Madhu Trehan interviewed him about how he was accomodative of Kapil Sibal and Chidambaram when he interviewed them. She said his interviews with them were 'conciliatory'.
I'm not a BJP fan but I'm a lesser fan of Congress, but we should at least not delude ourselves into believing he is brave and honest just because he chooses to be ferocious against BJP and not Congress.

I was told by someone in India that this guy Thapar fancies himself as the Indian answer to Tim Sebastian of BBC's hard talk. In reality if you see his talk show interviews, he comes across as narcotic, egocentric, loves the sound of his own voice - net net, he speaks longer asking questions than his guests answering them. He managed to out perform within that ambit, he used to successfully corner people and get sensational interviews out of them by constantly grilling them and bullying them one clear advantage he used to have was his fluency is English language, if the interviewee is not good in English he/she will become his pray. Kapil Dev and YSR are his success stories in that category, on the other hand he was equally beaten back by strong personalities like Jayalalitha , he boasts about his interview with Jayalalitha but in my opinion that was disaster for him. She managed to outperform him in bullying him back. See what happened in past few years. He slowly started becoming irrelevant any more.
