I've been intermittent fasting for almost a year - best thing I could have done - I was a grazer - snacked all day - my body got to it's perfect weight and I stopped losing weight but am maintaining it - I fast 19/5 which is supposed to be the perfect combo for women to lose weight - I feel so much better and am enjoying wearing smaller sizes. I will do this forever.
I didn’t think Dr. Maxfield could be any more handsome, but the beard and freckles just put him on a whole new level 😊
They both drop dead..aren't they? More so..they both come across as genuine gentle souls..no egos or arrogance coming through..doctors I would for sure feel safe under....I appreciate that the most about them
They are both adorable and informative!
He's stunning. Should be a male model!
Right!?!?! these two are so purdy I sometimes don’t even realize I’m not listening to what they are saying I have to rewind the entire video. This is a problem. I might have to close my eyes with future videos to get through them once.
That smile is dreeeeaaaaaammmmmy
IF has been life changing for me. My entire household started January 1st and we have all had incredible results. I am female and recently turned 50. No matter what diet I followed, the few results I got were tiny and painfully slow. With IF, i have lost 30.53 lbs in just under 2.5 months . We eat mainly meat and green vegetables. NO sugar, no highly processed foods…basically when food shopping you stick to the outside edges of the store. We also visit our local farmer’s store for fresh eggs and milk. I was worried about the cost of such a diet, but it has worked out that I am spending about the same. I started with the 18/6 schedule but now am comfortable with 20/4. Those 4 hours of eating are flexible for me, but it works best if I am done eating by 2-3pm.
One week I will do a 24 hour fast and the next week I do 48 hours. On fasting days I will drink a little bit of homemade bone broth. Make sure you keep your electrolytes up while fasting! The headaches and muscle cramps are no joke if you don’t!!
My two sons have had even better results (about 40 lbs lost in the same timeframe). But they are in their late 20’s so I expect that kind of progress for them.
We all joined the local gym two weeks ago, so the healthy journey has quickly and easily become a lifestyle that works well for us all.
To make sure you don't plateau, make sure you change up the fasting period.
@@iss8504 thanks for the tip!
Your efforts to be healthy and fit are so commendable and inspiring. More power to you
I’m sorry sorry 😊
@@iss8504 but i thought one would love to plateau after losing the planned weight? As in, afer hitting target weight, plateauing would be good if one continues with IF to continue reaping the fasting benefits without becoming underweight. No?
How exciting my two favorite Doctors starting a Podcast 🎉🎊💯where do you find the time? Interesting subject.
Stoked for this. Thanks for the podcast I didn't even know I wanted.
When I decided to get serious about losing weight, I realized that at 50, my skin would suffer so I went hard on skincare. 35 pounds and my skin looks really good.
Hello I am curious to know more about your regime?
@@rhondajansenvanvuuren392 I went consistent with the retin A, Timeless vit C, and sunscreen. Then I started omnilux LED daily. These alone made a difference. Then I started trying to fight my hyperpigmentation with Naturiam tranaxamic acid. I switched to Faded. Then I started regular TCA peels from Platinum skincare. I watch Angie from Hot and Flashy. I think retin A at night with a moisturizer and Vit C in the morning with sunscreen and a daily LED should make a difference. Anything else is just extra. Good luck!
@@rhondajansenvanvuuren392 to be clear though, while I recommend going simple, I totally don't lol. I do peptides, copper peptides, Q10, resveritrol, matrixyl synth 6 and 3000, argiraline and anything else that looks good. I do the LED but also TCA peels, dermaroll, and starting Nira laser, and want to buy the nebulyft radio frequency when I can afford it. I have the Newa RF but it takes too long. Also have the nuface but haven't been consistent. Lol I told you I went hard. Start slowly with tretinoin, vit C, and sunscreen and add LED, unless you're obsessed like me.
@@denisenj7648 Thanks for sharing.
@@denisenj7648which sunscreen works for you?
