I've just started capoeira in a group in France since September 2021. I wanted to start capoeira for a long time but had no chance to do it as there was no group in my neighborhood at that time. I used to practice sport a lot but stopped for various reasons. Now I am older as I reach 42 and as I restart physical activity can see I need more prep, go step by step slowly and carefully not to get injured. I found your channel a couple of weeks ago because I was looking for conditioning and basics video to train at home in-between in person classes, so not during lock down conditions. I really appreciated the top quality of videos, explanations, the excellent warm up and progression of exercises from simple to complex in each video, I like the way you break down movements and combinations, love the music, the variety of trainings, your style, which is awesome. I was attracted by the movements of Capoeira and the fact that it is complete, mixing playing music, singing, dancing, learning new language, with a beautiful martial art, but the main thing which stroke me when I started in a group and made me fall in love with capoeira, is the atmosphere, its spirit, the feeling of brotherhood, the importance of the group, the search for feeling of flow and connection between music, movements and people making them. I am really hooked on now. Thank you so much for sharing your teachings. They help me a lot. I am really interested in its history and the culture around it. I cannot wait to watch you new videos. Thank you and congratulations for your work, it is amazing and stands out.

Leaving this comment as evidence I was an OG subscriber before this channel becomes huge 🙏 excited to see your platform on CZcams grow, and to be on this capoeira journey as your student!

Thank you for your channel.. i have to say that you are a complete blessing to my wife and I. My knees are terrible with 4 surgeries on each. I can barely move so being a firefighter for over 22 years my knees have taken its toll.. your classes are helping me move again!! Its bringing me back lubrication to my knees through the movements. Your pace and your instruction is top notch. Thank you for your online classes. You are just the rehab the doctor ordered..

I subbed this morning after trying and enjoying the first session you put out. Complete Capoeira beginner here so I'm still trying to get familiar with the movements but I've been looking for something to do instead of 'PE with Joe' in the mornings and this is exactly the sort of thing I was looking for! Looking forward to learning more in the coming weeks, cheers!

Greetings! The moment you mentioned 'Africa' I was in. I love the physical aspect but I am most definitely interested in the whole philosiphy, art, music, Spirituality, language both African (if poss) and Portugise. The whole damn thing! You have 'reach'...please continue the online, even if it's you teaching your students (if they are cool with being filmed). Love from the UK!!!

I did the capoeira with your first video, and it was great. I would like to see a vucabulary of moves, and principles of capoeira, in order to move freely and freestyle with the movement. Maybe it is called floreio, not sure.
With regarding to principles and theory of movement, included in capoeira, i am interested in energy and your opinion about it.
For example: Neguin has strong, fierce energy, and his movement is explosive, fast, precise. So i would like to open up the conversation with you in that direction. From my understanding, movement is expression of personality, and everyone has a different one. So, how to express ourselves through movement better? In my opionion: learn the basics. One is direction: you can move forward, backward, to the side, diagonal. Chose ginga, and then apply the principles of movement. The greater the knowldege, the better the expression. Or is it? Would like to hear your opinion about it.
    Thank you.

Hey! Where are you based? I live in NYC, and my roommate and I just started your videos last week (we've only been doing the first video 3 x's a week last week and this one). I used to study capoeira Angola in Mexico and a little here. I'm trying to get back into it more, understand it culturally, build strength in my upper body, and lose weight. I do have a question. Is there a way I can benefit in capoeira being 6'3" and flexible, or am I at a disadvantage?

Your videos have helped me a lot during this quarantine!! And i am excited to know that the future videos will also have a content focused on the roots, history, culture, legacy and all the dimensions capoeira covers. Thank you so much!!
