  • When Papa was a child, the hospital visits became too expensive for his family - so he learned to live with the large mandible tumor growing on his face.
“I didn’t think I’d be able to get help anywhere,” he said.
But after a free surgery on board the #GlobalMercy, Papa’s hope was reignited. He couldn’t wait to get back to work as a mechanic, supporting his family and younger siblings. Eventually, he dreams of getting married and having a family of his own.

Mercy Ships uses hospital ships to deliver free, world-class healthcare services, capacity building, and sustainable development to those with little access in sub-Saharan Africa. Founded in 1978 by Don and Deyon Stephens, Mercy Ships has worked in more than 55 developing countries, providing services valued at more than $1.74 billion and treating more than 2.84 million direct beneficiaries. Our ships are crewed by volunteers from over 60 nations, with an average of over 1,200 volunteers each year. Professionals including surgeons, dentists, nurses, healthcare trainers, teachers, cooks, seamen, engineers, and agriculturalists donate their time and skills. With 16 national offices and our Africa Bureau, Mercy Ships seeks to transform individuals and serve nations.

One of the signs of a slave’s happiness is that he is merciful in heart. The merciful is the most worthy of God’s mercy, and he is the most beloved of people to people, and the closest to people’s hearts, and he is the most deserving of people to Paradise, because Paradise is the abode of mercy, and only the merciful can enter it.. Congratulations to you..
