Working as a kidney doctor, I found that my patients were often unaware of just how important diet and lifestyle were and how often they felt unsupported by generic advice to “eat healthy”.
The home cook in me hated hearing this, so I set out to find a better way. I began to combine my medical training and love of food, making videos of simple recipes that were based on science and packed with flavor. Instead of just saying “eat healthy” to my patients, I could give them the resources they needed to make a real difference in their health.
Kidney doctor, passionate home cook, and CZcams sensation Dr Blake Shusterman empowers people to proactively manage their health by stepping into the kitchen. The author of several cookbooks with over 100,000 CZcams subscribers, The Cooking Doc® believes anyone, at any age can transform their health with small changes that make a big difference. Based on science and packed with flavor, Dr. Blake’s simple recipes have inspired home cooks everywhere to change their diet, retrain their taste buds, and transform their health.

Hello
Thank you so much for this video. Reinforces and inspires me to do something fast about my HBP. Cheers!
Very down to earth and thank you.
Thank you , Dr. for sharing this .🙏🏻
I'm 66 & my BP went from 156/98 down to 128/88 in 1 hr & 40 minutes. How? Its winter & all the windows are closed, so I opened them up & breathed in deeply fresh air - lots of trees in our area. So it came down via oxygenation. Based on this, we're going to get a big plant for the living room & one for our master bedroom.

Dear Dr. Blake Shusterman: THANK YOU for sharing such valuable information. At one point, my blood pressure was 210/110. After losing 80 pounds, exercising, eating low sodium (1,500 mg of sodium per day), eating home-cooked meals instead of eating in restaurants and eating junk food at fast food restaurants, my blood pressure is 127/74. My blood sugar is in the normal range and I no longer have to take Metformin. I still continue to take one Perindopril tablet (2.5 mg) per day.
Great.
Congratulations!
@I'm happy Dear I'm happy: I'm not going to say it' was easy. Changing any behaviour is difficult at first. But, I didn't have any choice. My health was being affected by being morbidly obese. Either continue doing what I was doing by eating, and eating, and MORE eating the wrong foods and facing health challenges along the way. I always keep a variety of unsalted nuts in the house and limit myself to 1 oz. (1 oz. = 35 almonds) when cravings hit. Slow and steady, at weight loss, wins the race! I used to get frustrated when I would lose 1 pound per week, but over a year that is 52 pounds. Weight loss is worth it. Health is wealth!
I hope the New Year brings you good health, peace and happiness.🎆 🎉🎊🎇
Thank You
@I'm happy Your welcome, I'm happy. Remember to stay "happy" in the New Year.

I never had a problem with high blood pressure until I started exercising and losing weight, I’ve lost 10 lbs in the past month, I’m in the gym 6 days a week, I do HITT sprints twice a week, I don’t eat much salt, everything I eat, I cook. And I have been intermittent fasting 3 to 4 days a week and eating a low carb diet.
A chemist's suggestion:
The herb called Alchemilla vulgaris is very effective in lowering high blood pressure.
You can boil this herb for 6 minutes and drink the water.
English name of this plant: Lady's Mantle.
Thanks, will check this out with my pharmacist. I am on Edoxaban blood thinners, so must check even so-called natural things I add to my diet or regimen, to ensure I'm not doing anything to interrupt the effectiveness of my medication.
Thank you doctor for sharing how to control high blood pressure. I heave got high blood pressure since last week. Until now becoming 188 dia 122
Thanks doc. You've life saver
At 61 years old my blood pressure is around 135 over 87 sometimes 140
June 2nd 2023 I left work. 6 weeks later I'm off my blood pressure medication and now my blood pressure around 115 / 72. Of course it fluctuates but for some reason it's now normal, the only thing I can think of is I left work. Retire as soon as you can
Do you off blood pressure medicine with doctor help or you off it by yourself thanks
I'm also retired, but it didn't work for me with my high BP. 😫
Thank you for the explanation.
Very informative video
Thank youuu Doctor
