  • My easy guide to adjusting the Classic 350 Reborn valve setting - • Royal Enfield Classic ...
My Speedometer on my Classic 350 Re-Born was actually faulty from the very first ride. Like many before I tried numeruos key re-sets but to no avail.
In the end I resorted to my very own efforts and as of now I can honestly say my idea has worked and worked extremely well
Its been absolutely trouble free for the past 3,000 klm or roughly 5 months of continuous use. Check out my clips-I can guarantee that this Enfield Classic really knows its was along dirt roads and off the beaten track.

mine actually worked fine for 5 months then returned. heres what you do take a photo of the speedo jammed and send it too the dealer. he will contact royal enfield for an approval new speedo. do the clean out and hopefully it helps and when new speedo arrives ask can they post it out.
if not add youll return old speedo first in good faith and fit the new yourself.

Faulty speedo adds to the authenticity. For those of us old enough to remember Smiths guages, you could have been riding at anywhere between a mph or a ton.
Have to say, my interceptor has had only one fault, it got stuck in the locked position. Other than that I am very, very impressed with RE. As a fiercely proud Triumph owner for years, I was expecting a bit less of RE. As it turns out, it's better in some ways.
As an older rider, that Halcyon Grey 350 looks the bollocks for the Mrs and I for our next bike.

Thanks Warro, good to see you sleuthing on this problem !
I'm slightly skeptical as to whether this is a permanent fix because my speedo fixes itself once it has been cooled down in the garage for a while and only plays up when I switch the bike off and on again when it has been out in the direkt sunlight for a couple of hours. So it seems to be heat related to me but maybe the conductive properties of that grease do change as it gets warm and starts to soften. I will certainly do this to my bike, it's definitely worth a try !
Although RE have already agreed to replace my speedo, unfortunately ( and unsurprisingly ! ) none are currently available and I am facing a long wait, so this could save me a lot of hassle.
Thanks for posting this and I hope it turns out to be a permanent fix for you and all of us who are suffering from the same issue.

i have the new reserve speedo in stock should i require it but so far so good with the pin terminal clean up. ive been on quite a few long rides since this took place and so far no issues to date.
best thing about this trick it it really only takes 5 minutes to do the actual clean up and virtually cost zero. the main thing it's worked for me or one i'd put in the new clock immediately.or 2 i'd said in the clip -don't try this!
mine was a real shocker from the very start and i had lots of issues with the wild speedo lspin and lock and the hastle of re-keying to zero
to sum up all i can really say is -
1.in the first 1700 klm it happened to me a good 20 friggin times...lol
2 in the next 2800 kl or since the clean up of the terminals..NOT ONCE!

Michael Carlson. You say your dealership doesn't communicate hardly anything to you about your situation, questions, concerns, or where the f your functioning speedo is? Yeah, I agree. The United States dealerships are complete blooming fools. Maybe all motorcycle are this way? Completely neglecting their customers that they say that they care for. Royal Enfield north American headquarters are the same way. They never return any type of communication. When they do respond its usually with something causing even more delay. My latest request about my speedometer issue was responded with, "the team that will address your concern is in India this week for training. " Seems like a load of shit to me.
I love my classic 350. Looks amazing, rides smooth as butter, sounds like a sewing machine. The product sold itself to me. However distribution, service, and parts availability in the United States....complete FAIL. I am so happy that I was able to find out for myself that I never want to purchase another royal enfield product. And it only cost me $5500 American dollars to see the flaws involved with this company. I hope I can trade for something else and get at least $1000 worth of credit. Is the VIN of the Halcyon Grey less than ME3DJELT5NV012775. I think so, then you have a speedometer with ABS plastic inside and not with PVC.
Only the VINs up to ME3DJELT5NV012775 are affected, i.e. that to model 2022 (recognizable on the N). All later models (P for 2023) already have the speedometer made from PVC instead of ABS (this deforms under heat effect).

