A complete player. Does everything. Controls pace. His ability of fast choices making is unique. Unpredictable. High IQ virtuosity. You cannot imitate such a round player.
The mavs need to add another superstar and they'll start winning championships.
Facts
Realistically, we don't even need another superstar level player. Our role players are extremely inconsistent in shooting in comparison to the 2nd half of last year and the Playoffs. Should we get good 3&D such as Bogdanovic, Hield or Tyrese Haliburton, we'd be solid, along with another ball handler to take some minutes off of Luka's hands. This team is strange, because while it's a great build on paper for Luka, the players don't perform to standards. He'd easily average 10+ APG were his spot up shooters consistent

Luka is luka. He shouldn't be compared to anyone. He have his own style. He looks slow but handles the ball really well. He's hard to guard. Great court awareness and good shooting percentage inside or outside. You double team him, he'll find the open man. He is the Dallas mavericks heart.
I don't know why people soo many compare him with Larry Bird. For me their style of playing definitely isn't similar. Maybe both of them are unathletic and have great IQ, but for me theyare still different players. He is more of combination between Lebron James and James Harden.

@@shaunakkulkarni4679 yeah, but right now since the biggining of this season, Luka is really good defensively. He isn't 1st or 2nd team all defense, but his defense has definitely improved. He is 3rd in the league in steals per game. I hope he will continue to play like this and I hope his defensive stats won't get any worse than this and it would be fine. He is still 24 years old soo to be one of the top 3 players in steals is also nice foe his age.
@@hristijandimitrovski8664 I think if you look he will be 24 his next BD. Really good defensively is really all you need from him. Yeah it would be great if you have a guy like that who is just lock down on defense but putting out that much energy on both ends and playing a lot of minutes is just tough to do..He would be a star if he were just half assed on D but he is very good. His rebounding is outstanding for a power forward much less a guard. I think when he ages he might make an excellent 3, but it's hard to see him giving up the ball for that. He's just too intense.
@@hristijandimitrovski8664 both appear to be non athletic, but both were great athletes. White guys with that build just look slow. You don't rebound and run the floor the way they do and not be a little athletic. There is more to it than being able to jump out of the gym.

Luka is very good in today's NBA, could continue putting up crazy numbers for years, definitely make Dallas a playoff team every year, could win a MVP any year if health, but needs to win the championship.....before he is truly compare to the greatest of all time.

You know these days a player can be as great as anyone who ever laced them up but if you don't get a ring the fans don't consider you great. Same thing in football for QBs.
There have been some very average QBs win superbowls over the years. Payton Manning shouldn't even gave been on the field when he played for Denver he had lost so much. Trint Dilfer, Brad Johnson, Doug Williams. Jim McMahan, Jeff Hostetler, and Mark Rypien to name a few and every time one of those guys wins one a great QB doesn't.
Basketball with just a dozen guys total is different, but it isn't that those pkayer who never win one aren't great, its fans thinking that the one guy can win it. Derk for 45 days in a single year was the best player in basketball. He was right up there with the very best his entire career, but that one time in his life he was the best. If had not been though, it's as if everyone would have said 20 years and he wasted his time. Things have to fall right for teams with a single star. You have to have people like JJ Barrea, and even friggin Brian Cardinal have the games if their lives as well. Dallas wasn't devoid of talent, but they had had better teams, and other teams that year had more talent, but the stars aligned and things fell right for Dallas. If they had been beaten again Derk would have finished his career with the exact same stats. That wouldn't have been on him, that would be on the fans for discounting him.
Luka is 23, and there is way to much ahead of him to start worrying about if he will ever get a ring. There are nights when he us as dominate as anyone has ever been, and beyond that we just need to watch how the cards fall.

Man i never really thought about Luka's gravity, but he does have a lot of gravity now that i think about it. I always just associated gravity with Curry but nah, recently over the past like 20 or so games, every time he touches the ball, its an IMMEDIATE double team, like instant, as soon as he crosses half court he gets doubled, and in the Pacers game 2 days ago, THEY DOUBLED HIM IN THE BACKCOURT THE ENTIRE GAME AND HE STILL GOT 39. He gets double from the very start of the game, not even when hes hot or anything, even if hes cold and missed like 4 shots in a row, they STILLLL double the man

Luka is great, He reminds me of Larry Bird, in quite a few ways, unathletic yet able to dictate the pace of the game with ridiculous IQ and his fundamentals sharpened to the point that he can pop off horse shots at a moments notice that'll make you say "What the hell was that!?". The problem is that he's so many levels ahead of everyone else on his team. He's due for some help, maybe a Jordan/Kobe-style teammate to help fill in the physical void and facilitate plays.
The nice part is t5hat he is getting more athletic as time goes by (as it should be) and that unlocks him even more. Sadly, I agree, he needs another true threat beside him to win a ring.