I’ve been intermittent fasting for 2 years and have maintained my 75lb weight loss. I found myself obsessed with meal prep, counting calories. Etc. It made weight loss so very obsessive and miserable. Intermittent fasting I eat and then I’m done. I don’t have to think about it during my non eating hours.
I have lost 86 pounds in the last 10 months while on a drug in the same family as Ozempic for type II Diabetes. I definitely have the hollowness of the face and have a hangy gizzard neck that itself makes me look old. I will say that I would take the aging over morbid obesity any day! I didn’t realize that there were options other than surgery that may help - very encouraging!!!
Awesome. Congratulations.. and u are probably so much healthier now!!
I’m glad that there are more alternatives for significant weight management besides bariatric surgery. I know that Ozempic and the ilk are getting bashed because the celebrities are misusing the product to lose those “last 10 lbs”, but for significantly overweight person or a person who is overweight because of PCOS, these medicines are a less invasive option to bariatric surgery.
I’m glad that you touched up the real reason for the loose skin. It has nothing to do with Ozempic. If someone loses a rapid amount of weight, then one will get loose skin.
I was on Ozempic and it changed my life. I've always been fat and am always hungry. To manage my weight, I have changed my lifestyle, and it's a battle everyday. Once I am on Ozempic, all of my craving is gone and it's so much more easier to maintain a healthy diet, while still being able to enjoy food. I never feel that intense hunger that I have and I finally feel normal.
I just started taking it and hoping that it will help me with my diabetes 🙏🏾 and weightloss. Have you experienced the "ozempic face" yet
@@fafizothere is such thing. It happens anytime you lose a lot of weight regardless if you are on wegovy
Great first episode so glad you two decided to start a podcast!
I know you already have a video on your channel about it but Would love to hear more about your academic background/med school experience
Dr. Shah’s eyebrows are everything!! 😊
This is actually SO interesting! Making skincare videos so thought provoking :)) Thank youuu!
I 💜 that you guys brought up UV lamps in nail salons. They are used so often and I haven’t heard a recent discussion surrounding it. I have been using red/infrared light therapy for my face and other areas. I know how powerful using different light can be. Definitely asking about the lamps when I call the salon!
Thanks guys! 😎
I find this podcast so relaxing to listen to. Thanks guys!
The best way I have found for losing weight is to eat my carbs during the day. In the evening, my dinner consists of a protein, salad, and vegetable. 90% of the time, I don't eat any rice, potatoes, or noodles at night. I have lost 20 pounds doing this. The weight has come off slowly, but surely. I now weigh 125 lbs. It is my lifestyle now, and I don't miss those carbs at all! I also have way less gas and bloating doing this.
So satisfying to hear you guys discuss the exact shortcomings I noticed in that paper--that the UV exposure was 20 minutes in duration rather than in the short, infrequent amounts used in salons and at-home devices. Like, I specifically don't do gel nails (aside from very special occasions) because I was like "this is like... a tanning bed for my fingers???" and figured there would be cellular damage, but the researchers need to try to replicate similar conditions to make claims.
I love it when you two are on together!🥰
I’ve been intermittent fasting for a year. Lost weight so quickly. Now maintaining
I love this podcast, it was very interesting and honest... Thanks a lot guys!! ❤❤
Great podcast. Great information, making some complex issues easy to understand.
Thanks guys! Your information is very helpful and the podcast was fun!
YAYY I love this podcast already guys!! Great first episode! 🤍🤍
Thank you! Please keep posting on YT. Could you talk more about signs of skin cancer on light and darker skin? Emphasis on darker skin because it seems harder to identify.
I love your dynamic, so fun to watch you 🙏🏻
Loved the podcast format. Fantastic thank you!
3:05 exactly! Personally, I think it makes more sense to build up the muscles underneath and then let the resulting increased metabolism help melt the fat slowly while moisturizing religiously. That way the skin has a chance to adjust slowly. Worked for me before, during and after pregnancy.
