  • I decided to upgrade the tail lights on my '06 Crown Victoria Police Interceptor. Hopefully this before and after video will be helpful to those looking to perform the same upgrade.
It's worth mentioning that these lights were sold as plug and play when in reality I had to throw away the supplied load equalizers and purchase new ones from the auto parts store. I blew a lot of fuses trying to get these lights to work. In the end I installed a total of four load equalizers, one for each light, and only plugged in one light on each side into the stock wiring harness. Now everything works! The lights do not fit 100% like the OEM ones but it's close.
All in all I'm stoked on the upgrade and recommend it.
    Brand: OEMASSIVE
You can find the lights on eBay for around $140.

Aftermarket taillights prove to be dangerous here, as you cannot see the turn signal nor the brake light. If the third brake light didn't illuminate, that would be a cause for an accident. I would go with another brand or type. Very minor difference in running light and brake light. However, I really do appreciate you uploading this! This helped me make decisions! Thank you!

I just don't understand why the aftermarket LED tail lights for ANY vehicle are thought to be better. A before and after video in the sun and from the view point of a car following you would clearly show that the new lights are less visible. At night, yes, they look bright, but a before and after would show that the OEM turn signals are much more visible than the LEDs. There's barely a change when they blink.Sorry to use your video to climb onto my soapbox and preach.

What is the clear housing for? I assume turn signals for some Crown Vics? Or do they function as reverse lights?

Could be an accent in the housing. Some come like that i know the 98 body style comes with that blinker in the bottom

Its the turn signal lens. The back up lights are next to the license plate.

Turn signals, however models 04 and up dont have the 4 bulb option.

Where can I get some of these?

Search eBay for OEMASSIVE Crown Victoria tail lights. Thanks for watching!

Is there a set anywhere for Grand Marquis? They don't have the built in turn signal lens and use the dual 'filament' method for TS.

I'm not sure - I only have the PI model of Crown Vic. Check eBay?

I plugged mine in and my brake lights nor my turn signals or hazards work. What can it be? Same brand as well

Did you disconnect the LCM during install? If not it can create unwanted consequences.

    • @mysticwine
      @mysticwine Před 5 lety

Or just pull the battery cable during install

Try only plugging in one of the connections. For some reason I had the same results when plugging both connections in on the tail light initially.

Which cable do we leave connected? The one with the yellow one ?

I don't know about these lights, but I installed LED brake lights on my 2008 GMC. I had to install a resistor in series to duplicate the same electrical load the old incandescent tbulbs produced. My TS didn't work correctly until I added the resistor.

NuclearKnives visually or brightness wise? The LED tail light looks newer and not as hazy due to the sun. The LEDs look brighter to me when I'm out and about at night....prob can be seen by other drivers much further behind me as well. Thanks for the comment though! That's what this video was all about. Doesn't look like you're gonna change yours out after watching.

The brightness. It is difficult to compare the two because you only have a video of the after at night. Visually they look nice.

NuclearKnives I didn't take a video of the lights at night before I changed them because that's what's on everyone's cars right now. This is mainly a video for people who own a Crown Vic. I just threw this video together quickly for a forum I belong to on Reddit.
