features the Nicholas Brothers, for just a taste.

Glad you're checking out our Queen and legend in her own right. Alright is a whole musical. It's awesome. Cyd Charrise and Cab Calloway were legends. Janet's influence is still relevant. This was 89, Bro. I know people like to compare her to Mike, but Janet stands in her own creativity and originality. The Jacksons literally gave us two of the greatest entertainers of all time.🙌🏾💯🔥🔥🔥

I can certainly appreciate your “Janet Journey”, exploring her amazing legacy and influence on popular music. Just a small note to help you understand this video a lil bit, it’s a tribute to an era of pioneers in entertainment from the “Golden Age of Hollywood”, among them being Cab Calloway, Cyd Charisse and the amazing Nicolas Brothers. Lastly, you are correct in recognizing the street, it’s a set on the Warner movie lot I believe🤣
Influence is histories most greatest treasure, the gift that keeps on giving✊🏿🙏🏾

70s, 60s look...LOL!🤣 That's more like a 1930s, 1940s look my friend.. lol! This is like a Tribute to those times and stars of the era. The lady in red was famous movie actress and dancer named "Cyd Charisse". The famous Nicholas Brothers were also in the video. If you would like to see some groundbreaking dancing check out a clip of them from the movie "Stormy Weather" with Cab Calloway (and many other black stars from that time period) in it. It's well worth reviewing. The man in yellow at the end was Cab Calloway, he was a Big bandleader, singer, actor and historic black trail blazer.

The female is Cyd Charisse, she was an actor and dancer as well, all of these performers and dancers are legendary and she incorporated them into this masterpiece..this video is epic and you see nothing like this in videos of today. Everything is about sex with no creativity or originality. ... Janet and Mike are the true pioneers of creative videos with style and creativity...