After my classic 350 reborn, had cooled down overnight and a few on and off cycles with the key.
I have been able to get the speedo needle to return to zero.
So, I went out and bought some electro cleaner and just now tried to see if your fix would work, but I have hit a "roadblock"
I just don't seem to be able, to get the wiring harness to disconnect from the underside of the speedo. Is the little red plastic tag meant to be pulled all the way out, in a downwards direction or is it meant to fully pushed in and upwards?
I've tried both ways and pressed, squeezed and pulled with all my might. So much so that the front forks where compressing. I even tried very cautiously getting some multi-Grips onto the wiring harness block. I really don't want to overdo it and causes damage to the wiring system.
Wirring harness at this point remains stubbornly fixed to the Speedo housing.
Iv'e also had a look at the video "Economical Rides" did using your ideas. Seems that I'm doing it correctly with the red tab, but the connector "block" won't budge :-( The red tab on mine seems to have two different possible positions. @@ridewithwarro Hi Warro,
well these days you are the Classic 350 guru, no doubt. This is the second time you've helped me out. The first time you helped me with how to get the shift lever off the spline to move it up a notch and now this !
I did actually use an electrical contact cleaner first and before reconnecting I gave both sides a quick blast of WD40 to keep the moisture out and prevent future corrosion of the contacts.
As you mention, the really fascinating thing about this in my case was that the speedo was stuck malfunctioning at the time ! By doing this it reset itself correctly. It was a bit weird though. On the first attempt the needle dropped from 20 kph to 0 kph ( without sweeping up to 160 kph first, like it normally does ), then it groaned for a bit and the needle trembled about at 0 kph.
For a brief moment there I did think that I had broken something 😂
When I then switched it off and on again, it did the normal sweep from 0-160 kph and settled back to zero. So that first attempt was definitely odd, as if the speedo was confused or something. So we definitely did something to the little sod, even if we don't know exactly what ! It will be really interesting to see how long this current fix lasts, that's for sure. Imagine if all of the speedos RE have replaced were actually NOT defective, merely having a dirty connection ! In that case they will have wasted a lot of money. I've heard of people on their third or fourth new speedo, so it might well be the connector rather than the speedos themselves ! 😱
Anyway, I do give you plenty of credit in the video and we even raise a glass of the old amber nectar in your honour 😜 The video is out on Tuesday if you'd like to see what I did.
Anyway mate, I really appreciate your videos and your willingness to get stuck into your bikes. You do it so I don't have to ! 🤗

i actually use to tell the dealers what issues the new models/years had and a few months later the fix came in on the bikes......lol

Hi Warro. Do you take your travelling tool box and sprays with you. Either you’re a good reason to buy a RE Warro or you’re a good reason not to buy one, lol. Not a video goes by when a RE channel goes buy where they keep having to do all this. What does the warranty cover my ole matey. Just a bit of humour and ribbing you Warro.

    • @ridewithwarro
      @ridewithwarro  Před rokem +2

all good there. well first off i dont care about the warranty that much as i'd have to do a 500 klm round trip and i'm not that desperate to travel ...lol and if i did have issues -i'd just sell it off cheap and buy another one...lol
i still say the new 350 is the best enfield single to date.
now the only issue i've had with both bikes is the speedo on the halcyon which i think ive now sorted out.
sure i buy other bikes but i still keep coming back to these. they are such a fun bike to own and ride plus they make you feel good too.
as you grow older not much i think really makes you happy -just buy and ride them -sell and buy again. but an enfield will and this new 350 is my favourite bike.
10 years back i came from a car background and in those days you couldn't give me a bike as i'd classed them as a total waste of money...not even for free...lol times sure have changed except for the fact i won't ride a bike in the wet...lol
      all the best!

ok then ...here's the plan. over the next 5 years i want you to save up all your money and buy the bike in question then do the full testing yourself.
i cant help you there because by the time you buy that first bike i'd probably bought another 20 new bikes
your mission...should you decide to accept it is to infiltrate the royal enfield classic 350 reborn series of bikes. to save issues or this clip falling into the wrong hands it will self destuct in 15 seconds.good luck kyle

Great sleuthing! Wondering though...if you puts in a new speedo, you get "0" miles/Kms again, yes?
That's one way to keep the value of the bike up!

looking on the web at enfields you can buy most stuff from ebay. listed units available now are interceptor 650/meteor 350/ himalayan/ classic 350 reborn etc- all instrumentaion sets available from aud$250 to aud$400
so it would not be hard to grab a new instrumention set for any of the royal enfield range of bikes.
