  • Scoliosis is an incurable condition, because the cause is unknown. It can, however, be managed effectively with the proper treatment. How one approaches treatment will depend on whether they have a mild, moderate or severe curve. Dr. Tony Nalda categorizes these approaches as either traditional or functional.

I think surgery is the last option. Seen to many horror stories. My approach is to train in the gym. I stay away from spine loading excises like squats and deadlifts focus on stretch and strengthening and it seem to work. Been doing this for 34 years. Doctors didn't seem to have no interest so i managed it myself. Lot of people don't even notice even though my S curve is 90 to 100 degrees. I hide it well.

@@iheomambanu7449 well i look at doing belt squats and leg press for quads, chin ups, hyperextensions and pulldowns to stretch my back. Core work to hold everything together.

Will decompression help with my moderate scoliosis I am 73 years old I do go to a chiropractor and PT and my chiropractor has also suggested Cold Lazer. I also wear a back soft brace. What is your opinion on Lazer and decompression. My chiropractor uses an activator I guess it helps, however there are days when the pain very bad I have also been told my pelvic is tilted. I do my exercises at home I will admit sometimes I put it off because I don't have the energy. I am still as active as I can be I live alone so things must be done. I don't vacuum I found the bringing the vaccumn back and forth aggravates my back. My scoliosis is in my lumbar. My neck is beginning to feel like a crooked neck so the doctor will work on that area also. Any suggestions oh yes I do go 2x a week to both PT and my chiropractor. My walking is limited as my standing. I can only stand about 5-10 minutes before I am looking for a seat walking no more than 6 to 20 feet depending on my level of pain .

I think I need your advice I am an 18 year old I was just diagnoised with scoliosis a couple of months ago . It was discovered due to consistent pain in my back , also pain in my shoulder and elbow during fencing training . So two months into physio thearpy which was recommended by my team's doctor I don't feel any better . Would quitting fencing help stopping the curve from getting worse or would only switching sides help better .(the doctor said my curve was less than 25°)

Is an online consultation possible? I don’t live in the states, but I’m very concerned about how to manage my back and can’t seem to find professionals to adress my questions properly. Thank you

Dr. Nalda is only able to provide treatment recommendations for individuals he has physically seen in the office in Celebration, Florida. For patients who are not local, we have developed an intensive care treatment plan. This condenses the duration and increases the intensity of the treatment. This intensive formula is what provides the ability to overcome the progressive nature of scoliosis. Intensive does not mean painful; it simply means lots of treatment in a short period of time. After the office treatment is received, patient’s receive an individualized home program to sustain the results achieved.
