    • @OxOffRoad
      @OxOffRoad  Před 6 lety +1

      @@corksauve4949 Yes it actually was, the closer the fork to the lock ring without touching the better. If we optimized with the gasket installed when someone installed without a gasket just using RTV the fork would bind with lock ring. The difference is pretty insignificant it really doesn't matter gasket or not.

      Couldn't tell you for sure how many we have destroyed, we haven't heard of any yet, but by the current video views it could be as many as 198,512. This is not a ring and pinion setup instructional video it is a general information video to show the process of installing a locker which just switches out the carrier without messing with the pinion setup and assumes a proper gear setup prior to disassembly. There are many details not in the video in the interest of not making a 2 hour video. The locker comes with a complete set of instructions that covers everything. If you need any help with your setup let us know we would be glad to help.

    Why do you recommend using silicone instead of a gasket when installing the diff cover?

    • @OxOffRoad
      @OxOffRoad  Před 3 lety

      It doesn't really make much difference, a gasket can be used. The only reason we make the recommendation is the gasket moves the cover and fork assembly away from the lock ring that it engages in. With no gasket the distance is closer optimum. The closer the fork is to the lock ring without radial contact the better. Honestly the small distance is fairly insignificant. If I have a choice between a nice reusable gasket like a lube locker style or the silicone would run the gasket.

I dont understand the logic behind that. The gm 10 bolt is like the d35 garbage same with the d30 why spend close to 2g on a locker for a weak axle. Would love to see a gm14 or Dana 70 more one ton applications

      We are currently working on designs for more of the 1 ton axles. There is a substantial demand for the lockers that we currently make. I'm inclined to agree with your statement, however not everyone is looking for a locker for hardcore off-road use. It does seem like more and more people are understanding the need for the heavier duty axles, and the demand is becoming larger to be sure.
