there are an overwhelming amount of complaints and videos where women whether relaxed or natural go into these salons with lonnnggg hair with the intent of a trim and come out with a haircut!!! too common....

I am starting my hair journey for 2017, for me and my 2 daughters. My youngest daughter is waist length but my oldest daughter hair is not growing at all. So I'm changing her regimen completely by washing it every week, and moisturizing 3x's a week. wish us luck!!! We can do it!!!!!!

Girl that's why i don't trust hairstylist for trims. I remember when my sister went to get a trim, she entered the salon with almost hip length hair and came out with a haircut a that was between shoulder length and bras trap length. Never again did we go to a hair salon to get out hair cut.
The funny thing is that I was gonna get a trim too and after seeing that I was just like NOPE.
That was so mean of that stylist!!..geez

I will join the challenge with you. I haven't had a setback yet. I did have a bump on the road when I cut a tiny section of my hair while taking down crochet Bob but I am doing well in my natural hair journey. I know it will grow back (in Jesus's name) to healthy length

I am 100% ready ... 2017 is gonna make me 3 years natural .. I got my hair straightened about 2 weeks ago and it was about an inch away from being bra strap length and then since I've never cut my hair since I was natural my stylist gave me a trim (like you said it was a bit shorter than how much you would've expected) but hey it'll grow back ! My natural hair journey started in 2014( a year after I graduated high school). I straightened my hair all through high school and it was so damaged that I finally decided to stop straightening my hair all together. I started doing castor oil and coconut oil hair masks, babying my heat-damaged ends (I did everything I could do to avoid the big chop). It took almost a year, but after babying my heat-damaged hair so much, I actually kind of repaired it. It felt more moisturized and looked shinier, I got it to naturally curl again, without heat or products, and the split ends were less noticeable (but unfortunately still there). My hair finally grew down to my waist, but I decided to get it cut last November.
Lovely hair very beautiful. You can't trust beauticians if you go to have your hair trimmed you must make sure to sit in front of the mirror and watch every cut. Once they know your paying attention they can't get scissor happy because you see everything their doing

I will be joining I actually started the day after thanksgiving last year ... I started because I got my hair done and the lady burnt my scalp and with that my edges were gone and I had a big bald spot in the front of my hair .. so far I've been going good
I will for sure join in starting my natural hair journey NOW!!!!!
Am in with you dear. I just started transitioning...don't intend doing the big chop. Believe is going to turn out well as I presently use butter and glycerin with other stuff added to it to keep my hair silky and well moisturized.

Today in my hair journey...wow my bump in the road was COLOR, Had to cut 6 inches...the color changed everything about my hair (DAMAGED) so I cut it out.. I went from bra strap to shoulder length, its been about 6 months and I just now recovered, my hair is back to being healthy and strong and finally all the shedding has stopped...it was a hard lesson to learn..lol my hair iq has definitely went up, i was trying all kind of new products,, found some i like and some i just wasted my money but whats a journey without a few bumps in the road...thanks for sharing you video and pics

I'm in for 2017 challenge! The thing is... I start nursing school in 2017 and I'm not for sure how the time will be with being able to do my hair! So I was wanting to do more protective styling while taking a new hair vitamin I purchased. Going to my lady so she can trim my hair (love her) for me in January so I can have fresh ends.

I've been on my hair journey for the longest. I stopped doing perms about 6 years ago and switched to texturizes but only about twice a year to keep my hair manageable. Now I have fully cut out texturizers completely since I cut my hair and its so difficult but I'm trying to hang in there.

Everyone before their natural hair journey had LONG permed hair. My hair was never long at all , even with permed hair 😕And it's been the same length (for years) since I went natural and I probably only put heat on it twice in that 2-3 years and it's still at neck length. At this point I'm gonna get a weave and if it don't grow at least an inch in these 2 months then I'm getting my hair shaved for good

Yeah that happened to me, I went to the salon to get color and a trim mind you my hair was a little bit pass my shoulders. This heffa done cut my DAMN hair into a bob, and Fck'd up the color😣 had me looking like a short head pumpkin. I was enraged 😲Ever since then I trim and style my own hair and it's back healthy 🤗
OMG, this video just further confirmed my fear of going to a stylist for a "Trim"! After all I'VE been thru on THIS JOURNEY, I will literally lose my NATURAL MIND and go straight postal worker on somebody for cutting off my length!!!! So I feel your anger girl! lol
My hair was growing so well this year. I finally got to shoulder length but during the summer my life became crazy. I broke up with my boyfriend and was going through a lot of stress and I was giving my hair the tlc it needed. Then I found out I was pregnant and it was down hill from there. I was always tired so I had no strength what so ever to do my hair. I got my hair washed and blowed by the Dominicans. Worse thing I could've ever done. I thought because she didn't use the flat iron I would be good. My curls are gone and my hair is damaged. So I'm starting from the beginning again.

I have had 2 big chops and one omg my hair is falling out in the shower from the scalp! No one touches my hair but my sisters and my mother now. Joy and Faith and our mom has a stylist. Note: my hair is longer than theirs right now. Why? Because I do my own hair or mom does my hair. I can't stand stylist who cut off all your hair for no good reason.

I want to get a blow out and a trim to start a new hair journey and then trim myself from that point I'm almost armpit length but I'm so scared to get a blow out and they chop all my hard work off even tho I had many set backs that I made myself I just don't want someone else setting me back lol I been looking into salons for natural hair but I'm still so scared I haven't been to a salon since I was 5 and from that point I just been scared lol my long term goal is midback length and my short term is bra strap your hair always been long even when they chopped it off but if someone accidentally chop my hair off I'll be bald lmaooo and since I been subbed I never knew u had a baby congrats on your baby and thank u for sharing your hair journey pictures I hope one day my blow out looks as good as yours! #hairinspo

I had the same problem and then started growing my hair by changing up everything. Ask me. 1. I started taking a women's multiple vitamin from target called Fusion gumming. 2. Stopped going to african american salons found a Dominican shop. 3. Started wrapping my hair whenever I'm home-never sleep with hair down on pillow case. 4. Use chi hair products moisture shampoo, protein conditioner and a oil that keeps hair from reverting. 5. Also use coconut oil on ends and edges once hair is done. 6. In the beginning I used to massage scalp day and night with proactive growth oil. 7. Stopped letting stylist trim your hair only do it when you want it done. 8. Tell stylist upfront your growing hair and not to cut it.

please tell me how u did that. grow your hair so much. your hair grows really fast in just one year.i usually get weaves cuz they last for 3 months. so i get them every 3 months.i wash my hair about every 3 months. is that why its not that long. i have 4c hair. and i found out that no matter what type if hair you have, it can still be very long. i really want long natural hair so that way i can straighten it for school and all that. but my hair straighten us probably up to my chest. i really want my hair to be up to my lower back. almost down to my bootie. please. someone help. i cant really try out hair products unless they are safe since im only 13. So i dont have that ability