Thanks for the podcast! Exciting stuff 🎉
Love this new podcast! Love you guys♥
I use sunscreen on my hands and wear protective gloves during gel manicures. Whether or not there is a significant risk, I figure there's no harm in being on the safe side.
Thank you doctors, truly appreciate you! ❤
Great podcast! Keep them coming. Thanks!
SO HAPPY for more of these two derm dudes on my YT screen time!
Thank you for this! I lost 25% of my body weight while in the CCU a couple of years ago and my skin looked really crepey. Building back muscle helped a little bit, but I think its current state is where it will stay.
Dr Shaw you are my inspiration.Super inteligent human with a super beautiful smile!❤
Love you guys! I don't miss a thing from you here.Keep it coming!
loved the podcast! Can't wait for you guys to do an episode on hairloss 😅
Love it!! All current topics
I LOVE this. Can't wait for more podcasts. Love this style of content where you touch on relevant topics with a more scientific angle.
This is great, a podcast was a brilliant idea. Keep them coming
Enjoyed hearing your thoughts about intermittent fasting. I've been doing it for almost three years now and think it's great. Since you guys are talking about random different topics, can you talk about best laundry detergents, since it's somewhat of a skin-related topic? I tend to use the free and clear versions, since I think my skin tends to be sensitive, but maybe certain brands are better than others?
I didn’t ask for this, BUT I’M HERE FOR IT! 😍 Keep it going.
Hi Docs , can you please cover the patches under the eyes benefits and cons about them
First let me thank you both for the work you do. I have learned so much about proper skin care and am actually spending less with better results! I just wish you were on more often!
Several years ago I lost 85 lb on a medically supervised fast (and gained it all back over time!). I was told at the outset we would have loose skin and NOT to do any kind of cosmetic procedure for at least a year because it takes that long for your skin to adjust.
This sweater looks amazing Dr. Shah, I love the color!
Very interesting! And helpful! Especially about ozempic…have been considering for my husband and today is my one year gastric bypass surgiversary! My skin changes have been totally manageable--yes it’s there but it’s not horrible but I know it’s very different for every person
Dynamic duo!! Great video!
Super podcast! Please could you do podcasts on different types of peels, lasers, Morpheus8 and other types of medical facials 🙏🏻
Aww, this podcast is almost too cool! keep it rolling Doctorly❤
Honestly, I respect doctors who change their stance based on current data than doctors who are always right. If you’re always right, then you’re wrong.
I'm so glad you gents are doing this! Already subscribed on Spotify. 👍❤️👍❤️
Awesome! Thank you so much for the support!
A cardiologist I follow states that frequent eating leads do insulin resistance and intermittent fasting helps decrease insulin resistance.
Love this !!!! 😃 Thanks guys !
Great video doctors! Thank you for so much useful information and clarifying doubts. My very specific question is for someone who has had bariatic surgery and now has loose face skin. What can they do to improve the skin texture and increase fat in face again without going under the needle. My cousin had it done because he was on the verge of getting diabetic while being obese. I’ve been suggesting him skincare recommended by you guys but maybe something more specific might help. Thanks.
I found this so informative especially the comments about intermittent fasting. I watch all your videos and find you break it down (all skin related topics) for us laypeople. I would appreciate it if you could speak more about red light therapy masks and whether overtime they might lead to the skin on the face to look "worse" than when starting the recommended time to show improvement. I have two devices and notice around the eyes the skin appears to be more inflamed and heavily creased,....and the skin on my eyes feel and look like it has been stretched despite the placement of the mask (avoiding the eyes). Has anyone else had/have this problem? I would love to continue using red light but wondering if it's something I have to give up? Love all your "stuff"!
Love the podcast concept!
