While I agree with you in general, when you start with can I be monetized you’ve at least invited the question.
The question here is not about how rich or poor she is, it’s a - “how much can one make on CZcams if one did what she does” - a very different kind of question. I’m grateful she is willing to share. It’s educational.

@@NorthernHomestead I agree; as someone who is dipping my toe in to supplement my retirement, I would be grateful to know at least what "ballpark" we are playing in to see if it is something that I want to spend my limited time and resources on. At our age, every little bit counts and it's also hard to recover from mistakes at an older age. Greatly appreciate the share.
That type of thinking is what set us women up to not ask anything about money, which led to us being paid much less than men and not know how to manage our own finances, so I'm glad to see it go the way of the dinosaurs. If someone doesn't want to answer it, they can just say they'd rather not answer, or ask why the person is asking which may lead to a better, more helpful discussion.
You are already being a teacher and mentor to us all. You don’t need to do anything else, provide anything else, share anything else.

I don't watch just for the content. There are a lot of people doing you tube and their character and life circumstances keep me watching. I don't need to watch a computer I need a honest sincere empathetic person who loves animals and the world. I'm 6 years older than you and you know maturity makes us read others. It's the time that I don't need drama but am so thankful to see positive people like you. ❤❤

On a personal note… Canada, overall is absolutely beautiful. My father was born there. The first trip, my husband I took was to Vancouver Island, and we went to Butchart Gardens. Absolutely beautiful and stunning. Someday I hope to go back there in memory of my husband.

My opinion is: no one needs to know (& should not be asking) what you make by doing these, and I hope you will not oblige those who ask. Same goes for your exact location. But again, this is just my opinion and I feel one needs to take precautions for our own safety - the world is not what it used to be when doors did not need to be locked. 😞 But I will ask a question: have you ever considered a walk with out the background music - as peaceful as it may be - but in reality a nature walk has it's own background music which is also very peaceful. I'm so very thankful for your transparency about money and finances. Us thinking it's *forbidden* to talk about even tangential things like how much we make from a little side hustle is the kind of thinking that led to us being paid much less than men and not knowing how to manage our own money. THANK YOU for going against that and not participating in shaming those who ask. ❤ We need to learn these things, and since men won't teach us, who else is there but each other?
Where you live though, that's a very different story! In this day and age of severe online harassment that not-rarely turns to real-life stalking, it's just plain smart to only give a general area.

Virgin River is filmed in Vancouver, so the tour operator told us last fall on the tour bus.
Place you live looks so much like Portland Oregon area, I love the moist forests and your walk w your dog. I live in the city and have a little city garden, and a dachshund who keeps me in line. I love it that women are finding community and support and learning together on the internet. I am trying to learn about having a CZcams channel and sharing things that I love and things that work for me :) I am watching all your videos, keep up the great work :)

Hello from Texas. I agree with a lot of the comments you do not have to say exactly where you live or how much you make . It will probably very on how many people watch, the length of each video and various other factors. That information is none of other peoples business. I am in my 70"s when people ask about my income and how I can afford certain things I have and do, I reply unless you are supporting me it is none of your business. Enjoy your videos and the walks.

I enjoy watching your walks thru the woods with Skye. The trails are well defined and lots of variety, fields, dense trees and water to enjoy. I lived in Vancouver as a young teen for a couple years and loved it. The mountains, the water and the forests to explore with easy reach of a major city. The west coast has the most beautiful scenery.

Thank you for taking us on a walk with Skye. My daughter and family are on Vancouver Island, at the moment. They rented a cabin on the west side, and said that the tide goes out a kilometer on the beach. I would like to go there too. It is still rude for people to ask how much one earns, not their business, nor do they need to invade your privacy by asking exactly where you live. Staying safe, is a serious priority these days for all of us, not one to be taken lightly. But, what I do know, is that you live in a very beautiful area! I love being close to nature and wildlife, both bring a great deal of enjoyment and peace to one's life.
Wow Jen. I cannot believe people actually ask where exactly you live. That is very personal and none of their business. And yes, for your safety because there are many weird people out in the world, I would never share that either. What they can ask for is a meet and greet as your channel grows and then plan some events somewhere in that region

Are these the same woods where you showed a cougar & bear in an earlier video? Have you ever been approached by a wild critter in these woods? 😮
Yes! Skye and I have seen bears, deer, owls, racoons and lots and lots of rabbits! None of the wild animals here hide and wait to pounce on unsuspecting humans. If they hear you coming, they move away. So I make noise and Skye wears a bell.

I make noise as I walk and Skye wears her bell and stays close to me. Bears and cougars don't want to meet people any more than we want to meet them. All of the wild animals around here are well-fed naturally and don't stalk and attack people.
I once visited Vancouver Island. It was hands down the most beautiful place I have ever visited.

