  • How to Use the Vapor Foam Kit | Reducing Sublimation Lines
The Foam Kit by Vapor Apparel helps prevent press and paper lines caused during the transfer process during sublimation printing.
Using the Vapor tested foam adds a layer of cushioning in between your press plates allowing the edges of your transfer paper to float off the edge of your garment.
Simply place the foam under a piece of Teflon and put the shirt on top, taking care to make sure your transfer is cut larger than the foam.

    Amazing work !

Wouldn't a pressing pillow smaller than the transfer accomplish the same thing?

Not quite Merrette - we've been selling the heat press pillows - among other things - for years and the Vapor Foam Kit here is better.

I was going to say the same thing.

Love the foam idea. But everything I've learned to date is that the Teflon will absorb the ink and transfer to other substrates... I believe I also read that there is special foam out there (trying desperately to find the post I saw randomly one day which led me to this video, wondering if it's the one that was mentioned)... That yes it will absorb the ink but will not ever release it onto anything the next time it's used. Repeat until foam is too worn. Does this foam sound like it's that?

Meladene, the team at Vapor apparel spent a long time testing this out and approved it, and we've used it internally haven't seen any ink transfer at all. While it probably won't last forever I would be very comfortable using it - solves some common issues!

So I'm having a few issues using the foam. So far, I've had some good shirts and some which are not acceptable. The issue is ghosting. It seems that the foam is causing some ghosting during the release or the heating phases. I've tried many different ways and can't completely remove the ghosting effect. It's happening on the lower edge or upper edge.

The foam wouldn't cause the ghosting, but any shifting of the transfer paper would. Since you use such a light pressure with the foam kit, it is possible that there is some extra space under the press allowing the transfer to move around. Have you tried using heat tape to secure the transfer?

@@ColDesiColman So I’m pressing as follows: Heat press platen (just with rubber insert), foam, threaded shirt, transfer (I’ve tried with and without adhesive spray), and finally a piece of butcher paper.

i might be doing it wrong but I always find teflon scorches my shirts

We have never experienced scorching with the Teflon from the Vapor Foam Kit. The teflon in this kit was created to withstand high temps. With the foam kit, the teflon is under the shirt and doesn't come in direct contact with the upper platen heating element.