Great video Dr's. , thank you 😇
Am I the only one who can't stop staring at Dr. Shah's eyebrows? I want them! 😊😊
I noticed his eyebrows almost instantly. I thought hmmm, I need to do something with mine. I also looked at Dr. Maxwell’s to see if his were shaped like Dr. Shah, but nope. He has that rugged look. 😁
@A. Marie Dixon-Jenkins Mine are practically non-existent! I could use just 1/3 of his!
Thank you Drs,this was fantastic,l enjoyed every minute 👏👏👏👏👏🙏💙💙
LOve the podcast idea. It works well!!
Oh my gosh! A new Podcast from my favorite CZcams dermatologist. Love this for you and us. Thank you! ❤❤
Can you discuss EGFs in skincare, products from brands like drunk elephant ( protini moisturiser and serum ) are formulated with EGFs, but then there are safety concerns and controversies with these ingredients.
Intermittent fasting came up in regard to cancer research long before the diet fad. It showed it lowered IGF; higher levels of IGF stimulated tumor growth and metastasis.
I am so blessed by the two of you. Don’t ever stop. ❤❤ I mean it doesn’t hurt that you are both so good looking but it is so much more than that. I’m a fan and I trust your recommendations because not only you are actual doctors but also because you are both real and raw. What else can I say? Love you both.❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
A DOCTORLY PODCAST?! This is the best day ever
Thank you, doctors ❤❤
Thank you for being kind about Ozempic, I'm so tired of influencers bashing it. Just because some celebrities use it when they shouldn't doesn't mean that there aren't people who do need it to lose weight. I lost 45 pounds over 10 months with Ozempic, which I think is pretty slow but I still am suffering with "Ozempic face" even though I was on top of my skincare, mainly eye bags. I've always had pronounced tear trough lines but never bags like this, it sucks.
Agree, it is really beneficial for those who suffer obesity due to serious factors, including depression or other health issues. It’s bashed a lot online and even news reports don’t cover it accurately.
But that’s the thing. It’s not for weight loss. It’s for Type 2 diabetes
@@DrBarbarella It is for both, Wegovy, which is the exact same medication (semiglutide) is fda approved for weight loss. People are only taking Ozempic because there is a shortage in wegovy. I 100% agree with the sentiment that people with diabetes should have priority when there is a shortage, but I see many with the attitude that you shouldn't take it for weight loss even when there is ample supply. These medications can prevent diabetes from ever developing for many people. When I took it there was not a shortage in Ozempic but Wegovy was new so there was a shortage for that. But I do think that now that it is blowing up doctors should not prescribe for weight loss until there is no longer a shortage.
@@jordanleigh54 what does it do for people who already have T2 diabetes? You’re saying it’s preventative, but is it useless for those who’ve had diabetes for 10+ years?
@@Daniella_M uh what? Just because I said it’s preventative doesn’t not imply that is useless for people with diabetes. I said it should be prioritized for people with diabetes.
Thanks for the video. A lot of doctors are discouraging the use of Ozempic or Wegovy and it makes no sense because it’s not only diabetics who need it. I take Wegovy. I just started the first week of January and am down 19 lbs. So far no problems with my skin. My weight gain came from my epilepsy medications. Unfortunately, now I’m obese, have high cholesterol and pre-diabetic. I have a very high family history of diabetes on both sides of my family. Usually the onset is at about 50 years old. I’m pushing 50 now.
was here for the IF and UV lamp issue. gosh! the gel manicures I’ve been doing 😮😅
all these inverted triangle examples. “Handsome squidward” 😂 thanks for the information and a good laugh to go with it. Watching this was good for my soul tonight
Another great video!!! Would love to hear your thoughts on the nushape lipo belt some time. Thanks for all your videos 😊
Yes ,it is addicting! The more you do the more you want!
I just love dr maxfield’s smile 😅☺️
Thank you for this. I also didn't know I needed this podcast.
My question is about the efficacy of Red Light Therapy such as Omnillux? What do you two doctors think?
“More Mature” naaah 😂. Glad you started a podcast! I’ve learned so much from you two, thank you !
