    Just a FYI. The brake lights do randomly not work. I am a police officer and have experienced this and seen this many times over when we had Crown Vics in our fleet. Plus I own one myself and have had this same issue with mine. The brake switch is faulty. It sometimes doesn't activate the lights or if you let off the brake pedal a little, but brakes are still engaged, they will stop illuminating. Replace brake switch. It's seen its fair share of use if it was a retired unit.

  • @JPM788212
    @JPM788212 Před 4 lety +4

    Sir. You need to edit your video and cut out the part where you're informing watchers that you can get rid of LED hyperflash by replacing a relay under the hood with a LED type blinker relay. This is completely incorrect. There is no blinker relay on the Crown Vics. They have a Lighting Control Module (LCM) under the driver's kick panel near the center. It is one large module for all lighting control. You will be required to do a resistor on both sides for the wire that makes the lights blink. Also, that black box with the sticky pad that came with those LED tail lights is a resistor to prevent hyper flash. However, the manufacturer of the LED lights messed up with their wiring due to the dual plugs they provide causing a short when the brake lights or blinker is used. I think it is bullshit because I ended up having to replace 3 different fuses in relation to the hazard lights, blinkers and brake lights trying to figure out where they messed up at when I did this year and half ago. Anyways, edit your video sir. Individual resistors are required to prevent hyper flash for the Vics.

      Hey bro, i have the same led lights with the two.black boxes i only hooked one of the two wire connections like mr random said. So i have hyper flash when turn signals are used are those black boxes useless or wired wrong . How did you fix the problem any help would be appreciated thanks mr Jesse.

    • @JPM788212
      @JPM788212 Před 3 lety

      @@jessecadena9485 You still have to place load resistors on the turn signal wire. The two black boxes are only for the brake lights, not the turn signal. These lights were not actually designed to flash with the brake lights applied. That is why they put those extra holes at the bottom. Those are for the turn signal lights that you have to add yourself.

    Hyper blinking is actually illegal in most states if not all of them. I believe the DOT sets the standard. Turn signals are supposed to flash approximately 60 times per minute. The reason it flashes approximately 120 times per minute after changing to LED is exactly as you stated that the car thinks there is no bulb there. It is designed like that on purpose that to tell you that a bulb is burnt out and needs to be replaced. It can also be a signal to the police you have a light out. DOT wants signals to flash slower because the idiot drivers think they only need to flash once or twice during a lane change when in reality they are supposed to signal during the entire lane change. I'm a motorcycle rider and always turn my head backwards before changing lanes and can't tell you how many times a person in front of me with two quick flashes of a turn signal and expected me to see that by the time I time I turn my head back forwards..

    Nice video and the lights look great. I have to say though I am not a big fan of the way most American cars have turn signals incorporated with the brake lights. Here in the UK we have to have separate orange turn signals and it's way easier to see when someone is turning. I don't know if it's your camera or not but I could hardly tell that your blinker was on with the new LED lights. Having driven 1000's of mile in the US I still prefer the separate orange turn signals. :)

    I'm curious as to what the portion at the bottom with the clear lens does. I was hoping that would become the turn signal, as one of my complaints about the stock tails is how it simply uses the same section as the brake lights and that's not always super visible to other drivers.

    Currently saving for my own CVPI to replace my '99 Plym. Gr. Voyager, named B.R.U.N.O. (Busted Rusted Ugly Nonetheless Operational) with 185K+ miles. He runs, but there's a new noise just about EVERY day. He WAS bought new in '99 when we had our daughter & NEEDED a m***van. We drove her & her friends & then the sick br.-in-law & elderly fr.-in-law back & forth to Drs/hospitals/VA/etc. We kept him until a m***van wasn't needed any more, but they wouldn't give us much on trade. So, I sold it to a tradesman who used it as a shuttle for guys, haulin' equip., runnin' errands, just an extra set of wheels as needed.
    When HE didn't want/need it any more (just didn't need the extra expense, really) & I needed a vehicle (my Escort had JUST died), he GAVE it back to me AND. . . PAID for the plates, Township sticker, & transfer fees. This after. . . 2 "rolling" accidents, a "parked" accident, a wrinkled hood incident, 2 transmissions (they tended to "act up" after about 75K mi.), a "new", boneyard engine, & never, I mean NEVER cleaning the interior (gross!). But hey. . . free, right?
    Everything worked (save the vent windows in back) even the A/C, throws heat like a blast furnace, & ran "pretty smooth". With a set of plugs, a whole can of SeaFoam run through a fresh, full tank of "Hi-Test", a "new" driver's window switch, "new" driver's SEAT (19 years of butts REALLY flattened it down), carpeting/padding (gross!), a fresh headliner, LED dome lights, restoring the crusty (yep), yellow headlamps, adding road lamps, flood headlamps (for unincorporated areas), back-up flood lamps, & alley lights . . . he's a top notch pizza delivering "machine". I've even accidentally driven over. . . a few things (didn't KILL anything/anyone, tho), driven him in the >100° heat &

    Run don't walk down to the PEP Boys and get that relay for those lights. The faster flashing makes you lose all the definition. You don't want those lights flashing so fast that people behind you have to look twice or don't even notice your turn signal is on. There is a reason the stock flashers are slower, old man grandpa Ford knew what it were doing.

    The after market stuff for vics sucks. Those LEDs are probably the lowest quality ever. You cant even see that during the day. You're chances of getting rear ended go way up with those.
