I too had the Gameboy Killer Instinct and I remember being blown away by it. I liked seeing the strategy guides you showed and the little posters and inserts that used to be packaged with the games. They were always fun to look at during the drive home from the store where the game was purchased, it always built up the anticipation of playing the game at home for the first time. Great video 👊🏼
MK on Gameboy aka UNDERWATER KOMBAT! Yeah, the booklets were so cool. And they were also used as CERTIFICATION or PROOF OF PURCHASE when you went to school and proved you had the game!
Great collection of KI nostalgia. I wish I still had some of the stuff from when I was younger. That's why I love collecting retro games, consoles, etc. I completely agree with everything you've said in this video. You deserve way more subscribers than you have right now, imo.
This reminds me of the days when I would buy games in the store. I would always open the boxes on my way home in the underground, reading through the manual and having this tinkling excitement of anticipation of what the game would be like.
I really considered the SNES killer instinct for a long while . Before the Arcade 1-up cabinet released. At that point I had to have the 3/4 . Never looked back since . Now I have a dedicated home arcade with all the games I wanted . Always great content GXL
It dawned on me today. I saw one of your comments on a video, don't remember whose it was. And I was like "Wait a minute... THAT's who I found in KI on the 1up last Friday." You were my first opponent on there. The name didn't register with me at the time. Whenever I joined, the game had already picked Sabrewulf for me and you were Cinder. You picked different characters. TJ, Glacius, Fulgore, Sabrewulf. After that, the player who jumped in was 90% TJ and then someone else that was 90% Chief. Haven't hopped back on VS, but yeah. First matches were against you. I just pay attention to profile ICONs more than usernames on here. Now I'll remember.

Well thanks a lot, nah, it was just coincidence, the LIVE stream is delayed by several seconds, which is why when he says something, I don't immediately catch on. Whenever you guys see a FATALITY on stream, we're pretty much already back on Character Select. I did see you comment afterwards and laughed at the timing though. I try to check the chat, but I'm also playing the game, while listening to a delayed repeat of the fight so I can hear what he says. So there's a lot going on. Maybe we can hit CONTINUE when the timer is lower, to give a few seconds to catch up.
@GlaciusXL Are you mainly just a fighting game player or do you like other games? My favorite game of all time is Metal Gear, more specifically MGS1 (Playstation). Do you remember back in the day when Pizza hut would give you Demo disks of games sometimes?? I'm lucky enough to have gotten one of those and that's when my MGS love started. Best stuffed crust pepperoni pizza I've ever had❤

For me, Pizza Hut will always be linked to Outrun and FinalFight. If you have 16 minutes to spare, you can check out an old video I did in 2006 showcasing my collection at that point. I bought my first handgun (The FN Five-SeveN MK2) simply because of Sam Fisher. MGS, Splinter cell, and Rainbow Games opened me up to my career path. Which SC was your favorite?? Yeah man, big fan of Splinter Cell, did you not notice SAM FISHER in my profile pic? :P It's tough to pick a favorite but it would probably be down to the XBOX version of the Original because I love the music, the lighting and the fact that you really needed to fear the enemies. BUT, the shear amount of content and time I've spent in the XBOX version of CHAOS THEORY probably tops it. I just don't like the AI as much. They're too scared. But the 1p mode is still great. I played co-op a thousand times with my Dad. Every day we would run through those same 4 levels and the 2 DLC ones. And that's even before we talk about (in my opinion) the greatest Cat&Mouse game mode ever, Spies vs Mercs before they dumbed it down in Double Agent. Absolute least favorite of the main games is 100% Conviction. I hated that game. As a stand alone action game, it's okay, but as a Splinter Cell game, hated it. About 80% of the cool things you can do in the series was removed. I really need to play BlackList again, that one was fun. It just came out at a weird time and I didn't dive into it like I normally did with SC games, but I liked the mechanics. Definitely faster pace, but still couldn't just stand out in the open. My favorite racing games are both on the original PlayStation. NFSIII:Hot Pursuit and WipeoutXL (which is where the XL in my alias comes from).
It's such a shame that they never made action figures for the og Killer Instinct. With the awesome cast of characters, it would of sold like hot cakes. Even Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat had them back in the day. Although the first couple lines of toys weren't great (especially the GI Joe style ones) they got progressively better a couple years and a bunch of toy companies later. The classic Mortal Kombat toys made by Storm Collectibles look amazing. Imagine if they did it for classic Killer Instinct. Hell, I'd even buy KI Pop Figures. I was definitely happy with classic MK1 Pops of Raiden, Sub-Zero, Scorpion, and Lui Kang (Shame they didn't do the whole cast).
Yep, just in general, KI never got anywhere close to the merchandising as SF & MK. We didn't get KI t-shirts, lunchboxes, movies, or figures... which sucks. I have a few of those G.I. Joe ones. Guile, Dhalsim, Sagat, Johnny Cage, Raiden, Scorpion and/or Sub-Zero but they used a lot of repurposed molds. I have a Johnny and Scorpion that are oversized. Got them at BIG LOTS. Quite odd. I don't have any of those Storm Collectibles but I've got some of the Diamond Select & Iron Studio statues for MK. If your into spending a "large some of money" (sic), there are two KILLER INSTINCT statues coming out soon. KI1 Fulgore and KI2 Sabrewulf (with interchangeable arms) by PCS. BUT, these are those $650-$700 ones. 100% wish they had either like a full line of NECA/McFarlane figures or some Diamond Select statues. Those are easier to buy a full set. These really expensive statues are one thing when it's just ONE character. But when you love the whole cast ?... we going broke or missing out!
For us manual were not weird to have but nowadays its always cool whenever we get them but in the future it will be hard to collect for newer systems because we won't know if a game came with a manual or not only some of them..
Do you have the hard drive for the killer instinct because the originalhard drive was biggerthan the one you are currently using? I like the collection I want to get My killer instinct in a box soon and there are rumors that KI is coming back for the series X
I have 2 harddrives but I think the other one was the same size, so I guess neither of them are originals. It's what it came with when I bought it in the early 2000s.

Yeah I got that KI for Gameboy on my emulator system, it's surprisingly accurate for having 2 buttons, I did jagos ultimate without any problems, lol
