    Though I am a long standing collector of GB stamps, both Queens and George VI. I found this video extremely interesting. I wish I had access to such a tool when I started all those years ago. Simply explained with little or no technical jargon. This is my first Ourdadsstamps video I shall look out for the next instalment and any previous ones. Excellent sir!

    This will help me since I have glassines and many pages of reds, blues different issues and the later issues up to and including the green shillings. Bought from estate auction many years ago

    Very good presentation. I wonder if you could present one one Wing Margins? I noticed that you had some in this presenttion and also some re-perfed and straight cut side margins. I know some dealers used to re-perf the wing margins so that the stamps would fit into the albums back in the day. I'm also aware that stamps altered in this way have a big impact on their value, espicallly the mint stamps of this era.
    Kind regards,
    Barry

      Let me know what you think. I've never used Scott's so it will be interesting to see how they compare.

    • @johnscamardo2145

      Use the US Scott specialized and have been getting mixed feelings about some things . They have listings but little information on how to distinguish between some issues. Shades and printings are not addressed in such way to tell the differences and in most case left out. In other cases unless it has been given another issue # for reprinting and still little or no information on how to distinguish between them. The older albums were more comprehensive and they now condense most of the older issues in later albums some of makes which little sense .Of course the listing for GB in the volume it is in has only basic listings and little or no information. They just started acknowledging there was tagging in certain issues for US and issuing replacement pages for stamps that are 70+ years old. Harris is mostly oriented towards beginning collectors or young people. So that being said only way to find out pertinent information is to ask others and other look towards APS library for books on specific sets, issues etc.

    Was the 2 penny blue not showing plate number for imperforate editions?

      And if so how do I identify white lines plate 3 vs. 4?

    • @ourdadsstamps
      @ourdadsstamps  Před 9 měsíci +1

      Hi, thanks for your comments. Plate 3 v 4 is quite difficult, in much the same way as plating imperf penny reds, you have to compare your stamp with the imprimateur copy looking at the position of the check letters and other characteristics. Good luck.

    This only applies to stamps with letters in all four corners. Stamps with stars in top corners do not have plate numbers incorporated in the design

    How did the other positions get etched? Did the artist do them all or were they copied by someone else?

    • @ourdadsstamps
      @ourdadsstamps  Před 5 měsíci

      The plate numbers and letters were inserted by the printers.

    Hola , sabria usted decirme porque en algunos de estos sellos no se les ve el numero ? Gracias

    • @ourdadsstamps
      @ourdadsstamps  Před rokem +1

      Los sellos impresos antes de 1864 no tenían el número de placa inscrito, por lo que es posible que tenga uno de esos. Es fácil saberlo ya que solo tienen letras en las dos esquinas a bajo. Los sellos con números de placa tienen letras en las cuatro esquinas.
