- Well hello everybody and welcome to Episode 40 of Glitch Picnic: Super Mario Bros 3 Glitches!
You might have noticed for yourself that the intro has changed, and for the much, much better! Well, @Vanilliyan and @StarnyArt from twitter contacted me to start a project for rebranding the channel, and it's fair to say they've done an amazing job for me! So happy with the outcome.

The audio glitch sounds like a direct inversion of the 1up theme. Like it plays in reverse before immediately playing normally.

cool video, but im surprised you didn't mention the glitch worlds you can access with the boat glitch. If you keep scrolling right for a while you will start finding glitched maps with weird tiles and weird glitched levels

With hacks you can do the gray Hammer Mario glitch outside of that room, which shows another neat side effect: because you're still in statue mode, you're invincible.

Yes. Mid-air jumping after walking off a ledge and munchers advancing with a pause are undoubtedly glitches.

The extended 1up tune was a scrapped official tune. The glitch forces it to cue at its original beginning.

In world 3-4, the "solid" coins after hitting a P-switch *are* supposed to work like that. Blocks that contain hidden coins or powerups visually change into coins, but can't be collected and continue to work as if they were still blocks, presumably because Nintendo didn't want to risk the game breaking in case you collected something necessary (like, say, a vine block). 3-4 isn't the only level where this happens, either.

8:38 but most of us can agree that you hear a lot of messed up sounds when playing Mario 3 Online with Switch Online lol
13:42 The little pipes you see in these levels are not normal ones. These are two different pipes alternating between pipe A and pipe B, which means they will hurt you just like the animated munchers do. You can also easily get hurt by the top of the pipe, or "pipe hinge" that is shown on screen without flying if you time it right, by trying to do a wall-jump from it. I have been accidentlly killed like this once.
6:03 This might of not been intentional, however this was needed to make jumping much easier for you while bouncing around a lot in those boot. You are in the air most of the time because of this. Otherwise, you would need to stop running so you stop bouncing in them to jump, or you need to jump frame-perfect.

That muncher thing is definitely a "glitch" in my opinion... but it's a glitch that came from hardware limitations.
It's an issue with tying the muncher state to a global timer, which doesn't stop when the game is paused. Whether or not they could have stopped the global timer when the game is paused is where I'm not sure it's a limitation, but the reason they had to use this timer is because it would take too much memory and processing to have each individual muncher have its own timer counter. So they just tied them all to a global state and made two different types of munchers that alternated on different parts of the state and called it a day.

When I was a kid I had a "glitched cartridge" of SMB3 that caused an interesting effect at the world 8 bowser fight. If I was not at the door to the room peach was in and holding up the game would pause and be stuck paused. And before anyone asks no I was no using a game genie when this happened

I finded a couple more smb3 glitches. If youre off the screen on an airship that bobs up and down (3 is where i discovered it) and get crushed between the screen and a wall, it wont play the entire death tune. And its not really a glitch per se, but in that extra life slot machine game, if you push a or b when the stars top layer is on the left side of the screen, then match the stars midsection to the top as normal, then for the bottom section, push a or b when youre lined up with the bottom section of the flower, you get the 5 ups every time. Not sure why this is, but it does. The only part thats remotely hard is lining up the middle to the top, and thats the technique everybody uses. I did this on an snes smb all stars cartridge, so i dont know if it works on emulators or the nes cartridge

Have you looked at all into the Wrong Warp in this game? It allows the average player to reach the end of the game in less than 5 minutes, and it's currently brought the any% world record to just over 3 minutes.
I have indeed, but with the amount of work I have on at the moment I couldn't delve too far into it because it'd have been another year before release XD
@@MikeyTaylorGaming I feel ya. It took me forever to accomplish the World 1-1 flagpole glitch in SMB1 for myself back when I had the idea for a show similar to Glitch Picnic. Practice makes perfect, I guess.