I enjoyed the info on Sky and your kitty. :) I never would have guessed Skye is 3/4 Bernese Mountain Dog! They're my dream dogs, I'm hoping to adopt one in the near future. As for your kitty.... We have one left of three brothers who were rescued when their feral mom was carried off by coyotes shortly after they were born. He's 15 now and has become steadily more cuddly with age, but he definitely was not when he was younger. :) Thank you for sharing your days with us!
Good questions and great answers! There’s something funny about people who do work visible for lots and lots of people to see. Some of those people think that you have to share everything about your live when they want to know it. Look at what happened in the UK with the royal family. You don’t need to tell or do things you dont want to share or do. And above that, you even dont have to explane why you dont. And I get it, your surroundings are breathtaking. Nature is breathtaking and for most people even closer at home than they think. In the Netherlands we have nice woods where I take my dog frequently for a walk just like you and Skye 🐶. Much you make on CZcams, it’s probably for them to weigh if it’s worth the expense and time it takes to get it started. Obviously you just dig right in with no promise of reward .Others might want to role
model to show them the path is worth it. Just letting you know, if you ever decide to sell t-shirts in an online store on your channel, I’ll buy one that says “Silver and Solo”

I’m a baby boomer silver and solo in Texas. All the advice I’ve heard you give is spot on. I love solo living and traveling. I have good friends for attending plays and concerts with and family just 3 hours away.
Your forested walk is beautiful. What kind of wildlife might you encounter?
We (Skye and I) have met deer, racoons, rabbits and bears. All lovely creatures we coexist with!
I'm a keen hiker and that ancient forest looks fabulous. Just what I needed at the end of a very challenging day.
For your question list - have you ever suffered from depression and how do you stay cheerful?
I suffered from depression and anxiety near the end of my time with my last employer. I managed with stoicism as I had a goal and an endpoint in mind. Getting the severance package from that terrible job was my release. But also got medical help in the form of anti-anxiety medication and a couple one-on-one therapy sessions. Everyone tries to put on a cheerful face, but if you're suffering, seek help. It's out there and these days, it's much easier and more accepted to admit you're struggling and there are lots of different avenues to receive assistance. I knew I needed help and I got it. You can too. All good karma coming your way!

I wouldn’t give my precise location either. It’s lovely but I worry in case you encounter a bear or cougar I did worry on the first video too.
Are you ever nervous walking the trail? I would be, seems very isolated. Also are you ever afraid a coyote or pack will attack your dog? I live on 7 acres and have lots of wild life, including bob cats, fox, wolfs, and coyotes.. Also in Nh you have to have a dog on leash when walking outside of our property. Looks like that is not the case where you live. Please be careful when walking alone. Do you ever walk with others?

I’m worried about the same thing for her and her dog, mostly wild animals attacking her little dog.
There are bears and cougars in the area, and wolves further down the coast, but not here. No coyotes. We coexist with all the animals and as I've said to others.... they don't want to meet humans any more than we want to meet them. I make noise and Skye wears her bell and stays close to me to allow them time to hear us coming and move away. Bears don't hide out waiting for unsuspecting people and dogs to walk by so they can attack them! Cougars around here are focused on prey. Deer, rabbits, quail and other birds, and salmon. Some farm animals fall to both bears and cougars, but there's never been an attack on a human.
Here in the province of British Columbia , many people take their dogs on unleashed walks in the forest. Regularly I meet up with a group and we often have 4 or 5 dogs happily exploring the forest. They love it!

Jen, I would be most interested in learning how to edit videos. You were smart enough to learn from other CZcamsrs but I feel I need a formal class and I wonder how I can go about that. If I ask 10 people, they give me 10 different programs and I just become confused. I am nearing 60 as well
I use DaVinci Resolve, the free version. There are a lot of videos out there if you google "davinci resolve for beginners"...

I sell and flip on marketplace locally right now. So do i start video taping me from the beginning to where i end up. I dont know how to start a channel 100% at all. Can you help?

No, it's too good that the people are not breeding dogs anymore. I have a profound dislike of breeders because the crisis is so imesurable of dogs who are dumped and need a new home. The "shelters" are killing more than ever before, worldwide. You shoudn't let your dog chase wildlife. The poor animals are living there, that could be a mother squirrel and if she kills her just for sport, babies will die. Pls teach your dog not to do that. The flip side is one day she might run after an animal that can kill her. You probably won't like my comment but I will make it anyway. I have a neighbor who walks his dogs up the kill every morning. One day I asked him why he takes the dogs all the way up on a leash and he only releases them when they stop in a clearing up the hill. He said that it's because one day one of his dogs killed a jack rabbit and the poor rabbit cried like a human child. He said it traumatized him and he would never want to see that happen again.