Can we please get a video on viral toners and how often they can be used?
It’s true about the UV lamps at nail salons. I began getting what I thought were premature age spots - but no other spots anywhere on my body. I suspected it was the UV lights so I stopped getting those manicures. The “aging” of my hands stopped progressing.
Y’all are definitely the medical professionals I trust the MOST in terms of content creators, so I’m glad you’re being wary of giving advice that you’re not sure about (like the diet stuff).
Thank you so much for this amazing podcast! I'd love for you to talk about pregnancy damage to skin (loose skin, strech marks etc) and how to reverse those damages. Thank you so much
Hi! Can y’all make a video on your opinion of (sunless) self-tanning mouse, gel, lotion, etc.? Do these have negative consequences on the skin/body?
Dr., could you please review the effectiveness of NUNA anti-aging device?
Can you please talk about magnesium deficiency? I have been hearing a lot about it and don’t know if I should be taking vitamins!
I would like it if you would talk about sculptra for older skin. Does it work?
Have y'all made a video about Vitamin C ? Or skin care order, mouthing routine and night routines?
Great podcast 🤍 what is your intake for collagen supplements. DO they really work and diminish wrinkles. Thank you!
Aww. So cute salmon pink sweatshirt💕
I love 16-8 IF. Have lost 72 this year after a lifetime of yo-yo dieting. No meds no surgery.
Lost 60 lbs in a year and a half with IF. Fatty liver GONE, pre diabetes GONE. I look and feel younger. I don’t worry about calories and I enjoy life!
The 16-8 schedule doesn’t work for a lot of people unless they have a LOT of weight to lose.
I know you all didn’t go over eyes but was wondering if you could talk about bags which I started getting at 35. They are really puffy what could improve this problem with out surgery im 57 now and each year it obviously gets worse as age creeps on.I would love to get get them removed but the cost is a bit much. Seems to bother my sight some by the swelling.
I took Mounjaro for 2-1/2 months and lost 29 pound at age 65. Yes I combined intermittent fasting with it and drank a ton of water. I qualified because I have high cholesterol and high blood pressure and high glucose. Now that my numbers are down, I don’t qualify anymore. So I can’t afford to stay on it. All the carb cravings are back. It’s been two months off it now and I haven’t gained it back but I sure feel Ike I’m eating more.
I don't know if he has been mentioned here or not, but if you want to learn about IF and anti-aging, look up Dr. David Sinclair. Fantastic!
Our two popular doctors with a podcast,,,,YES PLEASE‼️ We 💜💚💙it & we love & appreciate you both🥇🥇🥇
What would you recommend for tear trough or eye bags?
Hey- would you guys discuss products that are safe/unsafe during pregnancy and breastfeeding? I recently had an np prescribe hydroquinone for melasma 2 mo pp, saying that so little gets into the bloodstream, it's fine. Then saw my derm md and was told it was totally unsafe while breastfeeding. Now I've been researching what skincare is safe/unsafe and I feel like it's my new part time job. Please explain! Love you guys!
Is it safe to slug with dry and acne prone skin? and how exactly can I do that?
I think intermittent fasting works for people over 50. When I was young I ate every few hours. I have never been overweight since walking, running, and lifting weights, but in my 50's I do intermittent fasting and it works well.
Never think of that, but you have a point
Many nail salons use LED lights rather than UV lights for gel manicures.
😆😆😆 I was laughing when you were discussing older and more mature and Elon Musk reversing time. Thanks guys for your honesty really and you ve got a great dynamics. I really enjoyed to listen to you eventho at the beginning I was like what 1 hour, its probly gonna be boring :D it wasnt! Cheers from Czech Rep
Kindly make a video on uremic pruitis treatment
Can you do a radio frequency at home device video?
Is the Medicube glow booster a new way to produce more collagen for thinning face? I wanted to add more plumpness to my face for fine lines and thinning areas on my face without using any injections.
