    Some places used revenue stamps for postage as well. They are marvelous

    I love worldwide revenue stamps. I’ve acquired a set of Barefoot catalogues to keep track of what I have vs. what I need. But the British Commonwealth revenues are the most interesting.

    1. William Henry Webb - Webb was an American businessman and stamp collector who is credited with amassing the world’s most valuable private collection of stamps, which he bequeathed to the British Museum in 1891.
    2. George V of the United Kingdom - King George V was a passionate stamp collector and helped to make philately popular in Britain during his reign. His vast collection was donated to the British Museum after his death in 1936.
    3. John du Pont - Du Pont was an American heir and convict who amassed a large and valuable stamp collection during his time in prison. He later donated his collection to the Smithsonian Institution.
    4. Arthur Hind - Hind was an American businessman and self-made millionaire who became one of the world’s most famous and successful stamp collectors. His collection was eventually sold for a then-record sum of $2.5 million in 1922.
    5. Frederick Smallfield - Smallfield was a British barrister and politician who amassed an impressive stamp collection that he bequeathed to the British Museum upon his death in 1911.
    6. Sir Rowland Hill - Hill was a British postal reformer and the inventor of the modern postage stamp. He also collected stamps, amassing a significant collection which included many rare items.
    7. Edward Loines Pemberton - Pemberton was an English banker and Stamp Collector who is best known for his role in founding the Royal Phil

    1:Henry L. Brandon
    Henry L. Brandon was one of the most famous stamp collectors of all time. He was born in 1841 and began collecting stamps at the age of eight. He went on to become a successful businessman and politician, and was elected to the United States House of Representatives in 1879.
    Brandon’s stamp collection was one of the largest and most valuable in the world. It included many rare and valuable stamps, including some of the first stamps ever issued. Brandon donated his collection to the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., where it is on display today.
    2:William T. Brann
    William T. Brann was one of the most famous stamp collectors of all time. He eventually amassed a collection of over 200,000 stamps, which he bequeathed to the British Museum upon his death in 1923.
    3:John E. du Pont
    John E. du Pont was one of the most famous stamp collectors of all time. John E. du Pont was born in 1940 into a wealthy family, and he began collecting stamps at a young age. His collection grew to be one of the largest and most valuable in the world, and he was known for his passion for the hobby. Du Pont died in 2010, but his legacy as a stamp collector lives on.

    5:Leonard A. Pangborn
    Leonard A. Pangborn is considered one of the most famous stamp collectors of all time. He was born in 1894 and began collecting stamps at the age of 10. He went on to become a successful businessman and eventually became the president of the American Stamp Dealers Association.     George C. Seman III is one of the most famous stamp collectors of all time. He has been collecting stamps for over 50 years and has an extensive collection. George has won many awards for his stamp collection and is well respected in the stamp community. He is a member of the American Philatelic Society and the Royal Philatelic Society. George is also a collector of first day covers and postal history.
    7:Louis A. Carrick
    Louis A. Carrick is one of the most famous stamp collectors of all time. Louis A. Carrick (1868-1948) was an American businessman and stamp collector. He was born in New York City and began collecting stamps as a child. His collection grew to be one of the largest and most valuable in the world, and he became known as one of the foremost experts on philately. Carrick wrote several books on stamp collecting, including a history of the United States Postal Service, and was a member of many philatelic societies. He also served as the president of the American Philatelic Society from 1923 to 1925.

    Lawrence Hines Louis is one of the most famous stamp collectors of all time. Lawrence Hines was an avid stamp collector from a young age. He began collecting stamps from the age of eight and went on to amass one of the world’s most impressive and valuable collections.

    In the narrow definition, philately is "the collection and study of postage stamps." Collecting revenues can thus quite rightly be placed outside philately proper. Shouldn't stop you from collecting them, however.
