do you have to jump while throwing the spears?i couldve sworn i'd done absolutely everything right and it still didnt do what its supposed to, but thats pretty normal for me

You need to make sure each spear hits 3 times, jumping helps. Try to closely follow the video on screen and eventually u will get it.

Considering the setup for this specific boss I don't think its figured out for other spawns of him.
